poured an amberish orange with yellow highlights and had a half finger of bubbly head leaving a little lacing sticking to the glass. the aroma did have some good hoppy piney notes alongside caramel, sweetness from the malts and hints of citrus. the hop profile was much better on the palate with citrus caramel accents but had piney grassy notes and a touch of tangerine. the brew was medium in body with a good amount of carbonation which had a sweet, citrusy, piney, mild hoppy finish. drank really good and enjoyed paired with some BBQ chicken while watching the steelers get the their ass's handed to them in the super bowl.

Had on-tap at the Happy Gnome in St.Paul. It's a deep brown color, with an off-white head that fades. Looks tempting. Nose is all hops. Taste is malty with pine and a strong hop finish. Mouthfeel is nice and drinkability is up there. Overall a nice brew.

I really like this. The chestnu colour is mouthwatering and the taste and smell are a symphony of bitter piney hops and some maple syroup malts. It is slightly on he hoppy side but it s in the name - you have been warned

Mouthfeel is good carbonation but leaves a slight coating. I will have to revisit this soon.

12oz. Bottle

Hopdevil poured a beautiful clear amber. A 1+finger creamy off-white eggshell head formed and stuck around awhile. Moderate lacing sticks throughout the drink.

Smell is of sweet malts. Along with citrusy hops. Sweetened grapefruit and a touch of pine. The front has a nice caramel nose followed by the citrus. Very nice.

This beer is very well balanced. The taste starts off with a quick bite followed by grapefruit and ends with a good grapefruit pulp bitterness. This is all held in check by a good malt backbone that balences everything nicely. A touch of pine in the taste too. As it warms there's a slight alcohol presence in the nose and throat.

Mouthfeel is on the lighter side of medium bodied. Light bodied on the finish. A little on the watery side. Feels more medium bodied when first taken in. Light on the carbonation.

Drnkability is pretty high. With the lighter body and the nice balance between the hops and malt I could very easily enjoy a few of these at a time.

Overall this is a very well made beer from Victory. I was a little surprised though as I was looking for a more one sided hoppy ipa. Pick it up if you see it.

Slainte!

A: Rich copper color wtih ruby tones. Thick off-white head that leaves nice lacing.

S: Pine and floral hops. Toasted malt and carmel. Earthy, grassy resin and a faint hint of alcohol.

T: Nicely balanced with sweet carmel malt upfront. Toasted bread and cereal. Followed by sharp hop bite. Piney resin, grapefruit and lemon zest. Nicely crafted IPA.

M: Medium bodied, crisp carbonation

D: Great balance, and exceptional drinkability. Another great offering from Victory.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a sniffer. Very nice in appearance. Golden orange with a rather respectable size creamy white head.
Aroma is very pleasant and strong. Spicy and the bitters are definately picked up imediately.
Taste very true and full to the IPA brew style. Not overwelming...a pleasant mixture of bitterness and sweet malts. Better when cold with this brew.

Excellent. I'm a huge believer in truth in advertising, and Hop Devil fits the bill. Huge smack of hops. From something called "Hop Devil", I would expect nothing less. Pours a foamy dark golden. Can notice the hops scent right away. Good sign. Hops comes through from first taste through to the aftertaste. When I'm looking for a good, solid IPA, this one will make my top 10.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a Stone AB pint glass.

A- Orange meets Amber color with a thick 1 inch head. Sufficient lacing to stick to the sides as it dissipates.

S- Hops and spice on the nose up front. Some caramel malt is present as well.

T- Nice. The hop presence is totally put in check by the malty middle. Bittersweet dry finish. After a few minutes, and a few sips, the malt becomes more pronounced. Balanced and subdued flavor profile, but masterfully achieved.

M- Medium bodied.

D- One of the more drinkable IPA's I've had in a while. As a southern california resident, I enjoyed the restrained hop profile of this nice IPA as a nice change of pace from the extreme (but tasty) DIPA's that seem to be everywhere out here. Certainly more sessionable.

A solid IPA from Victory. Clear, amber in color, pretty highly carbonated. Nice to have an IPA with a foam cap that actually sticks around for a while. Nice bit of malt character on the nose to go with the piney qualities that a west coast type of ale (despite this being from PA) will have. Mouthfeel is smooth, almost wondering if there is some wheat in the mash. Hoppy without being overbearing. Some citrus that is expressed more in the flavor than the aroma. A tasty brew!

Poured from 12oz bottle into perfect pint glass.

A: Orange amber color with small off white head. Very small bubbles in the head, but it doesn't stay around long. Some carbonation coming off the glass but not very much at all.

S: Very big pine character in the nose. But also get the malty notes of toffee and caramel. Not sure if this bottle is really fresh or not.

T/M: Very good east coast ipa taste. Really get pine and some astringent flavors in the mouth. However I also get a lot of malt and caramel notes. Good mouth feel makes this rather enjoyable.

D: Good IPA, not sure if it was the freshest bottle, but still good. I think I would get this again but I definitely wont be running around looking for it. I might get some more if I find it fresher to double check.

This poured a cloudy, pumpkin color into a pint glass with a 1/4 inch head which dissipated quickly, leaving some nice lacing.

Fruity, hoppy aroma, not as sharp as SNCA.

Very nice, bitter taste with some hints of malt. Not overpowering or cloying as I found SNCA to be.

Great bitter finish that cleansed the palate and then left the mouth feeling clean and refreshed.

I liked this much more than SNCA.

Will definitely try this again.

For the price point and availability this is a more than solid IPA. Brings a nice balance of bitterness and malt forward flavor.

L = Light brown/brown.
S = Not a lot goingon here for me here, but maybe it's too cold. I get a little pine and resin, but not much.
T = Lighter than I thought it should be for an IPA. Not as much piney-ness as I would have expected.
F = Again, lighter here than I thought, but is still refreshing.
O = I actually really like this one because it's not as much like an IPA as the other I have tried. This one was considerably more mellow than others, which I liked, but it didn't seem as much an American IPA as it should be.

A nice, solid beer. Amber in color with a medium head that retained well. Little bit of lacing. Pleasant citrus aroma, a little bit of malt. The taste followed the aroma quite well. Citrus hops and a little malt. Not too aggressive in the mouth. This was a very enjoyable beer.
