Pours a translucent golden color with a foamy head that ends as a lot of lacing.

Smells and tastes of bread, yeast , banana and clove spice with a slightly dank twist. The finish is slightly bitter with some alcohol warmth.

Medium body with light carbonation. Lush mouthfeel with a clean dry finish.

This is an Americanized take on a European standard with a bit heavier body and darker danker hop taste.

L: Pours a deep, cloudy gold color that looks almost like a fruit nectar. Has a short, cream head that dissipates fast, leaving small amounts of lacing.
S: Smells of honey, yeast, spices, cloves, bananas, a bit boozey.
T: Banana bread, honey, yeast, cloves, hops, with a strong bitter finish and alcohol.
MF: Full bodied, earthy, has a punch to it.
O: King of rough on me, it's good but it's a slow sipper, it's strong. Like a warm, honey wine, fireplace type of beer.

Maybe it’s just me. Maybe I’m not familiar with the style. Maybe I haven’t grown an appreciation for the finer things. Maybe this stuff is just awful. I was very excited to try it. Good reviews, good smell- terrible experience. Overtly bitter and unpleasant for my non-distinguished palate.

Always somewhat skeptical about American "Belgian-Style" beers, but Victory does a nice job with authenticity here. The bright, clear gold and solid white foam look good at first glance. The flavors donated by Belgian yeast are straight outta Brussels. Clove and banana crispness. My only slight beef was a couple sips got a little boozy during warming, but still the beer finished well. Legitimate!

12oz bottle with illegible date into a large snifter.
L: Pours a deep lightly hazed bright gold with a tall, rocky, pillowy white head with good retention and solid carbonation. Some spotty lacing.
S: Crusty crackery bread, earthy spices, honey, a hint of alcohol as the beer warms.
T: Yellow sweet bread, banana, candied sugar, yeasty, nutmeg and coriander, earthy hops, orange rind, clove, wild flowers, a lightly bitter finish with a trace of alcohol.
F: A firm medium-bodied wet mouthfeel with a slightly dry med-fast finish. It is vaporous in nature and a little bit sticky.
O: A beautiful tasting Belgian style Tripel Ale that is warming and simultaneously refreshing and quenching. Absolutely brilliant with rich foods, garlic cream sauces, soft cheeses and herbed chicken. Simply great with many foods. It is excellent in it's style.

12 oz. bottle poured into 20 oz. plastic cup
Look: Straw color, 2 1/2 finger head that dissolved into thin layer, excellent carbonation.
Smell: Spicy- clove?, hints of banana, florals. Pleasant.
Taste: Peppery, mild hops, a touch of banana and medium bitterness
Feel: Nice mouthfeel, taste coats tongue well
Overall: My first time with this style and I enjoyed it. Reminded me of a more complex version of a lager (look and carbonation like a lager)
Pairs with citrus, mussels in butter, white fish, carrot soup or any place where you need to add some extra spice. Would be good with some poached pears as well. I'll bet it is good with banana bread.

Pours a deep golden with soapy white head. Lots of ripe banana and banana bread on the nose. There's some banana bread, some yeasty tanginess but there is a bitterness note that really disrupts the melody of this beer. It's kind of medicinal in nature. The feel is boozy and yes this is a boozy style. The body is light though. I think this is perfectly fine but I enjoy other tripels more.

This stuff is downright tasty. And I don't generally like hoppy beers. Fruity smell, flavorful, but not too sweet, light'sh taste. Minimal hoppy aftertaste. Goes really well with fish or a pizza with hot peppers.

this beer is pretty gross to be honest. Only reason I buy it is because it consistently comes in a 15 pack with 12 other victory beers that are actually quite good. It tastes too much of cloves and banana. I power through and drink this one first every time just to get it out of the way. If there's one thing it has going for it is that it has a high abv that is pretty masked behind all of the other bullshit. Out the fridge, I pop these in the freezer for like 30-45 minutes because I find it so much easier to drink when ice cold. Would never buy on its own, the taste is just too much; Definition of "doing the most".

This beer is a little spicier than the normal Belgian-style tripel ale. It’s a nice change, but not one that I would have often / drink back-to-back.

Drinking this at my local Harris Teeter Grocery Store Pub in Raleigh NC at Briar Creek.
Poured from a tap into a pint glass
Appears a golden yellow with a nice foamy white that dropped to a thick cap head and lacing.
Smells cloves, banana, and yeasty.
Taste follows the nose nicely, Belgian yeast with a plenty of spiciness and pepper on the back of the palate.
Mouth feel is medium plus for the style
With a nice creamy finish.
Overall a very nice Belgian Trippel that I would definitely order again.

Suggested by a beer geek. Also suggested the sour.
L- amber color
S&T- clove and I thought nutmeg but they are close spices. Flavor is trademark Belgian, like if you were in Belgium. I remember this taste in a Belgian restaurant in London years ago. The sweetness of the beer to complement the flavors make for a great beer
O- I really liked this, I usually drink wine have almost 200 bottles in the house. But for 2 months now, I have a different beer almost every night. Had Alpha Abstraction #15, yesterday which I would made my top 5, this is good but not great

355 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 9.5%. Golden colour, huge white head. Sweetish aroma of white kandij sugar syrup, newmown grass, herbs and mild spices. Medium sweet and yeasty flavour, again with notes of white kandij sugar, also fairly distinct notes of black and white peppercorn, noticeable hops in the finish. Not a bad beer, but a bit too sugary.

