Duck Sauce from Hitchhiker Brewing. 16 fl oz can from Franklin Beer, Franklin, PA. Picked up 10/01/26, in reefer at distributor. $ 4.50 (including tax) ($ 0.281/fl oz). Reviewed 14/01/26, review 3671. Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Undated can. Stored at home at 40 degrees F. Served at 46.0 degrees F in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. The final temperature is 54.1 degrees F.
Appearance – 4.
First pour – Pale Straw (SRM 2), hazy.
Body – Straw (SRM 3), hazy. Under direct light, same. When rear-lite, translucent with a greenish tint.
Head – Average (Maximum 4.0 cm, aggressive center pour) White, high density with average retention, falling to a 0.3 – 0.4 cm crown and thin partial cap.
Lacing – None
Aroma – 4 – Light, spicy hops. No alcohol (4.5 % ABV as marked on the label).
Flavor – 4 – It begins slightly sweet and weakly spicy and fruity (Apricots). No malt, distinctly no ginger. I can imagine some jasmine tea in the flavor background. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl. No gastric warming.
Palate – 4 – Thin: Watery: Soft but lively carbonation.
Style: Sort of follows the BA style description.
Final impression and summation: 3.75 (After deducting 0.25 point for an undated personal container.) Uncredited label art. Pleasing light-weight drink, easy to imagine kicking back on a warm summer’s day and quaffing a couple of these.
