With the sublime, earthy familiarity of noble European hops backed up by fresh, clean German malts, Summer Love Ale ends with a surprising burst of lemony refreshment from fistfuls of American whole flower hops. Love Summer, now.

No bottle date. Threshold glass. Graded as a Blonde Ale

Appearance: Pours a pretty bright gold, with steady carbonation and one finger of white head. Very, very nice lacing. Retains a skim of white foam.

Aroma: Initially, something funky; yeasty. A mild funky/resiny hop note, very vague sour fruit note, maybe peach. As it warms the piney/resiny character increases, and the peach turns to apricot and strengthens, with a bit of mango.

Taste: A very hoppy blonde. dry, hoppy arrival. Resinous mid-palate with a vague peach/apricot note floating around in the background. Big bittering, piney finish. Very clean for an ale, and atypically hoppy. Definitely retains its ale character, no mistaking this for a lager. The taste is not appropriate for the style, but I like it better this way.

Mouthfeel: Heavier side of lightweight. Solid, but not excessive carbonation. Not slick.

Overall: This isn't really a blonde ale, it's a golden colored, over-hopped pale ale. But you know what, it's perfect. I will definitely seek this out again as a summertime beer.

Summer Love pours a light yellow with a nice head that lingers and displays plenty of lacing.

The aroma brings to mind wheat fields, grass, and black pepper. It's an aroma I typically associate with pilsners.

The taste is bitter with a hint of lemon on the finish. There's not and more to it, it's pretty bland otherwise. It's again very reminiscent of pilsners that I've had, but more bitter.

Overall, I'm disappointed. Summer Love ale is a bland and bitter ale that smells and tastes like a pilsner. If I wanted that, I would just drink a pilsner.

Completely biased review. I love everything about this beer. Takes me back to some of the best summer memories I have. Nothing amazing, nothing too fancy, just a refreshing, easy drinking beer. My go to session before i saw session as a type of beer. So pop the top on the awesome designed can, fire up your grill (charcoal of course), and enjoy your summer days off all day.

This brew pours a clear straw color with a small white head, some of which lasts as a collar. There is also some light lacing. Good carbonation.

The smell is malty with floral hops mixed in. There appear to be some light peppery hops as well. The smell is crisp and clean, very lager like.

The taste follow the nose with strong malts and light hops mixed together; no particular taste stands out. I guess you could say it is well blended. There is a soapy, anti-stringent finish and yet there is also a crisp, clean lager like element.

Overall there is a lot going on here and I can't figure out exactly what it is. This is a very drinkable hot day, at the beach beer.

On tap at the Mellow in Greensboro.Poured into a standard pint a clear light golden with a sticky 1/2 finger bone white head.Citric and herbal hops dominate the nose along with a toasted malt base, really liked the big play on the hops.Flavors of citrusy hops provide the main flavor component along with light herbalness,a dryer toasty malt base holds true to the finish. This is a great summer beer,a great hop profile and very drinkable, well done Victory.

Summer Love, not to be confused with Donna Summer, or Love To Love You Baby.
Ah, remember your first summer love? Neither do I but I’m sure she still carries a torch for me. Or, more likely a torch and pitchfork. Just kidding, I’m sure she is lovely. Don’t tell her where I live, whoever she is.
Summer Love Golden Ale is by Victory Brewing Company in PA. It is composed of ”noble European hops backed up by fresh, clean German malts” . “Refreshing and aromatic golden ale Enticing earthy and citrusy hop aromas give way to flavors of lemon and pine.”
It comes in at 5.2ABV, slightly above the average brew and is very crisp with a slightly malt ale flavor. There is definitely a bit of lemon scent and taste. The pine may be the last note, I’m not sure. I don’t eat a lot of pine. It is a golden colored beauty.
I’m strangely attracted to beers with blue labeling. This one is a shade that reminds you of being at the lake, the pool or “down the shore”. It also brings to mind the summer sky, on those days without the chemtrails. It also has the golden sun and some squiggly things below which I’m reluctant to guess at because of the summer and the love and all.
This is unfortunately a seasonal brew so like that love you found one summer, this one too must go back home until next year. But you’ll be waiting. A refreshing, easy drinking brew. Thumbs up Victory Brewing.

