Bottle: Poured a cloudy dark brown color ale with a nice large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of residual sugars is quite dominant with some very subtle light smoky notes and some light oak/bourbon notes also noticeable. Taste is a nice mix between some light smoky notes with some bourbon notes and some heavy caramelized malt with quite a bit of residual sugars. Body is full with good carbonation and alcohol is not very apparent. There is less smoke notes than I was hoping for and bit too much residual sugar s for my taste.

750ml corked and caged.
Pours a murky brown color with a slight head. There was relatively little sediment.
Aroma of bourbon, caramel and toast.
In the taste, more bourbon in this aged version then fresh, small meaty smoke but most of the rauchbier qualities have faded.
Caramel, oak, slightly dry and a bit of bubblegum like Belgian yeast, perhaps wheat is used as well. Tannins and earthy, aged and sweet but not too boozy.
Medium bodied, well carbonated, slightly dry.
Overall, this has aged fairly well, but the smokier component was much more pronounced when fresh, which held the beer together more. Quite good, nevertheless, and wonder what it would do it left a lot longer.
