750ml bought at the brewpub. Cloudy golden yellow body with a towering off white head. Spotty lacing. Light funky yeast and spices over a sweet fruitiness. Some notes of lemon and mild grassy hop. Plenty of fruit and spice in the flavor. Starts with a light citric fruit notes and a peppery spice. Malt sweetness, a bit of earth tone grassy hops and more fruit. Yeasty flavors mixing in throughout. Dry spicy sweet finish. The alcohol is a bit to apparent as this warmed. Well carbonated and fluffy on the tongue. Pretty drinkable and refreshing stuff. A solid all around Saison that I would have again.

Okay, now I get the saison thing. This style is popular for a reason. Victory's rendition made me understand that. The citrus and sweetness are unmistakable but offered judiciously rather than gratuitously. The flavors are nicely in balance. I could drink this all day. The mouthfeel is soft but not the least bit thin or creamy (too qualities I dislike in the mouthfeel). A nice bit of hops comes through. A real winner.

sampled courtesy of a co-worker whose parents live near the brewery. The explosion of the cork from from the bottle was nirvana. The arrpearance as it exited the bottle into the glass wqs a supremely headed cloudy orange brew with magnificent head that had great staying power. The smell was a great example of this style with a mixture of fruitiness and spiciness. Taste was complex with nice a nice spice-clove overtone. Finish was enjoyable with a nice mouthfeel. A thoroughly enjoyable brew with a nice kick that was great for my 200th review.

750 ml. Bright yellow, rich white head, nice carbonation emanating from the bottom of the Ommegang goblet. Spicy pils-like aroma, with a good dose of Saaz hops. Rich and malty pils like flavors, with plenty of saison like peppery spicyness. Real nice mouth feel and body. Clove like finish. This is one of those brews that is a must of of the 750, and should me shunned on tap.

Well, the Victory boys decided to make a classic saison and I think they accomplished their objective. Their saison made with DuPont yeast "is the sinceress part of flattery" that they could have hoped to achieve. No other yeast was used or needed. The appearance, head and degree of carbonation can only be described as surprisingly and pleasingly similar to the classic saison brew. The appearance is a beautiful pale morning summer sunrise yellow, almost like real lemonade. The nose has a noticable herbal fragrance. The taste is all about the Dupont yeast - it has this delightful spicy, zesty, peppery flavor with citrus undertones. The hops are more apparent than its name-sake, but as the brew warms the malty sweetness makes an appearance. The body and mouthfeel are very similar to the original brew.

This is truly a summer delight!! Althought the abv is 7.5%, it doesn't affect the taste or flavor profile. However, after two 22-oz drafts of this beauty, it will get your attention. I look forward to grilling and enjoying some BBQ with this terrific brew.

It is available in 750-ml caged, corked bottles.
