We weren't sure what to expect visiting Creature Comforts. There's been a lot of hype in the community about their beers, but the brewery itself is a bit off the beaten path if you're not a University of Georgia student.
Happy to report that the brewery was worth the trip - a great, big former tire shop/warehouse with plenty of seating, two bars, and a great retail space. When we went, there was also a farmer's market-type event happening outside.
Only drawback was a lack of beer selection - they had a lot of new things, but very few of their Top 100 entries (they've got almost 20 as of this review) were available when we visited. Even just having them in bottles/cans in the retail space would've been nice.

Nice tasting room with impeccably kept beers. Two large bars serving mostly the same stuff, unless there are specials and then maybe at just one bar. Large space, with plenty of room to stand and mingle, or sit at some of the high top tables or outdoors. No food, again unless there is a special event. The space is a little sterile and commercial, but it can certainly accommodate a lot of people. You enter through the gift shop (lol), which is more what it is than a retail shop for beer, but they do have a number of their beers (including local and tasting room distribution only beers- and all cold), or you can get growler fills out at the bar. A pleasant stop in downtown Athens!

Not really my ideal vibe for a brewery. It's more of a public space. I was there on a Wednesday, which was like a local farmer's market night type thing. I'd be lying if I said it wasn't kinda cool to wander around and try the different offerings from local farmers/growers. On this particular evening, for every beer you bought you received tokens that you could use to purchase items from the merchants, which was cool.
If you're looking for a cozy spot to drink this isn't it. Two different bars with different tap lists and different bartenders can make it somewhat of a chore. Lots of people coming and going. Lot's of people there for the open atmosphere rather than the beer. That said, the beer is great. Tropicalia, enough said. Athena was good. Nice selection of bottles to purchase including Life In Flux. The decor is woody industrial chic. The clientele is local hipster mixed with boomers who have kids at UGA. The location is great, just on the outskirts of downtown Athens close to all the other bars and restaurants. Bottom line, worth a visit if you're in Athens and want to try some interesting beers and support the (super) local scene, but definitely not the best beer spot in town.

great location in a former tire retailer and automobile repair service facility in downtown Athens within walking distance of lots of other Athens restaurants, bars and night clubs.

The Creature Comforts Snow Tire Tasting Room, which appears to be under expansion, is located in an old tire store. The classic exterior signage has been preserved, and complimentary CC signage added. The interior has been adapted for a big warehouse-like tasting room, with some rustic wood behind the two bars, but mostly modern furniture, big windows, concrete floors and clean lines. The entrance is through a separate gear and package sales room. Overall, the space is closer to industrial chic rather than cozy pub.
The two bars have a slightly-different selection of 12-15 beers on tap, or available in the can if the kegs are gone. When we visited, the selection was heavily weighted to light ABV beers appropriate to the July Georgia heat. No guest beers were in evidence (probably illegal under Georgia law), but there are non-alcoholic options.
A nice selection of cans and bottles are available to take with you.
Children are allowed and in evidence. Dogs are allowed only in the outside patio area, which may currently be unavailable due to construction. There is no food other than occasional food trucks. Parking is street-only or in facilities located nearby.

Fun working brewery and taproom in downtown Athens. Very crowded on a warm March Saturday evening. Walkup beer service a bit slow due to crowd.

They have expanded their seating capability and have opened additional taps for purchases due to changes in Georgia law.
Dog friendly! Table seating, no bar. Flights are possible as are standard pours. Sit awhile to drink their beers and then make the purchase to go!

I visited Creature Comforts on a Wednesday night when they had a co-located farmers market going on. The market was a nice touch and we sat outside. Nice place but the overall feel just didn't appeal to me - waited an inordinate amount of time for beer and way too crowded.

A really sweet spot in the busy college town of Athens. I went two weeks before Georgia changed their liquor laws. At my visit, you paid $14 bucks for 6 6ounce pours and a free glass. No pints or flights. It's actually kind of cool because that's a lot of bang for your beer buck. If you just wanted to try one or you aren't looking to drink, it's not great. The new laws have fixed that. The building is a cool, old tire factory they redid. It was super busy inside and out, but that's a Saturday. The bartenders pour a little heavy and that was just fine with me. Parking is tough, but worth it. They have one of the hardest and most sought after beers in Georgia. If you see their tropical IPA, get it. Just don't leave it in your fridge in the hotel when you head back to Ohio.

My first brewery experience.
One of the best times I've ever had in my life!
Music was good and loud. The place looked awesome.
Staff enjoyed talking about the craft and educating me on the different varieties.
Tropicalia and Epicurious were my favorites.
Left that place feelin real good.

Loved the Tropicalia.
Went on Saturday afternoon...waited almost 30 minutes to get in....crowded. Lots of people brought their dogs.
Great vibe inside and out.
Athens has alot of cool restaurants and bars withing walking distance of Creature Comforts.
Would definitely go back.
