Bold, spicy and menacingly delicious, this American-hopped IPA offers an aromatic punch and follows through with a lasting, full-bodied finish

Poured from the 12oz. bottle into a Duvel tulip the beer was a dirty penny copper with about two fingers of just off white fluffy head that retained very well throughout the whole sample and left a thick sheet of lacing. Lots of carbonation streaming up from the bottom and sides of the glass.
The nose smacks with hoppy aromas. Piney and citrusy, slight grapefruit, and an ever so soft bready malty aroma. Hop aromas dominate this one with pine cones coming through.
The first sip has carbonation grab the palate right away with a prickly impact that soon gives way to a dry bitterness on the back of the tounge. Taste mimics the smell as you not only sense the bitterness but also "taste" the hop aromas of pine and graperuit. The balance actually comes through as the beer rests for a moment. A semi-firm malt backbone is present and serves to cut through the hops just slightly. Hop flavor still dominates, but the beer is not without balance. I remember the beer being less balanced in the past. The finish is dry, crisp, and resony hops coming back through.
Medium body with a good amount a carbonation. Prickly, dry and crisp with each sip.
The beer has always been a solid and afforable choice for an IPA. I recall the beer being less balanced in the past; perhaps my affinity for hops has made even those beer which pack a punch seem less agressive than they once did. Either way, still an excelent beer that I return to often.

Not as good as I remembered it from back in '08.

From a fresh tapped sixtel keg. ...Tastes like an experiment. If there was a target, they missed it. Has a lot of good in it, but the combination doesn't work. Sort of like an Oktoberfest or Marzan trying to be a high gravity/bubbly IPA. But it looks luscious, creamy head, nice nose, but then goes South.

Poured a semi-lucid copper color from a 12 oz. bottle (Best by Feb. 15 23) into a standard pint glass with a creamy barley colored finger high head that clings to the glass as it recedes. Aroma is mainly malty with overtones of cereal grain and grapefruit. Taste is bitter throughout but very well balanced with the malty sweetness and spicy alcohol flavor on the follow through. The bitterness lingers with creamy thickness in the mouth for this medium to full bodied brew. There is even a nice carbonation tingle on the tongue. It's been so long since I've had one of these that I had forgotten how good they are. This is an iconic ale that lives up to the hype.

Pours out an amber color with a nice thick head. The taste is somewhat fruity and truly different. Some notes of fruit, like blackberry or blueberry with a hoppy finish. All in all a great tasting beer.

Maybe I'm drinking from a mis tapped keg, but this was too malty and dark for me. Wanted a hop bomb, got a malt grenade

Tasty traditional IPA from Victory, this might be my favorite from the brewer. Great balance of hop bite and malt backbone. Would look for this fresh again.
