Nice orange-reddish amber color with a finger of light tan head. Banana and bready malts in the aroma, with a mustiness behind. Sweet tasting with green fruit notes, a medicinal twang and a strong banana bread characteristic, with a touch of boozy alcohol behind. There's almost like a dry bakers cocoa thing going on here, too. Thick, almost chewy mouthfeel. I'm not a fan of the musty aroma, and the head here was subpar, but the taste and mouthfeel in this one are really excellent.

This is a really nice beer to look at and to smell. I got hit with caramel notes right away and it's got a nice malty taste, but it doesn't linger. It's nice, and then it kind of fades away. Good beer, but didn't knock my socks off because it feels kind of temporary.

A: [4.00] Beer is a dark bronze to brown sugar color. It has a full finger of off white of head with medium bubbles. The bottle lists the ABV (8.7%) and there is a best by date of (08/13/2016)

S: [3.50] Peat, earthy notes, root vegetable scents.

T: [3.50] Burnt caramel, apple notes, oak, tannins.

M: [3.75] This has above medium body almost a little syrupy at times. The carbonation is pronounced and snappy. No lingering feel.

O: [3.50] This beer is hard to pin down. The flavor is pretty unique and I had a hard time with descriptors to cover it. It comes across a little like a Wee Heavy. Simlar feel and some similar flavors. For 8.7% there is NO hint of alcohol in the beer. It is easy to drink. I am indifferent on this beer. I would not seek it out but I would drink it again if offered.

12oz bottle poured into pint glass:

Look: Pours an amber color with a head that quickly dissipates. Very little to no lacing present.

Smell: Heavy notes of banana, maybe some dark fruit, clove, malty.

Taste: Lots of banana present along with clove, malts, wheat. This beer might be more fitting in the fall on a cool autumn day.

Feel: Medium bodied.

Overall: This type of beer is not my style but wanted to try due to high rating. I haven't had many weizenbocks so not sure how this rating stacks up against others of this style out there. I would give this beer other shot maybe after trying some others of this style to see how it stacks up.

DATE: April 22, 2016... OCCASION: Cavs up 3-0, Joey's first tee ball game, and a better end to the school day than expected... GLASSWARE: Schneider's Weisen pokal... APPEARANCE: the glass divides into a robust copper body that houses a lazy effervescence and a thick, craggy, resistant white head that pillows nicely... AROMA: fragrant, earthy spiciness suggests hops, though the main aroma is an astringent vapor that says 8.7% up front... banana and clove, yes... PALATE: slick, medium-bodied, vibrant body that leaves a tingling at the throat... the aftertaste lingers, but pleasantly so... TASTE: banana and clove, with the bread and toast of a malt-forward beer... enough fruitiness--apple, plum--to complicate the profile...slightly acidic and sweet--challenging to nail down, but enjoyable in its weight and strength... OVERALL: another victory for Victory--an autumn glory that rises in the spring, and shows enough complexity to encourage the next sip... BIG but balanced and packaged in a palatable way...

Look: It is amber that is slightly on the dark side. It has a moussy, tan head. It is hazy and cloudy.

Look: It has aromas of bread, plums, and a bit of vanilla. It also has an alcohol aroma. As it warms, the aroma of banana and raisins become evident.

Taste; It has rich, bread malt flavors with a spicy, clove element. There is moderate wheat flavors and banana. There is a faint tart bite with a sherry like quality that adds to the overall complexity of the beer.

Feel: It has a medium full body. There is a pleasant warming sensation. It also is highly carbonated.

Overall: This is a wheat and malt rich beer with a spicy, but slightly tart kick to it. It has strong alcohol warming with a sherry like quality that is enhanced by the flavors of plums, raisins and bananas.

Pours hazy light amber, thin head forms and recedes.

Nose is big on banana and spice but not much else.

Flavor is more complex than anticipate - really bright flavors of banana, clove, allspice with a bit of funk. Really nice and a great balance - the higher ABV really helps bring it all together with a bit of warmth and a nice sweet aspect.

Feel is right on, it's very much a nicely carbonated, light, clean finish. Would definitely have again, one of the best things I can remember having from Victory.

This is a very interesting and complex beer with some diverging flavors. The flavors seem to meld well and doesn't distinguish between sections of the palate. I get clove, bubblegum, smoky grain, wheat, caramel, woodsy spice, Apple's, yeast and even a nutty barley.

Pours from the bottle dark amber with a 1/2 head that settles to a thin film and ring on top. Smells like bready grains and banana. Taste is sweet malt, wheat and banana. A nice example of the style.

This was poured into a weizen glass.
The appearance was a bit more darker than expected through an almost burnt brown color. There was a three finger white to off white foamy head that dissipated within a good minute. Clingy lacing stuck all around the glass.
The smell started off with some banana esters, some caramel malts, light clove, light toast, light cherry, and cinnamon. Nice, a bit different from the style.
The taste was sweet and spicy through the combination of the previously mentioned flavors. Caramel malts show a bit more presence in the flavor and then lead into the aftertaste and the finish.
The mouthfeel was about a light to medium in body with the caramel malts coming back to grab a light stickiness on my tongue - I don't mind it, but it is a bit different.
Overall, well, its a nice weizenbock for the most part, but I think I'd rather stick to Vitus.

Picked up a single from TW Arrowhead in mid October for $2.99. Best before 8/19/2015. Received at TW on 8-13-15.

Beer poured brown with a nice white head that has some major hang time.

Nose is sweet, dark fruits and bananas are noted.

