Style: American IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 6.60%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
A balanced, soft, and juicy IPA. Ripe passion fruit and citrus hop aroma lead to a full, fruit-forward hop flavor that washes over the palate, ending with subtle bitterness. Some folks say they don’t like hoppy beers, and to that we say that hops do not equal bitterness. Hops offer a whole world of flavors, not just bitterness. In Tropicália, they exude a luscious fruit journey your palate can enjoy over and over without fatigue.

From the 12 oz can in a snifter. This nice IPA from the little lady's daughter and beau
pours a nice lightly chunky golden straw color with a nice head of white foam that
subsides to a thick ring, thick layer, and shows some nice lacing. Nose of heavy
grapefruit, pineapple, and touches of pine with some sweet honey malt. Flavors
follow the nose with a lightly creamy mango to the fore followed by pineapple
and leading into grapefruit with moderate honey malt as a background with touches
of caramel. Nice mouth feel; lightly creamy like a cream ale, medium light carbonation,
medium body, lightly sticky hop residue making it lightly coating, and a hop heavy finish
that lingers long with touches of pine and grapefruit.

Overall a solid little brew.

Cheers

Acquired via trade. Can date of 2-8-18

Pour is golden orange, clear (nice change) with nice lacing and minimal head

Aroma is hard to gauge because it is 10 wk old can. I only get faint remnants. But to be fair, it is older can.

Surprisingly for an older can, the flavor was still very solid. Malt takes front stage, but enough hop bite still left.

Mouthfeel was appropriate for the style

Overall- I would love to try this fresh. I went into this with low expectations as many 10 wk old ipas just are not good. I enjoyed this. Have feeling my score would be much higher with a fresh can.

Poured from can into tulip good 2+ finger cream colored head, stays several minutes and reduces to 1/2 finger, great lacing. Pale golden in the glass, slight chill haze. Smells of pineapple, mango and grapefruit, smells really bright and tropical (like the name). Taste is initially pineapple and sweet malt, slight bitterness on the front and the grapefruit comes in thru the middle, strong grapefruit, good grapefruit, finishes fades off with a very mild bitterness, and am left with a grapefruit pith aftertaste (not in a bad way). Almost a creamy mouthfeel, on the first taste.

Tropicalia came to me as part of a NBS box, and it was (as of yesterday evening) my favorite Creature Comforts beer thus far. It was unseated this morning by a blind tasting of Awaken, My Love - but per style, Tropicalia is still my favorite Creature Comforts pale.

Poured in to the provided Creature Comforts shaker glass, Tropicalia is a light yellow gold - it smells deliciously hoppy and fruity. The hop combination in this escapes me but it tastes quite complex but wonderfully complementary. The mouth feel is rich but light and drinks quite easy.

I'd drink this one daily, given the opportunity. Recommended.

Appearance is a somewhat cloudy dark orange. Poured with 2 fingers of white head.

Aroma is a mix of citrus and tropical fruits.

Taste follows nose. Overripe fruits including orange, maybe some pineapple and passion fruit. Slight bitter bite at the end to finish it off.

Feel is soft, full and a bit juicy. Carb is moderate to low.

Overall a very nice ipa. Feels very soft on the mouth and the overripe fruit definitely comes across as juicy. Welll Done.

Pour is a golden yellow, significant hop haze, and a pillowy off-white head. The nose has oranges, pineapples, and passion fruit in equal amounts.

The taste is an exceptionally well-balanced tropical fruit IPA, with slightly dank notes elevating this significantly. This is quickly becoming a favorite brewery of mine.