I enjoyed this beer a lot more when it had a sediment and Was not as Crisp clear and filtered as it is Now. I seem to remember bigger alcohol bite Much more aroma in the past. Also this now has a best by Date on it! I would rather it have a brewed on date. Hey bill and Ron ! Go back to the old way of doing this Maybe we can get up in the high 90s again

From the can, it pours a clear yellow-gold color with a nice head that reduces and leaves lacing. In the nose, it is spicy with a touch of alcohol. In the mouth, it is definitely clove and malt - honestly, I don't get much.

The beer is a transparent gold with a poor head. On the nose, fruit esters are very storng. It is like a hefeweissen with its banana bread notes. There is also a sharp, spicey note as well. Taste-wise, its starts off with a nice crisp cracker malt note with over tones of the esters and phenols. That gives way to a very spicy flavor mixed in with herbal earthy hops. It ends with a somewhat unpleasant peppery aftertaste. Th mouthfeel is oddly cool at first and a decent good and pleasantly tingly carbonation. Overall, I am really curious to try the unspiced base beer to this. I feel like it wouldn't be too bad.

A friend who loves this offered me one five years ago and I could barely drink it. Those were the days when I didn’t like IPAs. Now I know more about and enjoy more IPAs but this is
Almost undrinkable The forward smelling/tasting Clove spice is overwhelming like a bad pumpkin flavored seasonal beer. The lingering sweet aftertaste is hard to forget or cleanse from my palate. Also halfway through the bottle I Developed a headache—not from the alcohol because I am a hearty alcohol consumer. This sick feeling is from the Overly sweet, heavily spiced, cloying, perfume and a brew. I hope I can give the rest of the six pack away!

Golden Monkey from Victory. Purchased on 27/1/21 for $ 2.00 (Including tax) for a 16 oz can ($ 0.125/oz) from Franklin Beer, Franklin, PA. In reefer at store and stored at home at 42 degrees. Reviewed 27/2/21. (Note: I use DD/MM/YY protocol.)
Stamped on bottom of can “CANNED ON 14 MAY 2020”. Served at 48.7 degrees in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. Final temperature 56.4 degrees.
Appearance – 3.5.
First pour – Straw (SRM 3), clear.
Body – Pale Gold (SRM 4), appears clear. When rear-lite, slight haze is evident.
Head – Large (Maximum 6.5 cm, aggressive center pour), white smoke, high density topped with some rocks, average retention, diminishing to a one to three mm undulating crown, and a thin partial cap. As the head retracts, some torn curtain lacing remains. Second pour produces a 2.3 cm head.
Lacing – Poor. Short piece (two cm) of lacing of tiny to small bubbles with nine stalactites and columns connecting to the crown. From there on, just a few isolated tiny bubbles.
Aroma – 3.5 – Begins with coriander and clove, followed by some bread - no malt, no yeast phenolics.
Flavor – 3.5 – Begins spicey and slightly bitter. No hops, no malt, no yeast. No alcohol (9.5% ABV, as marked on the container) flavor or aroma, although slight gastric warming occurs. Although, toward the end of the glass, some alcohol vapor makes its presence felt. No diacetyl, no disulfide.
Palate – 4 – Thin, watery, soft and dry-ish carbonation.
Final impression and summation: 3.5 Any time the palate is the best feature of a brew, look out! While this is miles above the sticky mess this used to be, its primary selling points must be its ABV and price point.

I really don't enjoy this at all. It's not a treat for really any of the senses. It smells funky, and it tastes the same. Heavy, tastes like a spicy and thick bud light. I'm also an IPA guy so maybe that's it. Just far too sweet and heavy for me.

Golden amber body; lively, fine carbonation; thick and sticky white head. Notes of coriander, thyme and honey on the nose. Spicy taste right off; nice phenolic edge; peppermint and licorice; moderate bitterness; mild sweetness. Medium body; crisp and sticky on the palate; moderate sweetness to the mouthfeel with a subdued alcohol warmth and bite.

This beer melds some fine qualities of spiciness, malt sugar sweetness; and a bare touch of bitterness.

Exactly what I want in a belgium. Until I paired it with banana bread, I didn't get the banana note that much, but then it hit me in the face on the front of the sip. Would recommend that if you're having trouble searching out the banana in it.

The cork popped off like it had been freed from bondage. The pour was burnt gold and clear with a huge head nearly the size of my own. It smells fruity and spicy like cider... I sure hope it's beer. It's beer! The taste is subtle but you can taste the bread and fruit together at once. The mouthfeel is smooth and lush, gliding across my tongue, I hesitate to feel less fizz than expected but still a little. The finish is very fruity with hints of peach, the alcohol is there but doesn't hit you over the head and the slightest bitterness is left lingering.

It's different than any other beer but I do like it I'll give it a 4.3 out of 6.

This Monkey is revealed after two 12 oz. cans were poured into a clear glass liter mug. The color is a clear and bright light amber. There's a little white head, but not much glass lacing. The aroma is pleasantly complex, with Belgian yeast sharing sensations with some hops and malts. Golden Monkey has a Belgian yeast profile, but it brings a good dose of hops and malts for the tongue. It's nicely complex and goes down smoothly for 9.5% ABV. More than just an opportunity to get a good dose of alcohol into the bloodstream, even those that are not fond of the peculiar taste of Belgian yeasts should find this accessible.