Taste is dark fruit, sour apple, and some banana.

Feel is medium to full bodied and smooth.

Overall a delicious beer. Love the authentic Bavaria yeast strain. Grab this if you like the style, i know i will in the future!

Perhaps the best weizenbock I've had the pleasure of partaking in thus far . . . Well, l'll have to revisit Aventinus soon. This pours a murky amber almost brown in color and produces a respectable marshmallow head as well. Feel is quite prickly, creamy, and soothing . . . pretty much what I expect for the style. Aromas are wheaty with dark fruits and flavors follow suit. Alcohol is present and noticable but doesn't detract from the overall craftmanship of this weizenbock.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a weizen glass.
LOOK: Pours with a finger's worth of khaki foam that halves itself after 30 seconds. Has a peachy amber color with a moderate amount of cloudiness. There is a large amount of both small and medium-sized rising bubbles. Lacing is moderate and both thick and thin in various areas.
SMELL: Strong aromas of black cherries, figs, plums, bananas, and cloves entangle with moderate aromas of wheat, toasted malts, and alcohol.
TASTE: Initial taste is of mild black cherry, fig, and plum flavors. Mild toasted malt flavors instantaneously follow. Mild flavors of cloves, bananas, and wheat enter right after. Mild alcohol flavors enter lastly as clove, banana, and wheat flavors persist, but toasted malts grow slightly stronger and black cherry, fig, and plum flavors grow much stronger.
FEEL: Medium-bodied and moderately carbonated. Goes down smooth and creamy. Finishes with a hint of dryness that you want to call crisp, but it's not quite at that level.
NOTE: My first of its style. I enjoyed this very well. As beer warmed, alcohol presence was not effected. A rare encounter for me.

Moonglow is a hazy, very effervescent deep amber beer with a slight amount of yeast sediment and a large, creamy, ancient-ivory colored head that leaves nice, thick migratory swaths of fine-grained lacing. The nose is appropriately moderate in intensity: a properly-balanced blend of banana/clove spice, yeast and wheaty malt, topped by boozy overtones. The palate follows the nose: a nice blend of spices over a sweetish, slightly caramel wheat malt foundation with assertive, deep boozy notes and yeast on the back end. The malt flavors and the esters combine to produce a sweet, nuanced banana character that combines nicely with the alcohol, making it a part of the characteristic flavor of the beer rather than a detriment to it. The finish is pretty clean: there's just a bit of booze and wheat to be seen, both of which vanish quickly, leaving a hint of spice that lingers for a few minutes. The mouthfeel is a bit biggish for the light-medium body, and warming from the alcohol; the texture is expectedly creamy and very peppery from the fizzy carbonation. Very drinkable for the ABV- the alcohol is hidden in plain sight. (12 oz bottle, 286 days before best-by)

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle. Enjoy by Aug 13, 2015. So this is sampled on Oct. 23, 2015.

Even though it is beyond its expiration date it does have a handsome looking medium amber pour with a tremendous off-white head. Fluffy perhaps.

The aroma speaks to me with roasted malts, vague fruit, light spice, low hops, and toast.

The body is medium or better.

The taste brings out the fruit characters prior to any of those other esters I picked up min the aroma. Good malty character and little to no hop character. The way I enjoy this style.

Oh man, this was a good beer. Almost tailor made for my tastes.

Pours dark amber with some cloudiness. A white head that quickly dissipates and doesn't leave much lacing.

Smells- Banana bread, caramel, dark fruits, clove, and vanilla

Tastes, Big banana bread taste up front.with some spiciness, bubble gum, and brown sugar. A perfect amount of sweetness. One of the best tasting beers I have ever had. If you like sweeter beers with the bubblegum/banana taste, this one is right up there. The spiciness makes it a great fall beer too.

MF- Nice carbonation and a medium body.

Overall-Big fan of this beer. I think it is the perfect fall beer. Great blend of phenol sweetness and spiciness, Get some ASAP and enjoy on a cool night.

Had on tap at Gunk Haus in Highland NY

Look is deep brown with amber highlights.

Smell is rich peppery with lots of smooth roasted malt.

Taste is just how you would expect from the smell, sweet from the malt with a nice herbal slight peppery hop note.

Mouth feel is full and luscious.

Had this drink on tap at Hope & Olive restaurant in Greenfield, MA. The beer was served, I believe, in a 10 ounce glass.

The appearance of this beer was really great: reddish amber color with a thin, brown head, foamy lacing, and visibly murky. Excellent aromas of various fruits and spices. I picked up grapefruit, raisins, malts, breads, banana, and a light spice like cinnamon. This was a delicious drink that was hard to put down. It had a well-balanced sweetness with a mixture of flavors mirroring those aromas. In terms of mouthfeel, the beer had medium carbonation to a somewhat creamy textured drink. Overall, this heavy alcohol drink not only warmed me up from the cold evening, but it was an extremely enjoyable and sweet drink.

This is such a great brewery. Tons of carbonation with a very Amber color and a thick head that stays around. Super malty smell. The only thing I'd say I didn't like about this beer is that it is super carbonate. A little much in my opinion.

Aroma has a little bit of plantain stem and baker's yeast, but there is also an odd rubber smell I got as well. Or overripe banana. Either way, not very appealing. The banana bread flavor is definitely there with the caramel malt and a little dry hay yeast. Good fall flavor, and hefty mouthfeel. Medium alcohol esthers come in on the backend, which doesn't leave a great aftertaste. Strong in the middle, but weak on at the ends.
