pours a motor oil brown with a medium creamy head that sticks around. nose; coffee grounds, vanilla, creamer, light butter & toffee. taste; roasted sweet malt, vanilla, coffee grounds, mild coconut sweets, light chocolate icing, light hops, & dry cocoa. roasted coffee, cocoa, & hops on the end. medium carbonation & mouthfeel. i'm not really a porter fan, but this one got me. for whatever novelty it's worth, it tastes exactly how you'd expect judging from the label artwork and colors. great balance on the bitter roasts and milk sweets. this one is tagged as a milk porter, but i've had milk stouts that taste similar. not too shabby! :)

Smells/tastes like Taddy Porter. Not sure how anyone gets the coconut/coffee. That being said, I have had this beer before & it was glorious; as advertised. This batch seems to have been haphazardly thrown together just in time for Christmas/NYE. "Milk Porter?" Am I supposed to detect something akin to lactose? I did a while back, just not this go round. Excellent trade fodder, of course, but not what I knew I should be experiencing. Meh...

This pours dark brown with a thin head on tap at the brewery. Smell is coffee and coconut. The taste follows, oh so smooth. The vanilla isn't overpowering as it can be in some vanilla porters. The mouth feel is thinner than I expected, but not detracting. Great beer.

Look: Dark; Off White Head
Smell: Perfect mix of Vanilla, Chocolate and Coconut
Taste: Perfection of all things-a little bit of everything creating a whole new flavor of it's own
Feel: Smooth, light
Overall: Standout beer that will be enjoyed by all.

Appearance: Served up a near black body with a scant, powder-like, beige-colored head.

Smell: A welcome, soothing blend of high-grade coffee, chocolate, vanilla-infused sugar and roasted malts. Light, fleeting hints of dark fruits and shredded, toasted coconut.

Taste: A sweet, succinct roasted maltiness with a taste akin to the chocolate topped donut one might find at Dunkin Donuts. Very well-integrated coffee character (additionally, I'm a big fan of 1000 Faces since catching them at the Freedom Farmers Market). Lightly charred sugars. Scant dark fruitiness. A light bitterness, which seems more attuned to the roasted malt quality. Modest coconut mingled in. Some vanilla showing near the sweetish, roasty, chocolaty finish. It all tastes great and it all tastes great together.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Smooth mouthfeel.

Overall: This day, I think we can all say together, without a hint of irony: Koko Buni is one damn fine beer.

Fantastic beer. Their is a beautiful balance between the coconut, coffee, and cacao nibs- not too much of anything, but just the right amount of each. Very robust, but not over the top, not bitter, and silky smooth in the mouth. A very smooth and roasty base beer adds to the experience and the coconut is an especially nice touch- it brings the rest of the flavors together and adds a nice creamy toastiness, and it contributes to the silken feel of the beer as well. A home run.

Milk Porter with toasted coconut, coffee, cocoa nibs and vanilla beans. I'm in.

Appearance: Pitch black, medium dark head, excellent lacing.

Aroma: Big coffee bean aroma, cocoa nib and coconut up front.

Flavor: Coconut oil, coffee/malt roast, smooth vanilla.

Mouthfeel: Slightly more full bodied than a typical porter, but still lighter than a stout. Flavor has pretty good lasting power, and I'm not mad about it.

This one was ordered for me on tap at teds.

Looked great in the glass, very dark so much so that I thought it was a stout.

Didn't spend much time on the smell to begin with because I wanted to get the beautiful liquid in my belly. Probably should have because I would have noticed the strong coconut and chocolate aromas. Oh well.

Shocked at the taste at first. I expected a RIS standard profile but got sweetness with coconut, chocolate, and coffee shortly afterward. Honestly, it was off-putting at first, like drinking a dr pepper when you expect a coke, but once I knew what I was drinking I enjoyed it.

Overall, it's a good beer. Pretty sweet but I'll have to re grade when I know what its supposed to be on the front end. Everything about this said it was a coffee/ chocolate stout.

Update, had the 2015 version. Have re graded well upward its a great beer which is pretty much par for the course from Creature Comfort

L: pours dark coffee brown with a one finger caramel colored head
S: strongest smell is coffee, but there are slight hints of chocolate
T: man everything I could ask for from a milk stout (porter I guess) a bit of sweet lactose up front, with strong flavors of coconut, and fades to coffee. There's a lot of flavor here, but it all works together. It's tastefully sweet, without being cloying.
M: as good as one would expect. Thick and creamy. I wish I could get this on nitro though.
O: awesome. Definitely in the upper tier of porters/stouts for me.

On tap at a beer fest and, In Jan. 2017, at the brewpub.
This is a milk porter with coffee, toasted coconut, and cocoa nibs. There is plenty of coffee and coconut in the nose, but the coffee is perhaps more obvious in the flavor, as is the chocolate. Both sweet, especially up front, and mildly bitter.

O: very rich and mildly sweet overall, this should be a fine dessert or after meal beer.

Maybe my favorite of the seasonals? Dark color, rich chocolate and coffee flavors, hint of the coconut. Less sweet this year which is nice. Thin light brown head, medium mouthfeel, and just a very drinkable beer that leaves you wanting another sip.

Coffee and coconut are the stars here. The malt provides just enough of a backbone to prevent this from being cloying. Creamy mouthfeel and an incredible aroma put this thing over the top. I'm don't think this was intended as a session beer, but every time I have this, I find myself coming back for more.
