The Highland Scottish Ale is a creamy, nutty, malty, Loch Ness Monster of an amber ale; chocked full of rich roast barley, hearty peated malt, and fortifying flaked barley. While the subtlety of Willamette hops keep this beer keenly aware that it's made in the grey mists of Vancouver, this delightfully smooth ale is perfect for fending off the damp chills of the moors of Scotland.

(On tap at St Augustine's)
Not bad, but not exciting. I would have liked it to be maltier.

On tap at, erm, the office, Vancouver.
Amber-gold with a finger of white.
Butterscotch, autumn leaf, and a touch of rotten orange.
Sour toffee up front, apple skins and a few golden raisins, with a fair whack of spice to end.
Medium, chewy, round.
Not as malt-fwd as a Scottish should be – almost more ESB in the prickly end. But well-judged, round, and enough there to be just beyond bland. A gateway beer.

On tap at St. Augustine's. The most I can say is that it did meet the style. Was not greatly drinkable, was black with a minimal white head, and a little smoke. A little sourness. Served at right temperature and carbonation, as I found at this bar in all of their servings.

On tap at Falconettis in Vancouver.
A: 5/8" tan colored head which dissipated over about 2 minutes. The liquid itself is a cloudy amber colour.
S: Smells like yeast and ginger.
T: Gingerbread with a bit of mandarin orange taste to it. Quite nice.
M: Low carbonation and thin. Average mouth feel, but this could be due to the amount of time it has been since this keg has been tapped.
O: A good Scottish ale, interesting taste.

Now I have had off pints of Storm beers before and great pints and happily at the Whip near Main Street I had three great Storm pints ( Nitro Black Plague, IPA and the Scottish. The Scottish was malty and nutty with a nice mouthfeel that continued off the finish. There was a freshness to the beer that opened up flavours of oats and ginger. Great pint in a great establishment.
