12 oz bottle with a BB May 2015 date stamp.

Slightly hazy golden-amber body with visible carbonation and topped by a durable and creamy white head. Outstanding lacing with a near full coat sticking to the glass.

Aroma: strong hops with hints of pineapple and citrus.

Flavor: Seemed a bit too hopped for me at first sip, like many DIPAs, but I quickly adjusted to what now seemed like a rather well balanced flavor with only moderate bitterness. Still, this will not appeal to people who are not fond of hops. Very good complexity with clear notes of tropical and citrus fruits, most notably the tropical fruits.

A: Pours a lightly hazy pale yellow in color with light to moderate amounts of active visible carbonation rising from the bottom of the glass and light to moderate pale golden yellow highlights. The beer has a finger tall sudsy foamy white head that reduces to a couple of small medium thick patches and a thin film covering the majority of the remainder of the surface of the beer and a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass.

S: Moderate aromas of tropical/mango and tropical/pineapple hops along with lighter aromas of pine and citrus/lemon hops. There is a light aroma of slightly sweet grainy malts and a touch of cat piss.

T: Upfront there is a light to moderate flavor of slightly sweet grainy malts with a touch of caramel. That is quickly overtaken by moderate to strong flavors of tropical/mango and tropical/pineapple hops along with a light flavor of citrus/lemon and pine hops. Hints of cat piss and a light to moderate amount of lingering bitterness.

M: Medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Relatively crisp.

O: Strangely for a beer that I describe as having a light cat piss smell and taste, this is actually a pretty enjoyable beer that really grows on you. Nice amounts of complexity and the alcohol is pretty well hidden considering the strength.

Still haven't actually reviewed hop devil for some reason, so feels weird doing this one, but I've had it plenty of times and this looks good. And a date, yay, enjoy by May 24, 2014.

Pours a pasty white fizzy almost creamy 1+ finger head that fades at a med pace, then slows to a crawl, bit of soapy lacing left behind, very hazy sediment straw yellow colored beer.

Nose brings big hops, mild citrus and floral hops, mild fruity note with hint of tropical like, very fresh with hint resin and spicy hop, mild bubblegum, with a bit of a sweet malty base and hint of booze tickle.

Taste is semi sweet, juicy malts with a mild booze warmth, and little blond malt character. Hops are pretty nice, a mild resin with nice tropical fruit again, little tangerine citrus, mango like with more orange zest and orange sherbert like sweet slightly creamy taste. The resin leads to a hint of passion fruit too, and little stone fruit. The hops turn very spicy and bitter, little pine, more resin, very bitter and spicy almost astringent as the finish dries a lot. The malts kept both the booze and hops in check, and once they dry on the finish the hops get rampant, booze is a little warmer but not a ton.

Mouth is med bod, nice fluffy carb, mild warming booze.

Overall not bad, nice balance of very tasty hops, nice malts, and hint of booze, until the finish just smacks your tongue with hops. Nice overall beer though too, tasty, drinkable, at least when it's very fresh. Not a huge fan of the appearance though.

On-tap 3/15/2015 at Battleship Brewhouse, in Fall River, MA served in a snifter glass.

A: The beer is a light gold color, with a short off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a very thick lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains grassy hops, citrus and caramelized malts.

T: The taste starts out sweet with flavors of citrus and caramel. Then a rather subdued hops presence comes in followed by a mild alcohol sting. The malt character is hearty but not too heavy and brings a good balance. The after-taste is slightly sweet.

M: Crisp and a little smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.

O: Tasty, goes down ok, not too filling, strong kick, good representation of style, this is a solid 2IPA to drink for a while.

Pours into a standard pint a clear dull yellow with a tightly formed one finger white head, the pour was not real awe inspiring by any means.Tropical fruits in the nose along with a bit of sweet onion, very fresh and juicy smelling.Flavors of grapefruit and mango are just dripping, almost like drinking mixed fruit juice,in the finish I pick up some vidalia onion, not much of a malt presence but a decent amount of sugary sweetness. This is a big fruity, juicy hopped IPA here, way to easy to drink.

Clear golden color with a bit of white foam. Aroma is not very intense on the hops, you mostly get a clean malt profile. Taste is more hoppy but overall it's still a very clean beer with some earthy bitterness and a lager like malt profile. Body is on the lighter side and feels quite dry but the high ABV is hidden quite well. Overall it's really drinkable DIPA buy it lacks some aromatic hops.

First had: on tap at City Tap House, Philly, PA

Served in a tulip glass, a pristine, clear, golden-yellow color, with a small, retaining, white head, that dotted the glass with lacing; tiny Champagne-like bubbles perpetually popped from the bottom. Nice aroma, full of lemony hops and ripe tropical fruits. After the aroma, the taste was a bit of a let-down. Lemon pith, neutral alcohol, and a lasting graininess, ushering in a wave of bitterness that, though appropriate for the style, seemed to wash away much of the fruity/citrusy goodness that I was expecting from the nose. Slightly metallic in the aftertaste, but within tolerance. Medium body, decently drinkable. Solid overall, but probably not something I'd revisit too often.

Slight haze to the dirty gold color. Excellent blanketing lace from a modest bar poured head.

Raw grapefruit (the actual edible part, not the rind) nose. A bit of sugar.

Tastes like sweetened grapefruit. Not at all I was expecting. Starts with a neutral pale malt flavor. The swallow brings the aforementioned grapefruit, but the finish turns to bitter with a lingering bite. Full bodied with ample fine-bubbled carbonation. Interesting and complex.

Enjoy by 17 June 2016

Pours an effervescent straw color with 3+ fingers of eggshell colored head. Shhets of lacing with great head retention

S: Grapefruit peel, light lemon-grass scent

T: Pink grapefruit, lemons, light breadyness & flinty hop bitterness up front. Pretty juicy once warm, loads of grapefruit & a little pomelo & a whisper of pine. Finishes grapefruitty, juicy with just a little woody hop bitterness mixing in with some bready sweetness & golden delicious apple

MF: Light/medium bodied, deft touch on the carbonation ; great balance

Drinks really easy, a grapefruit assault, required just a little more depth of flavor to achieve perfection; damn close! I will buy this all the time if fresh!

From 01/18/14 notes. Had this on tap at The Jeffrey in NYC. $8 for a 14oz pour.

a - Pours a somewhat clear orange-amber color with one inch of bright white head and moderate carbonation evident.

s - Smells of citrus hops, tropical fruits, fruity malts, grapefruit, bread, and grains. Nice nose, lots of citrus hops up front in the nose.

t - Tastes of fruity malts, citrus hops, lemon, grapefruit, bready malts, wheat, grains. Taste is good but much sweeter than the nose and less hoppy. Good taste.

m - Medium body and moderate carbonation. Light bitterness but not too much.

o - Overall a good DIPA for sure, but after hearing about it and seeing the review on BA I was a bit disappointed. Great smell and a very good beer, but I think Dirtwolf is much better and would stick with that next time.
