Clear, light copper colored brew, small head production. Definitely lighter than most quads.

Aroma is big and boozy, and in this case, spoiled by a large amount of oxidation. Past that, it's overbearingly strong, and bears notes of pears, honey, caramel, and oddly, hops.

Syrupy and sweet; nearly cloying; raisins, bread, brown sugar. All the hallmarks of a traditional quad are present, but buried beneath an avalanche of stale hops, caramel malt, booze, and oxidation.

Feel is much better than expected. Smooth and oily, the 12% is only felt as a touch of back-end heat.

This is a very aged bottle, which is not ideal for a first try. That said, this is a quad, and I would expect a quad to hold up well to the five year mark or beyond. That this is still incredibly boozy, and loaded with stale hops, reminds me far more of an aged American barleywine than a quad. It's nowhere near bad, but it's not at all to style.

A - dark golden honey with about an inch of head.
S - Nice yeast smell
T - Quite pleasent and very smooth. The yeast definitely has a bite, but definitely in character for this style.
M - Juicy, nice viscosity
O - Well done Belgian quad. It's one of the only beers that I have had from this brewery, but its unique enough that I'd have it again.

Pours a nice amber with tinges of ruby. Minimal head and nothing in the way of lacing on my glass. Smell is strong on fruits such as pears and stone fruit, but there is a strong sweet scent too from the Candi. I also get hops on the end, which I find unusual for the style. The taste is sweet and fruity with a booziness as well. Belgian yeast and piney hops provide a curious finish to this beer. The feel is fairly heavy and there is lighter carbonation than expected.

So, not what I would call a top quad. I have to say the over use of hops may have worked against this beer. It doesn't suit the style. Glad I tried it, but definitely would not have again.

This is a very nice beer. Pours a dark golden honey with about a one inch creamy white head. It has a pleasent yeast smell with a wonderful taste. The finish is quite pleasent and very smooth. This is probably the best beer that I have had from this brewery.

A little lighter in color than a traditional quad but it is a beautiful amber, deep in color and clear. Just a hint of light tan head around the glass. The aroma needs a little time to open but has nice dark fruit and candied sugar. The taste is similar but with more depth than the aroma. The body has a nice full feeling on the palate, smooth with a small tingle of carbonation

Wow . . . Just wow ! No, not the best Belgian inspired quad I've ever had, just wow because I got this for $8.75 ! Oh, and BTW . . . Not a bad take on the style. Drinks like a 12% beer for sure. Reminds me of Mad Elf without the cherries. Good beer . . . grab a bottle a catch a craft buzz

Appearance: lighter than traditional for a quad. Murky brown orange. Looks like a barley wine.
Smell: old musty hops, carmelized sugar, sweet orange marmelade
Taste: huge orange marmelade jelly flavor, malty sweetness like a barley wine, light fruit esthers such as apples, pears, apricots.
Mouthfeel: little under carbonated for the style.

Overall this is more of an American strong ale or American barley wine than a Belgian quad. It's a fine beer and enjoyable though so who cares.
