The Aggie is deceivingly wicked. This Russian Imperial Stout will cradle you with notes of chocolate, coffee and dark fruits hidden in hops and roasted malts without making you feel her curse in the morning.

22 ounce bottle, bottle #402/408, bottled on 11.1.16. Served in a DFH snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with about an inch tan head. Head retention is good, and there's a lot of lacing. Aroma is nice, the brew smells like roasted malt, coffee, bittersweet chocolate and some dark fruit. Taste is similar to the aroma, but there's also a bit of licorice, milk chocolate and earthy hop flavors noticeable. Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, it's slick and smooth with a moderate amount of carbonation. I thought it was a good and enjoyable imperial stout. Just a good, straight forward RIS. Buy some if you see it, I know I'd like to try this again in the future. $9.99 a bomber.

22 OZ. bottle
Served in a Phoenix Brewing Company pint glass
Bottled 11.1.16
This beer pours black and is topped with several inches of tan head that leaves spotty lacing.
The smell is chocolate and cocoa. I get hints of dark fruit, plum maybe. Some roasted malt aroma rounds it out.
The taste is chocolate with hints of coffee. There is some anise. I get a little dark fruit in the aftertaste. The taste is really smooth for a 10% beer. It drinks like a lower abv stout.
Smooth, creamy mouthfeel
I think the couple years in the cellar really smoothed this beer out. The chocolate seems more pronounced now. I am surprised at how quickly it goes down given the high abv. I think this would be considered a good cellar experiment.

Very black and very smooth. Doesn't have the bitter/tart finish a lot of Russians have which may or may not be a good thing since it makes it more drinkable. Try if you find yourself near Mansfield, Oh.

Black Aggie | The Phoenix Brewing Company. Poured from the bomber bottle and split with @ nicholas2121, this beer's got a one finger thick tan head, lateral lacing, and a pitch black body.
Smells like coffee with a bit of plum and black licorice.
I taste strong coffee with the hops mentioned on the label and a small hint of smoke. The high abv is pretty unnoticeable.
Mouthfeel is a little heavy with mild carbonation.
Overall, I'll give Black Aggie | The Phoenix Brewing Company a 4.5.

Black Aggie brewed by The Phoenix Brewing Company, with an ABV of 10.0% This stout pours out a deep brown color with a nice light brown head. This brew has the look of coffee, not saying that is a bad thing. There is a also a decent amount of lacing to this brew, it sticks to the side of the glass well. The smell of this brew is rich with coffee, sweetness and roasted grains and malts. There is also some mild notes of hops. Between the look and smell of this is one inviting brew. Now for the taste, bold with flavors. You first pick up on the coffee flavors and roasted grians. The body of this, is heavy, not saying that is a bad. There is a lot going on in this Russian Imperial Stout. It is also hard to pick up on the 10.00% ABV in this brew. The mouth feel of Black Aggie is Bold, Heavy, Coffee, Rich, And Refreshing. Overall I'm giving Black Aggie a 4.5 out 5. I would look this brew up again. If you are into heavy stout look this brew up. The Phoenix Brewing Company, did a real super nice job with this brew.
