High-powered with all German malts and the subtle, spicy complexity of our special yeast, Mad King's Weiss offers a quenching quality that can't be beat.

Pours a nice Dark Yellow with a perfect white head. Smell is a little faint of lingering bananas. Taste is of bananas and spices similar to a belgian. Overall not too bad, its a nice beer to try, Im not dissapointed, but I dont think i could drink more than one.

I figured a beer like this, which has a description hinting at fruit flavors, would be sweet. It's...not. It's quite bland overall and doesn't offer much to remember. A fine beer to drink, but really lacks character everywhere you'd look for it.

On tap, Stuff yer Face event in NJ. Admittedly not a fan of this style, but I do give it credit for representing what it should.

Served on tap at the restaurant.

A: Pale yellow with wheaty head and lacing. Offered and rejected the fruit accompaniment.

S: Wheat and strong spice.

T: Wheaty, a little too much of clove or spice for my personal taste but appreciate the quality there.

M: Good job here, good texture.

D: Honestly surprised to see this beer be as strong as it was - a credit to Victory on that one. Well disguised and drinkable.

Again, not a fan of the style, but I do give them credit from what I think is a good representation. Honestly surprised by the ABV.

On tap at Victory. Served in a sample glass. Pretty tame for a hefeweizen. Moderate yeast character with a background of bread and malt. I expected a bit more.

Weizen beers are not a style I go to very often but on hot days here in NC I do from time to time.Pours into a weizen glass a pale yellow color with not much haze,a thinner (for the style) white head atop, doesn't really have the look of a Bavarian wheat beer wich in Victory's defense it sorta isn't.Aromas of yeasty phenols and toasted cereal grain, there is some serious clove going on here. The flavors are dominated by the toasted grain with the phenols giving off some spice with hint of smoke, the feel is light and almost flat feeling wich doesn't fit the style.Kinda let down here I bought this thinking this was gonna be a hefe weizen with a bit of a punch but honestly.... not really.

Served on tap at the restaurant.

A: The ale is a pale yellow color with no haze and a white head that laces nicely. It, unfortunately, was served with a lemon slice that was promptly discarded.

S: The ale has a soft wheaty aroma and a smattering of spices.

T: The ale has a very soft wheat flavor that is accentuated by some spices, notably a clove flavor that lingers long in the drink.

M: Soft and smooth on the palate, this is good for hot summer days.

D: This is misclassified, in my opinion. It is closer to an American Pale Wheat than a hefe. Either way, it is a good refreshing beer that hides its strength well.

Reviewed on 7/10/08. On tap at Blind Tiger. Pours a cloudy light gold with a thick creamy head. Aroma dominated by spices (clove). Flavor also very spicy with some light bubblegum and banana. A decent hefe, perhaps a little TOO spicy for my liking, as the spices masked a lot of the flavor of the beer.

Enjoyed from a 22 oz bomber in a pint glass. This hefeweizen pours a light hazy straw color with a moderate white head of tight beaded bubbles and light lacing from the pooling dissipating foam. Nose of light lemon zest, sweet wheat malts, and a light Belgian yeast characteristic. Flavors are a crisp, lightly acidic wheat flavor with some light lemon flavors and a light spice in the background. Aftertaste is lightly sweet with a medium body and nice moderately carbonated mouth feel.

A solid weizen, although not a lot of the standard notes to a hefe in look, smell, or taste.

shared bomber bottle.
This is a fine version of the style that could easily pass for a very good Bavarian hefe. Banana and clove, as expected, but neither is overly prominent.
