For their 19th anniversary, Victory brewers go big by going small. While brewers commonly celebrate with high gravity, exotic spice or excessive hops, Victory shows a lot of maturity that showcases all the hop character of IPA, but tightly woven in a modest alcohol package.

Bright golden in color, the beer's pilsner-esque appearance displays an exuberant race of carbonation to fuel a pillowy white head. Equally bright are its aromas; showcasing citrus, grass, herb and a zip of pepper. Once the beer's short sweetness explodes on the tongue, an understated support closely balances the initial taste.

With the bubbles of the light bodied ale popping away, they ensure a perfumy citrus taste that captures pink grapefruit, orange rind, and hints of lemon in its floral bouquet. Malt sweetness evaporates off the palate just as soon as it hits and the beer is left with a basic starch skeleton in timid support.

The finish comes quick as the fast-fleeting malt character takes with it the abundance of carbonation and developing hop flavor. What's left behind is a linger of fresh-cut grass, peppery bite and a stern mineral taste seeming like tonic water in its bright and refreshing character.

I purchased this at Giant in Linglestown, enjoyed chilled in an IPA glass.

The color is pale golden with 2 fingers of snowy white head with fast rising bubbles within and great clarity with fine bead and spotty lace stickage. The smell has plenty of hop aroma with strong tropical and mild pine ester an almost citrus juiciness in the aroma. The feel is semi-bitter with mild spicy and dry texture with medium high carbonation and light body with dry finish that is long & bitter.

The taste is very good with some hop flavor up front that is spicy and mildly herbal with a gentle bitter citrus taste and grapefruit zest with mild astringency in taste with low malt in flavor with subtle sweetness to balance the assertive hop profile which has a tropical orientation. This is an exceptional, well hopped flavor-wise pale in that it doesn't go too far to be considered extremely unbalanced -a very drinkable beer for 4.5% it might be the best of this style I have had! Kudos Victory!

12 oz bottle. Pours slightly hazy yellow with a medium creamy white head that retains OK and leaves little lacing.

The aroma is bready grainy malts and piney noble hops.

The flavor is bready pils malts with a resiny noble hop finish with good amounts of bitterness. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and a bit watery.

Overall, tastes like a very hoppy pils.

Not that 82 is a bad score . . . But I believe this session ipa is a lot better than 82 (score at the time of this review). But then again, what else should I have expected from Victory. Another enjoyable offering. Well done.

12 oz bottle with new and nicer label.

Looks like a light IPA: it is light and pale relative to the average regular IPA. The smells suggests otherwise: there's plenty of hop aroma and the bold flavor backs this up. Hops emphasize the herbal side but help carry some complexity.

O: actually succeeds as a session IPA rather than being, say, a renamed APA: it has plenty of hop aroma and flavor and he low ABV is not obvious. Not the hop mix I personally want to consume in large quantity but effects will differ across users.
