12oz bottled served in a chalice.

pours a cloudy, sort of a dull golden amber tone while yielding a 3/4" head that lapses fairly quickly, leaving behind a few patches of lace. nose offers notes of banana, candi sugar, and spice. a hint of honey in the background.

flavor opens with the banana, followed quickly by the spice notes (clove and i get a little coriander) and some herbal qualities to it. some booze shows itself. medium-bodied on the palate with average cabonation.

golden monkey was one of those beers i cut my teeth on back when i was first getting into craft but now consider to be not as great as i once did. it's decent enough brew, just not an upper eschelon tripel.

They say to age this, but I didn't, though there's no date on it.

A - Pale gold, decent lacing

S - Belgiany, boozy

T - Honey, little sour, Belgiany, bubble gummy, noticeably bitter that lasts into the aftertaste

O - Not big on tripels but this was not bad. Not exactly complex, but at least a few things going on. A bomber's worth packs a lovely buzz.
