Very Good
Cloud WalkerCloud Walker
Notes: Soaring far beyond hazy, this dry-hopped hazy juicy IPA explodes as tropical and fruity elements float through cloudy formations to elevate hops to the highest pedestal. With its expert dosing of oats, wheat and lactose, Cloud Walker delivers a pillowy soft mouthfeel showcasing an opaque, orangey-blonde color. Cloud Walker is dry-hopped with Citra and Mosaic, making it juicy as it explodes with tropical and fruity hop notes.

Malt: 2-Row Pale, Oats, Wheat

Hops: Citra, Mosaic

Pours an opaque dark straw hue. Huge Mosaic and Citra hop aromas bring tropical pineapple, citrus, and stone fruit aromatics. Flavor is fruity, rich and is backed by a pillowy malty sweetness. The hops spill out throughout this beer but the bitterness is balanced by the residual lactose.

Unlike some of their other beers which come in both Bottle format and CANs, I actually found this one for inclusion in The CANQuest! Thanks goes out to the FGBS for the hookup.

From the CAN: "Soaring far beyond hazy"; "This dry-hopped hazy juicy IPA explodes as tropical and fruity notes float through cloudy formations to elevate hops to the highest pedestal."; "Malt: 2-Row Pale Hops: Citra, Mosaic Brewmasters' Approval: [undersigned] Bill & Ron"; "See all of our creations @".

Upon Crack!ing open the vent, I was pleased to see that it was a brimful craft CAN! It usually occurs with smaller breweries, making this a pleasant surprise. I went with a heavy-handed C-Line Glug which produced a mountainous two-plus fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, French Vanilla-colored head with great retention. Color was … hazy?!? This was downright murky! Call it a murky Golden-Amber (SRM = > 5, < 7). Nose appropriately smelled like freshly squeezed grapefruit juice, which is what it resembled. There was also a whiff of tropical fruity sweetness, but it was far more citrusy. Mouthfeel was medium-to-full, not quite creamy, but on the approach. The taste was more muted than it had been on the nose. The grapefruit was present but not as assertive as the nose had led me to expect. The tropical fruitiness, on the other hand, was a bit more prevalent than on the nose. Still, the two flavor profiles meshed nicely, leading up to a dry finish. It wasn't super (Brut) dry, but it was the kind of dry that I dig, dig? YMMV.

Poured from a growler into a pint glass.
Appears orangish yellow with a nice white foamy head that dropped quickly with some nice lacing.
Smells citrusy, pineapple, vanilla, stone fruit.
Taste follows the nose.
Mouth feel is medium for the style.
Overall a very nice IPA that I would definitely drink again.

12 oz can. Pours hazy golden with tall, long lasting, fluffy white head. Aroma is of citrusy hops, bready malt and tropical fruit. Body is medium and smooth. Taste is similar to aroma. Finish is long and dry. Nice brew.

(12 oz can, canned on 16 Apr 2019... poured into a Trillium tulip)

L: tall, rocky, open-spongy white foam atop an opaque, sunny yellow-amber liquid... foam eventually almost entirely disappears with only a few random splotches of craggy lace

S: powdered sugar, citrusy spice, orange gummy candy, heavily floral, hint of fresh-cut grass... with the foam subsiding, a yeasty oat bread maltiness pokes through, but the nectary, juicy hops pervade... perhaps a touch maltier than NE natives?

T: fleshy orange, powdered cookie, mellow citrus spice in the aftertaste... long after first sip, notably dry on the back half of the palate, with a subtle grassy/leafy, orange oil-y flavor lingering, maybe even a note of lemon-oiled wood grain?...

F: lightly milky up front, but the finish has a wonderfully-sleek, vanishing cut to it, with a warm afterbuzz of hop spice and booze... really enjoyable dryness

O: pretty good - checks all the boxes with the style... I for one am not an avid enthusiast of the style, but I can only see brand loyalty bringing one back to this as it doesn't stand out from the crowd

Victory Brewing Co. "Cloud Walker"
12 fl. oz. can, "CANNED ON: 10 NOV 2019 123958 P FL" and sampled on 16 JAN 2020
$2.49 @ Total Wine & More, Cherry Hill, NJ

Notes via stream of consciousness: 2-row pale malt, Citra, and Mosaic - can't go wrong there, can ya? It's a very hazy golden in color beneath two finger's width of white foam. The aroma is sweetish and juicy with plenty of citrus, sweet berries, apple, and tropical fruits. The flavor follows with more of the tropical fruits moving forward including mango, papaya, some melon, and passion fruit. The orange/tangerine brightens it but it doesn't taste like a glass of orange juice as some do, this is something different. It's got a moderate bitterness to it that leaves it sweet up front but somehow pulls it together in the end. There's a little bit of hop bite, and it is 6.8% abv so maybe that helps. In the mouth it's medium to medium-light in body and smooth with a moderate, fine bubbled carbonation. This really doesn't drink like a 6.8% abv beer so take heed, although it's "crushable" you should be a little careful with it.

DATE: July 11, 2019... OCCASION: watching Holey Moley (yes, we are at my in-laws) with the family, and I am checking up on a beer I had while scheming Little League strategy at the Panther Valley Pub--good memories... GLASSWARE: nondescript wide-mouth pokal... pours from a 12oz. can a soupy, opaque sallow yellow body... its head is off-white and skittish, evacuating quickly to a small ring of off-white bubbles.... I don't make a point of bashing looks, but at best, this conforms to its style... grapefruit and mango figure most prominently, with the mosaic's lemon and fresh citrus mixing somewhat evenly with mellow buttery malts... this one strains to get big enough to drag me in, but it does present its hops agreeably... thin to medium-bodied, juicy sweet at the finish with accompanying warmth... mango, pineapple, and grapefruit burst in the flavor profile, larger than its aroma suggests... the oats mingle thickly with vanilla and resin--it's winning in the place it counts, with ample amounts of citric kick packaged in a sip that belies its 6.8%... guava and peach are also present, making this a bit more complex than originally suggested... listed as a wheat ale on the menu at the Panther Pub, this has some lightness to it that other IPAs lack... up in the Victory pantheon? not quite, but I would be fine sipping this at a backyard barbecue this summer...and I guess every brewery has to have one now....

Look: Very hazy, orange-yellow. A nice, cream-colored, slightly orange head. Lots of creamy lacing.
Smell: Sweet citrus aroma. Tangerine, grapefruit, mango. Vanilla, pine. Really nice and fun to smell!
Taste: Sweet orange and grapefruit, then a biscuit-like malt flavor. Some vanilla. Pulpy fruit juice. Slightly bitter hop finish. Some nice herbal, minty hop presence throughout to balance the sweetness.
Feel: Creamy. A little heavier than medium-bodied. Slightly grainy, but not unpleasant.
Overall: A great, tasty, fruity, hazy, orange-creamsicle IPA. I'm really glad I picked up a 6-pack of this -- it's really delicious and fun to drink.