a: its a clear straw yellow color, with a thin 1/4 bright white head

s: straw, crackery sweet malt, a light strawberry, slight juicy toffee

t: its crisp right as it hits the tongue. taste is pale crackery malts, caramel, lemongrass, a nice (yet faint) grainy/earthy/grassy flavor. on the back is a very mellow teabag-like bitterness, with a floral hop note

m: its on the heavier side of light. medium carbonation

o: its a crisp, light, and non-offensive beer. its the kind of beer that a seasoned beer drinker, or a craft-rookie could like. as the name suggests, it definitely works for a summer afternoon. its a grainy, sweet, and light beer. easy to drink, and easy to put a few back

And, now for something completely delicious!

Perfect pour yielded one-and-a-half fingers of off-white head in the pint glass. Lovely goldenrod color with building carb. That head is fluffy with a few potholes on top. 4.0

Citrusy hops with lemon and grapefruit sharing the bill. Some grassiness that is appealing. Crackery pale malts with a nice presence and an interesting fresh-picked grape scent. Smells absolutely crisp and inviting. 4.5

Tingly hops are more herbal, but still boast some quaint citrus flavors of lemon and tangerine. Almost a pilsner-like malt with this one, clean and dry and with a little bitterness. Some top-notch European hop characters make for great summer brew balance. Grainy with a little sweetness, like a summer ale should be, but with a unique hop signature, like a quality beer should post up. 3.5

A bit sudsy. Body has a little bit more to it than expected. Pretty quaffable. 4.0

One of my favorite summer beers. Thank heavens there's a good American Blonde out there so that I don't have to pick some silly wheat beer. 4.0

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a Sam Adams perfect pint.

This brew pours fairly clear golden blonde color with a tiny cap. The aroma is bready hops, citrus, and hops. It never quite comes together properly, there's really no synergy on the nose. The taste is better, there's nice grassy and floral hops, some lemon, and bready malts. Very refreshing, with a nice hop kick. The mouthfeel is solid, it's well-carbonated and goes down easily. The drinkability is quite good, this one is really easy to drink. Overall, an enjoyable summer beer from Victory, it's delicious, easy-drinking, and has a nice hop kick to keep things interesting.

Served - bottle into a Pint Glass

Appearance
Very minimal head, golden color

Smell
Citrus and grassy with plenty of bitterness in the scent.

Taste
Smooth, but crisp light malts. Taste crackers and grassy, spiced hops.

Mouthfeel
Slight carbonation and an overall very crisp feel in the mouth.

Overall
It's a decent beer for the summer. A little too bitter and grassy for my taste.

Poured a nice golden color with a 1 finger bubbly head. Head faded to a 1/8", but clung to the sides very well and was constantly refreshed from a reasonable amount of carbonation rising from the bottom. Aroma was hoppy with a tad of sweetness, maybe vanilla and bananas. Pleasant, not overpowering in any shape or form. Taste was fairly plain, not much flavor at all. Very faint touch of lactose type sweet upfront, but that quickly gave way to a hoppy bitterness. The bitter faded with time, but wasn't replaced with much of anything. Felt a little watery in the mouth, and the carbonation was a bit sharp and overpowering tickling the tongue. Overall was a bit on the mediocre side. Not what I would imagine a summer beer to be.

Summer Love

Served in New Belgium globe glass

A: Pours clear straw/gold with a small white head that has little retention. Vibrant effervescence.

S: Bready malts, a whiff of sulfur, lemony zest. Light spiciness, too.

T: Relatively sweet on the front end with a toasty malt kick. Off note of paper joins hay and grass at mid palate. Sulfur shows up, too. Light bitterness tidies up mess and dares you to take another drink.

M: Light body and medium carbonation.

O: The more I drink the less I love Summer Love. I understand that the style calls for a malt-forward approach, but the paper and hay indicate something is amiss.

Pours light golden, good clarity, smallish head of white, laces up decently. Smell is earthy, mild malt. Taste is pleasant, nicely balanced bitterness and mild biscuit malt give it an almost crisp presence, very lightly lemony and citric. Wet and refreshing across the palate with a medium light but well crafted body. Moderate carbonation imparts the correct feel to the flavor profile. Certainly one of the best blonde ales I've had.
