Serving Type - 22oz caged and corked bottle

Appearance - Straw yellow, golden tan with a 14 inch head. Nice sticky lacing,

Smell - White wine, sour funk, oak, Belgium yeast. Spices, orange, lemon, some orange and tangerine. Smells really good

Taste - Im not a big fan of golden monkey but after multiple times of picking this up, then putting on self, and grabbing again I figured to give this atleast one try. Much like the smell, white wine and a nice big oak flavor is dominate. Some heat from the alcohol is pickup up. Orange and lemon are a featured fruit flavor. Yeasts provide some sweet and funky sour flavors. Plenty of spices provide some flavors. A caramel malt backbone adds a little depth to round out the beer.

Mouthfeel - The wine and oak really hits the tongue at first sip. Palate gets more of the same, with some sour yeasts, spices and a some malts. Aftertaste is wine, oak, and dry,

Overall - Ah its not bad. The barrel aspect dominates this beer, to the point that you don't even really pick up on the golden monkey beer. Drinks, tastes and finishes like a white wine. Golden monkey is in there, but requires multiples sips, and hopefully you had that beer before so you know what to expect. Wine fans would eat this up, honestly you don't have to be a golden moneky fan to like this. Nothing I want to drink again, but this was very affordable for being a barrel aged beer, so I viewed It as not being out much if I hated it, which I don't.

appearance: Gold and clearer than i remember Golden Monkey (i recall that being a bit hazy). Nice while billowy head on the pour that mostly recedes but makes for some messy lacing.
smell: fruit, yeast and a touch of spice. White wine is prominent (Chardonnay? Not an oenophile so not sure.). Quite nice though.
taste: Much like the nose. A nice Tripel with a strong Chardonnay presence.
overall: like this more than i thought i would. I like GM but not a fav. Expected this to be a bit gimmicky but not at all imo. The Tripel, white wine pairing works like a charm.

Pours a clear, bright golden orange color with tangerine edges and a half finger white head that quickly settles into a thin, lasting ring. Minimal spotty lacing left behind.

The barrel presence is really strong in the aroma which is surprising considering it was only aged for three months. Decent amount of oak but not too overpowering or toothpick-like. Subtle vinous wine presence with grape, raisin and other light berries. The most prominent barrel characteristics in the nose are toasted coconut and vanilla. They really stand out and add another dimension to the base beer. That being said, the base beer is overshadowed with faint hints of American tripel. Picking up some ester-y light fruit along with some bready yeast, faint spice and alcohol. The barrel elements smell pretty good but I would have preferred a little more of the base beer in the nose. I don't think I could have guessed that it was Golden Monkey if I didn't know that it was the base beer.

Medium body with soft carbonation and strong barrel flavors that linger over the yeast, spice, light fruit and alcohol into a sweet, slightly dry finish. A little more toothpick than in the nose but not overly charred or harsh. Dry, toasted oak along with some toasted coconut and vanilla. Again, these are most prominent but the white wine character is a little stronger in the flavor profile. Hints of wine, grape, raisin and other vinous fruit followed by peppery spice, bready yeast, light fruit and boozy sweetness. Some sourdough bread alng with cider and pear flavor before finishing with a touch of heat. The high ABV is decently masked, however and this beer is surprisingly easy to drink given it's complexity. Overall, this isn't the most interesting barrel aged beer but the white wine barrels provide a nice variation on the regular version.

Appears an apple juice colored gold with a small white cap that fades into a collar.
Tiny spots of lacing around the glass.
Smell is of apples, apricots, vanilla, poached pears, peaches, and toasted marshmallows.
Taste is of the mentioned aromas with a spicy pepper, and vanillins standing out among the cooked peach pie flavors.
Mouthfeel is medium-full bodied, spritzy, bitter of orange peel, and slightly dry.
