Dark amber color. Aroma is a boozy mix of ripe and dried fruit as well as malt and yeast. Taste was plums, fruit, malt and yeast. A very complex beer ,nice feel, a lot going on but it's all good. The abv is evident but not off putting

This was poured into a weizen glass. The appearance was a hazy bronzed orange color with a two finger white foamy head that dissipated within about thirty seconds leaving less than slim messy lacing. The smell had a sweet dark fruits to gentle spice rolling into each other nicely. Light sweet bready notes balance nicely. The taste wraps together the spice with the breadiness, sweet yet gentle clove. There’s no aftertaste but it does have a slight gentle sticky sweet finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a nice sessionable aspect to it. Carbonation seemed okay for the style but may have died a bit too since it’s an old bottle. Overall, pretty nice weizenbock that I'd have again.

Color is a burnt Amber with a one finger head that subsides rather quickly. Smell is caramel, banana, and some bready malt. Taste is the same but with a bit of alcohol. A nice change of pace from all the IPAs and stouts.

From a bottle from a shop in Gresham, OR. Past the sell-by date, for what it's worth.

I haven't had this beer in maybe 10 years. Doesn't seem to be that popular of a style with American brewers.

This is sort of a fruitier, more apple-y, tropical fruit-forward take on the style, which, for me, begins and ends with Aventinus. Guess I answered my own pondering.

Deep amber with hints of orange and a minimal head. Decent little crown and skim remains.

Nose is all bright pear and loads of bruised banana and some alcohol.

Flavour follows the same framwork leaning more heavily on the banana with caramel sweetness mixed in as well and an undeniable alcohol presence. Finish lingers with yeast and banana. Overall it comes across rich and textured despite a limited range of specific flavours to my tongue.
Slick body with decent filament of carbonation, but definitely a lot of alcohol to be found.

I do not have much experience with weizenbocks, so I can't really compare, but this is an intriguing beverage on its own right, even if it falls outside of my normal wheelhouse. Thanks to @TongoRad for sending this along as part of that big ol' box of NBS BIF#4 MWK goodness!

The lackluster head and retention doesn't inspire much confidence.

Smells like caramelized banana wheat bread dipped in alcohol.

Indeed, the taste is much too sweet, the alcohol far too pronounced.

The weizenbock - like all german wheat beers - is a tender style, that is all about finding the right balance.

This is a very american take on a european concept. And, as is so often the case in these situations, bigger is not better.
