Notes: Sweet meets savory in our Black Forest Cake Stout with Cherry. Roasted Malt balances out lush cherry flavor and ends with a bittersweet finish.

Aroma is roasted chocolate, coffee, and surprisingly detectable hint of hops which was not expected from this type of brew. Nice lacing and decent head retention. The flavor is kind of a broken roller coaster ride that makes you go WTF at least a few times. Nice mouthfeel that starts with bitter sweet chocolate and coffee then gets completely overpowered by a sour aftertaste which then gets overpowered by a bitter after aftertaste. There are two dominant flavors chocolate and sour that are just fighting with each other. It is abrupt and unbalanced for me. Interesting but I will not be repeating this purchase.

I enjoyed this from the bottle chilled in a cup purchased at Wegmans
the color is black with opaque clarity and tan head.
The smell is malt with a slight stone fruit aroma.
The feel is full with dry body and moderate carbonation with roast and slight sweetness with a fruity presence.
This is a good stout without a lot of adjunct flavor more balance of malt with roast and some mild alcohol and fruit but not a ton of cocoa taste.
The overall impression is this is good but not very dessert-like

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a Dogfish Head tulip

L: Nearly black pour with 2 fingers of tannish head. Solid ring of lacing.

S: Roasted grains, dark sugars, and black cherry. Sweet and bitter.

T/F: Just like the nose... rich roasted grains and burned sugars... cocoa, cherry juice... mix of sweet fruit and bitter roast. Also mild tartness from the cherry. Good flavor combinations... medium bodied with nice carbonation. The finish is cherry chocolate.

O: A pretty delicious cherry/chocolate stout from Victory. One of their better 'blackboard' releases. An enjoyable dessert beer.

Hard poured from a bottle. Nice very dark brown, almost black color. Tan head that sticks around a bit and laces nice. Cherry and chocolate smells, with flavour that follows. Nice bitter chocolate and sour cherry is what I’m getting. Good flavour and a very good beer!

Enjoy by 2/19/28. Consumed on 2/21/18. Shoot.

Pours black with a good sized khaki tan head. Beautiful lacing on the glass.

Smell of tart cherries mainly.

A bit of roast bitterness on the back end.

An ok brew. Not amazing by any means. Not terrible.

Pours black with a well retained thin tan head that left spotty lacing. Smells of chocolate covered cherries. Tastes of tart cherries, dark chocolate, a hint of coffee, roasted malts and an unpleasant earthy quality. Thin mouth feel, light bodied, minimal carbonation. Overall a disappointment.

12 fl. oz. bottle
Served in a snifter

This beer pours black and is topped with less than an inch of mocha head that leaves very little head.

The smell is cherry and chocolate. Roasted malt comes through after it warms a bit.

The flavor is dark roasted malt bordering on burnt popcorn. I get a little dark chocolate and even less cherry. The roasted malt leaves somewhat of a bitter coffee aftertaste.

Medium to full mouthfeel

It looked and smelled good. The burnt toast and black coffee taste grew coated my palate and the lack of much chocolate and cherry in the taste was a little disappointing.

12oz bottle poured into glass. The color is black with thin tan head. The smell conists of dark chocolate and cherry with a hint of mocha. The taste is similar to the smell. The chocolate and cherry are mixed together, but the chocolate is stronger than the cherry. This beer feels a little heavy due to the abv. Overall this beer tastes like it's advertised so its a win.

The beer pours out a black color, with 1 finger of super dence chocolate milk colored head------------------ the aromas are of dark roasted malts, dark fruits and cherry cough syrup------------------ the flavors are of cherry tartness, chocolate, earthy/minerality and chocolate teddy grahams, the beer has a thin mouthfeel with a roasted bitterness on the finish-------------- overall this beer was ok, I was hoping for something different, it was to thin and didn't taste like cake, it had a cherry cough syrup vibe with a toasty bitterness that threw me off

Pours a black color. 1/2 inch head of a tan color. Great retention and great lacing. Smells of roasted malt, strong spicy hops, piney hops, slight sweet malt, and slight alcohol. Fits the style of an American Stout. Mouth feel is very sharp and crisp, with an average carbonation level. There is also a noticeable bitterness. Tastes of roasted malt, strong spicy hops, piney hops, slight wood, sweet malt, and slight alcohol. Overall, too sharp and the blend is off, but good appearance, aroma, and complexity.

S- cherry, chocolate and coffee nose

F- sweet dark chocolate with sweet/sour cherry rounding it out. coffee in there as well

M- chewy and moist like a cake. coffee comes through as i drink more of the pint.

O- a decent stout and quite interesting. Only to be enjoyed on a winter day though.

On tap at Morris Tap and Grill in Randolph. Pours a jet black ebony hue with moderate frothing. Sweet cherry aroma replete with hints of chocolate and mocha. Similar overall flavor profile.
