The Creature Comforts Snow Tire Tasting Room, which appears to be under expansion, is located in an old tire store. The classic exterior signage has been preserved, and complimentary CC signage added. The interior has been adapted for a big warehouse-like tasting room, with some rustic wood behind the two bars, but mostly modern furniture, big windows, concrete floors and clean lines. The entrance is through a separate gear and package sales room. Overall, the space is closer to industrial chic rather than cozy pub.

The two bars have a slightly-different selection of 12-15 beers on tap, or available in the can if the kegs are gone. When we visited, the selection was heavily weighted to light ABV beers appropriate to the July Georgia heat. No guest beers were in evidence (probably illegal under Georgia law), but there are non-alcoholic options.

A nice selection of cans and bottles are available to take with you.

Children are allowed and in evidence. Dogs are allowed only in the outside patio area, which may currently be unavailable due to construction. There is no food other than occasional food trucks. Parking is street-only or in facilities located nearby.

They have expanded their seating capability and have opened additional taps for purchases due to changes in Georgia law.
Dog friendly! Table seating, no bar. Flights are possible as are standard pours. Sit awhile to drink their beers and then make the purchase to go!

I visited Creature Comforts on a Wednesday night when they had a co-located farmers market going on. The market was a nice touch and we sat outside. Nice place but the overall feel just didn't appeal to me - waited an inordinate amount of time for beer and way too crowded.

A really sweet spot in the busy college town of Athens. I went two weeks before Georgia changed their liquor laws. At my visit, you paid $14 bucks for 6 6ounce pours and a free glass. No pints or flights. It's actually kind of cool because that's a lot of bang for your beer buck. If you just wanted to try one or you aren't looking to drink, it's not great. The new laws have fixed that. The building is a cool, old tire factory they redid. It was super busy inside and out, but that's a Saturday. The bartenders pour a little heavy and that was just fine with me. Parking is tough, but worth it. They have one of the hardest and most sought after beers in Georgia. If you see their tropical IPA, get it. Just don't leave it in your fridge in the hotel when you head back to Ohio.

My first brewery experience.
One of the best times I've ever had in my life!
Music was good and loud. The place looked awesome.
Staff enjoyed talking about the craft and educating me on the different varieties.
Tropicalia and Epicurious were my favorites.
Left that place feelin real good.

Loved the Tropicalia.
Went on Saturday afternoon...waited almost 30 minutes to get in....crowded. Lots of people brought their dogs.
Great vibe inside and out.
Athens has alot of cool restaurants and bars withing walking distance of Creature Comforts.
Would definitely go back.

This was a fantastic visit to a place I'd been looking forward to stepping into for some time. The people there were great. I just wish the were more of selection of their great beverages to take home, especially the ones you can't find in stores or other places.

I had a chance to visit Creature Comforts over the weekend and I must say I was very disappointed. I'd like to add that Creature Comforts makes some of my favorite beers so it was not the beer that I'm complaining about. The service was excellent and the quality of beers is always great, but the tasting room was sweltering hot, but my biggest complaint was the selection. They only had 5 beers on tap (Tropicalia, Athena, Bibo, Automatic, and Reclaimed Rye) all of which I have tried before except for Automatic. I was expecting so much more and was really disappointed considering the beer selection on the website AND the fact that I drove 4 hours (one way!) to visit the brewery. I'm not sure I will ever return.

This is my choice for best brewery in Georgia, and it's supported by the fact that they hold the top 3 spots in Georgia beers according to BA. I've been a couple times, but unfortunately, they haven't started distributing in my state (TN) yet. So when I was there last Friday, I spent $70 stocking up on Tropicalia before heading home.

I love this place. After two visits I have found it very consistent and lots of fun. Their beers are great. Not a big selection, 6 on draft usually, but all very good. The tour setup is cool, 6 pours and a glass (choice of a nonic or their standard skinny pint) on my last visit. The place is packed and could really benefit from more bartenders or a second bar. CC is doing it right, best brewery in GA!

Great venue to enjoy craft beer. They've done a great job remodeling the facility, love the open space inside and the multiple bars / pouring stations. Very nice outdoor area with option of live music and games of bags.

All of their beers are high quality and the building reputation is deserved, no hype. Hard to believe CC only in its second year.

Friendly staff and convenient in downtown Athens near plenty of other food and entertainment.

A great brewery to visit. The interior looks really great. The people were nice. They even showed us the barrel room on the tour because there weren't that many people.

One big complaint is that I drove an hour and a half to visit, and when I got there they had changed their hours for that day without any notice on their website! There were other visitors trying to get in as well, but the brewery was closed. I ended up going to terrapin first then coming back to creature comforts later, but it meant that I got to spend less time at the two breweries than I had planned.

Creature Comforts is a great brewery, I went on a Tuesday to participate in their "curiosity Tuesday" which featured a double hopped Tropicalia that was a fun addition to their standard beers.. Plenty of wide open space for standing or some bar stools bordering the walls (and most walls are 80% window) Very cool setup. Bartenders were plentiful and helpful. Excellently run brewery.

Has a very rustic look inside, took the tour and was blown away by the passion and knowledge of one of the owners. Highly recommended brewery to visit.

