Just like the lovers of fine stock who raised ‘improved’ Shorthorn cattle in the barns across from Old Bust Head, we’ve raised the bar for an American favorite with our Shorthorn American Pale Ale. This fine brew starts off with lemon and grapefruit notes on the front end, followed by spicy tones, and a clean, soft, bitterness, and finishes with a touch of malt sweetness. Shorthorn, like its namesake, is a gentle giant that commands attention!

I am trying this a bottle of this beer at my friend's house in Naples, Florida. It was part of a beer of the month club pack. It poured a hazy orangish with white head that is leaving some lace. The scent had bitter hop notes and subtle pine highlights. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with an old school pale ale vibe meaning it was bitter with pine presence. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it is a great beer.

Pours amber with a cream colored head, that leaves trails of lace.
Floral, citrus, and herbal hops some nice malt.
Floral and citrus hops up front, notes of orange, balanced by a nice biscuit malt.

A good APA. Hazy. Amber. Sediment. Citrusy. Hoppy. Persistent head. Little malt backbone. Refreshing. Some lingering bitterness.

Poured from a bottle into an IPA glass. Amber color. Nice head. Plenty of lacing. The thing I noted the most was that there was a stronger hop bitterness than I usually expect from an APA. I have had better APAs but this one is worth buying again.

From the bottle, it pours a slightly hazy amber with a small head. A bit of hops in the nose, although malt is a bigger player. The mouth revels in the reasonably well balanced malt and hops! Yum!

Pretty golden in color, a little darker than I would have expected for a pale ale. Hops and malt battle for the nose and overall, I believe the malt is just a bit too much as a player and not allowing the hops to play the lead role.
