Prima! It’s a German exclamation of joy. It’s a recognition of accomplishment. It’s what escaped from our lips the first time we sampled this mighty pilsner recipe. With heaps of whole flower European hops and fine German malts, we achieved the bracing herbal bite and smooth malt flavor that we sought. Prima… an exclamation of Victory! Prost!

draft pour into standard shaker pint glass. clear golden with a finger of firm, bright white foam head. bready malts on the nose. some earthy hops as well. hints of grass and lemons. taste is similar but with a sharp, bitter or off taste to the finish. doesn’t taste as smooth as it smells. medium-fill mouthfeel. well carbonated. very drinkable in that category. pretty solid pils. been a bit since i’ve had anything from victory.

I liked this pilsner, but it may not be for everyone. The can advertises four flavors: floral, spicy, citrus and lemon. I got two: the spice and the lemon. If you're looking for a mellow pilsner, this isn't it, but if you like a bit of a kick in your beer, this one should work for you.

12 oz. bottle. Pours golden and slightly cloudy. Has a compact, white, head that dissipates moderately. Aroma is sweet and malty. Taste is fairly bitter, which goes against what you would expect from the aroma. It is very hoppy with a medium body and slightly creamy texture. Carbonation is average. The finish is all hops. I’m not a big fan of super-hoppy beer and this one doesn’t impress me either. However, I do like the aroma and the texture of the beer. Would I buy this beer again? Probably not, considering how many other beers are out there that I like better. If a friend served these at a BBQ, would I drink one? Absolutely, as I can see how a cold one of these would hit the spot on a warm, sunny day.

When I first tried this years ago, mid-90s, I remember thinking this is the hoppiest pilsner I've ever tasted. Perhaps the blueprint for the hoppy lagers we see more often now.
The LEGIBLE stamp says 'Best by May 1, 2024', a 12oz can poured into a tall Radeberger pilsner mug. Haven't had it in a while. Doesn't seem quite as hoppy but my taste buds have surely changed.
It's still a world class beer in my opinion. This might enter my regular rotation.

Brilliantly clear light gold, dense white head, excellent retention, rings of lace
Herbal/floral/spicy hops over bready malt
Flavor follows aroma, clean bitter finish
Light bodied and appropriate carbonation
This was my after work beer for a bit, surprised I hadn't reviewed it before. One of the best made German pils in the US.
