Godawful. I agree with the first reviewer of this beer. I couldn't believe it could be this bad but it is. Looks like a beer, but smells terrible, tastes terrible, no redeeming qualities to this beer. I'm really surprised that Victory would make a beer this bad, but here it is. Steer clear of this one.

Undated 12 oz bottle.
Amber body with a good white head that leaves thin sheets of lacing.
Mild-moderate bitterness for style.
Fruity and herbal aspects in the aroma with a more spicy flavor; pine in both.
Near medium body and carbonation. A bit thin.

Victory Brewing Co. "4 Front IPA"
12 fl. oz. brown glass bottle, "27 MAY 2018 2220P"
$1.99 @ Total Wine & More, Cherry Hill, NJ

Notes via stream of consciousness: Nice golden body, slightly hazy beneath a finger thick head of creamy white foam. The aroma is citrusy with grapefruit, and earthy and piney. The earthiness and pine remind me of a dense pine forest floor, and there's also an almost incense-like character to it. It's quite nice. A little bit unusual. And it's bright and welcoming. Let's hope the flavor lives up to it. Hmmmm. It's earthier than I expected, with less pine and far less citrus. I'm finding it slightly grassy and herbal as well. It's an interesting switch, big in the nose but then softer in the flavor. Except that it's 5.5% ABV I'd say it could almost be a session IPA. 5.5%, by the way, is the starting point for alcohol in an IPA according to the BJCP. Ah, I just noticed there's some very good lacing to it. Very nice. Back to the flavor, it's not that bitter, it might not even be 40 IBUs but it's somewhere around there. If this is an IPA it's really just right over the line from a pale ale. If someone handed this to me blind I'd guess it was a pale ale. Very nice aroma though, and with a nice, sweetish grainy malt base. It finishes mostly dry though, and just lightly bitter, with some lingering sweetish malt and herbal and earthy hops. In the mouth it's medium bodied and smooth with a moderate carbonation. Very easy to drink. You could drink a few of these. And it's interesting, at least I think the hops are slightly unique, but as an IPA I think it misses the mark a bit.

I bought a bottle of this off the single shelf at Giant Eagle just down the street. It poured a clear golden with white head that is leaving a spotty lace. The scent had fresh ground bitter hop. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with pine bitterness presence. The mouthfeel is lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it's ok.

Pours clear-ish gold yellow. Smell is grain, herbal, and floral notes. Taste is sourdough bread, lemon, lime zest, and some floral and herbal notes. Feel is about average for the ABV. Not great, but definitely not bad. Kind of a basic IPA with some sour and funk. IPA meets saison?

Pours an effervescent bronze with on finger of eggshell colored head.

S: Citrus peel, a little breadyness, fades a bit as this warms. Pretty good lacing, average head retention

T: Orange peel, dryness, a little breadyness up front. Bready dryness, a little grassyness & orange as this warms. Finshes dry, crisp, a little grassy & a little citrussy

MF: Medium body, slight carbonation, okay balance, body thins a touch as it warms

Easy drinking IPA, but doesn't finish as strong as it starts

Poured gently from the bottle into a glass mug. Zero head. Poured hers aggressively into a shaker pint and minimal head that quickly dissipated. Minimal carbonation. Thin body. Slight tropical fruit flavor. Slight gum ball sweetness on the finish. Minimal bitterness on the finish. Glad I only gambled on a six pack for $9.99

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a dark golden color with a 1/2inch head. Smell is mild, some citrus, light herbal notes. Taste is of orange peels, malts, very little bitterness. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a mediocre beer, not on par with this breweries other beers.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a Speiglau IPA glass.

Look is a slightly cloudy amber yellow with a thin white head.

Aroma is flora and herbal hops with a malty biscuit note.

Taste is like an IPA saison. Super floral and herbal. Thin body.

American IPA poured from a bottle into a Goose Island tulip. The pour is light gold with a finger of fine white head. Good retention. On the nose I get lemon, pine, pepper, and a little sage.

Medium-light body with a firm feel. Light cracker-like graininess up front, then a sappy, husky hoppy flavor with a little lemon. The beer is not too bitter, but the bitterness is a combination of citrusy, piney, and vegetative flavors. The finish is very dry and appetizing. Overall, a good beer, but not one I would buy again. I am always enthusiastic about trying a new IPA from this brewer because they have brewed so many good ones (Hop Wallop, Dirt Wolf, Hop Ranch, Harvest Ale), but this one is nowhere near my favorites of theirs.

Decent looking IPA golden amber in color with a 1/4 inch of foam that settles to a decent ring. Mostly floral hops and some grainy bitterness in the aroma. Taste is different than standard IPA's much more fruity but still bitter. Body is on par making it pretty easy to crush.

Overall not a bad ale really not very boring and session able. Would get it again at a fair price.

The deep golden amber colored slightly hazy beer pours out into a Duvel glass with a 1/2" foamy white head that begins to recede fairly soon and leaves a nice thick ring of foam around the glass. Eventually the foam becomes a thin irregular area almost covering the liquid. Sipping creates sheets and legs and small patches of lacing.

The aromas include grapefruit, pine and a bit of herbal earthy character along with hints of malt in the background.

As expected from the nose, the flavors include pine, citrus and a slight herbal, earthy character. The hop bitterness is noticeable but not unpleasant and well controlled by some light sweetness from the malt backbone.

The mouthfeel is on the light side of medium bodied and fairly smooth with some moderate, persistent carbonation. The finish begins as the pine and grapefruit flavors begin to recede along with the bitterness until the clean, slightly bitter ending with its touch of dry earthy character.

On the whole I'm enjoying this beer and would be happy to have it again. While it's not particularly strong in either the flavors or the ABV, that would make it fairly easy to have more than one. I think it would be a good choice for a party on the porch or some other social event where this would be on one of a few different beers on offer.

A: golden amber color with a thin white head

S: lemongrass, crackers, and some earthy smells. Not much to the aroma

T: slight bitter citrus, big biscuity note, lemongrass, a generic woody flavor, and sweet lemon

M; medium mouth with lower carbonation

O; a little bland for an IPA. This tastes more like a blonde to me. Not bad, just not a great IPA