Super cool staff and very knowledgeable and helpful. Nice vibe with good tunes playing and a super non pretentious feel. They make awesome beer and don't feel the need to be in your face about it. Welcome all types of people and don't cater to a certain crowd. Also like that at the brewery you can get beers that you cannot find anywhere else. Awesome place.

I made my first visit last weekend and enjoyed it. The building renovation is awesome and beers are quite good. Only 4 selection on tap that day though. Even given the really stupid Ga beer laws I think they were a little stingy with the pours. But even with that I would go back next time Im in Athens.

if you are coming in from out of town get a tour and your samples and then walk to any one of the many cool bars in Athens and get a few more points! Great bar scene in Athens and almost all of the bars have very nice selections of craft beer.

We popped in recently and had a very good time. I'm a NC boy, and we found out quickly that GA beer laws differ dramatically. For $12 you get a CC glass (and they're nice) and a wristband that allows you 6 half pours. The brewery only had four beers available when we were there - so we got to try each one with a half pour, then finished with a full pour of our favorite (Tropicalia IPA). That's not a bad deal for the price - but it did keep us from making a return trip. We had friends come into town the following day and we didn't go back. Most of their beers, at least when we were there, could be found at local establishments - which seems a better way to try them. I don't want to knock the place for GA laws, it's not their fault - but you aren't just going to pop in to the brewery and snag one beer. Hopefully they get that rectified soon. Great place - very much worth stopping by, once. Good luck to them & you. Cheers!

This place is AWESOME. I can't stress enough how great the staff was, how informative the tour was, and how accessible the guys running the show were. Really had the best vibe in a brewery I've ever experienced. Oh, and the beers were also awesome! Its just a shame that Georgia beer laws are so archaic, this place could be so much better without the restrictive hand of Georgia good ole' buddy government.

A must if you are in Athens! Hours are limited, so plan accordingly. Georgia beer laws suck, so they can't sell (or even tell you where their beers are sold) you the beer, but hit up Five Points Bottle Shop afterwards and you'll be able to score some 6 packs of Athena and Tropicalia. Enjoy!

This is by far my favorite brewery. It's especially awesome during the Spring/ Summer when they open up the "garage door" to their historic building and let all the fresh air in. It has a cool industrial vibe, while still having a fairly sophisticated feel. The staff is very friendly, and their "Tuesday Twists" on their creations are amazing. Definitely check it out. I'm so happy that Creature Comforts decided to come to Athens and give back to a town that appreciates what they offer.

Visited on 7/30/14

Got lucky trying this place, they had extended hours on Wednesday (4-7:30) instead of the usual 5:30-7:30. Personally I blame Georgia's backwards ass brewery laws. $10 gets you a pint glass (a nice one, at that) and a wristband for 6 pours, and a coupon that gets you a discount at some local eateries (Athens has a TON of good places to eat).

Atmosphere: Creature Comforts is housed in a historic auto repair shop, about a mile from UGA. The space is huge, with two bars, two rows of picnic tables, and a few smaller tables. There is plenty of room for them to add more seating, but there's just a huge empty space to hang out in right now. The outdoor area was being used for the farmer's market the day we went, but it may or may not be just a parking lot.

Quality: I was surprised by the beers they had on tap, as they were WAY better than expected. Being from Florida, I'm spoiled a bit by CCB. The Athena Berliner Weisse is a must try, an excellent beer. The Tropicalia IPA was also a very flavorful, balanced, IPA. The Rye was also very good, and they had a peanut butter and jelly offering of the rye that was awesome. Didn't get a chance to try the pilsner, as I was heading to Terrapin Brewing. Part of me wished I had just stayed at Creature Comforts (not a knock against Terrapin, I love their beers).

Service; Staff was friendly and quick to fill up the glass. I left before it got really busy, however.

Selection: Only five beers on tap, which was a bit of a disappointment, but it is a small brewery.

Overall: If you're in Athens, or, hell, even in Atlanta, make the trip to Creature Comforts, you will not regret it.

This place rules. They have refurbished an old Goodyear garage, but because of it's historical standing a lot of it's original features still remain, including garage door, signs, etc. It really gives the otherwise industrial vibe an interesting twist. Awesome! You walk in through a visitor entrance where (due to ridiculously outdated GA distribution laws) you purchase a glass for your "brewery tour experience." In the state of GA, you aren't allowed to purchase any beer directly from a brewery, so you buy a glass, they offer a tour, and you get a number of tasting tickets on a bracelet to try the beers. At least the loophole is completely workable. Again, no beer to go due to laws, but you can find their beers at local bars and growler stations. The open area you walk in to was the old garage space. There is a small horseshoe shaped bar on your immediate left, and a larger L-shaped bar straight ahead, with some picnic table seating and a ton of open standing space. The garage door was open while I was there, so there was a nice breeze coming through. All the brewing equipment is open to view in the rear of the warehouse area, and that is where the tour is conducted. The bartenders are awesome. Very friendly and knowledgeable. I even got to chat up the owner for a while at one of the bars, too. The tickets on your bracelet get taken off as you taste, and the final ticket is marked "Eat Local", and it is good for a number of restaurants in Athens for a discount. The beer is very tasty. There were currently four on-tap. Sometimes they have a special cask or one-off available, as well. This place is a must stop if you are in Athens.
