Smells amazing, big grapefruit and lemongrass notes, fruity hops, and pine. Really complex nose probably due to the 4 different hops used. Balanced out nicely with a sweet malty smell. I could just sit and smell this all day long.

Taste is huge on hops, but not throat burning. The grapefruit gives way to pine and malts. Aftertaste is great. A must-try for any hop lover.

Thoughts- I've had this many times over the past few years and it never ceases to amaze me. I have had some fluctuations in clarity and sometimes in taste, but still overall one of the finest beers I've ever had.

Appearance - ours 2 fingers of creamy off-white eggshell head, color of the body is a slightly hazed golden yellow, leaves very nice foam lacing after each sip.

Smell - Really nice nose here, citrus and tropical hops abound, especially red grapefruit, mango and papaya

Taste - Exactly like the nose, just a burst of citrus grapefruit and semi-sweet mango and papaya, some peach here too, a natural citrus and tropical sweetness are perfectly present, no "carmel" flavors here, this quickly transitions to citrus pith, a touch of pine, and then lightly bitter/drying peach pits finish things off, leaving wonderful pockets of citrus and tropical notes in the mouth corners - just fantastic. The alcohol is non-existent - perfectly hidden, slight alcohol warmth near the end of the bottle.

Mouthfeel - This is about a medium mouthfeel strictly from the fullness of flavor here, not heavy in the least, juicy and yet fresh and crisp. Carb is just about medium and smooth, but still provides plenty of bright effervescence across the tongue, and tingles the sides and back of the tongue with cleansing bright edges, great mouthfeel here.

Overall - This is darned near a perfect DIPA. These are the flavors I enjoy most in this style, bright citrus and tropical notes, a natural sweetness that is held perfectly in check by the hops, a wonderful transition to citrus pith and then finishing with the natural bitter dryness of stone fruit pits, leaving traces of the citrus and tropical flavors between sips. Victory has hit a home run here, right out of the park. A Must Try.

This beer reminded me VERY much of stone enjoy by 9.13.13. Color was a little more golden pale than anticipated. A little more malt sweetness than that of the enjoy by. Definitely a pretty big citrus bomb with almost a peach/tropical hint to it. Perfect balance of sweet to bitter as nothing took over the other. Incredibly smooth mouthful and drinkability. Couldn't even detect the alcohol. Actually liked this beer better than the enjoy by and is easily in the top 5 dipas that I've ever had. Victory nailed this one. Probably won't reach status of heady or Pliny (probably due mainly to how available it will be so there isn't the rarity factor) but if you're looking for a citrus forward dipa, this would be tops on many list. Factor in price point ($2 a bottle locally) and you won't find a better dipa out there for the price (and probably worth twice...no, no actually it sucks cause I don't want the price to go up).

Henry Street Tap Room - excellent imperial IPA on tap along with fifteen others. Great place to enjoy the warmth of Saratoga Springs on an Autumn Night. Eight dollars for flights of four; this beer moves to the top of the paddle. Above Troegs, Allagash, and North Coast.

Most recently had in a nonic pint at the Downingtown brewery.

This is one of my go to IPA's - lots of pine resin up front and smooth finish. First sip is always a "wow" for me. Absolutely love the taste of this stuff. Just the right amount of everything as far as I'm concerned. Widely available so I recommend giving this a shot when you see it!

12oz poured into teku

A-pours clear golden with a single finer white head
S- woah! Tons of pine resin, lemon, floral, slight
T - lots of citrus, delicious pine, lemon, some bubblegum, floral again, slight hop bite at the end that disappears quickly
M- perfect, not overly thick like most dipas
O- one of the most surprising beers I have ever had, ever. I had no expectations but once I tried this I was blown away, amazing west coast style double. The balance is amazing and the consistency is dangerously drinkable. At the price, you can not pass this beer up, go buy it now! A beer this good, should not be this easy to buy.

Victory did a wonderful job with this DIPA. IPAs are not usually my top choice, but DirtWolf is a great introduction to the IPA family. The nose is strong as you would expect, but profile is slightly less intense. Certainly a drinkable IPA and a perfect choice for a newcomer to the IPA world.

A: Slightly hazy golden yellow with a super fluffy white head. Nice lacing.

S: Sweet cling peaches, pineapple, grapefruit, mango, hop spiciness. Delicious hop front over malt backbone.

T: Bitter up front and follows the nose very nicely. I'm glad this is year round, I pick it up every time I find it.

M: Highly carbonated, sweet and drying. Double IPA, what you see is what you get.

O: Never had it and find it? Buy it. Had it and love it? Buy a case of it. Done deal.

Appearance - Pours a golden color with one inch head with moderate carbonation.

Smell - Very nice IPA smell. I am getting more of a fruity smell than anything else.

Taste - True to the smell a very nice floral, fruity IPA aste.

Mouthfeel - Medium mouth feel with somewhat lower carbonation.

Overall - A very satisfying DIPA. An definite improvement over Hop Wallop which itreplaced. A definite home run for Victory Brewing.

A: Massive hops give this gold DIPA a slight haze as it sits under a 1” cream colored clingy foam collar.
S: A rich herbal, grassy, woody pine hop nose joins light malt and fruit.
T: Initial grain and caramel give way to lemon, melon, and herbal, woody, vegetal hop flavors to suggest a caramel hop salad.
F: Creamy, medium full body, medium carbonation.
O: A go to big flavored DIPA

A fine IPA, bringing just the right amount of happiness and hoppiness. Very drinkable, quite pleasant. Plenty hoppy. Reminds me of Lagunitas Sucks, and a little less bitter and arrogant than the Stone stuff. Dependable.

An excellent Dipa with almost as good taste as many hard-to-find New England cult beers. Great beer and value. Mix with 50% Lagunitas Sucks and you have a homemade Heady Topper.

Glowing golden body, extreme haze, topped by three level fingers of white medium size bubbles. Thick lace sheets.

Powerful enticing citric aroma, bursting with fresh fruit. Smoothies should smell this good.

Semi-sweet malt hits the tongue like the troops hit the beach on D-Day. That barely registers when juicy fruit explodes everywhere. Big bitter build up that takes command at the swallow and lingers so long the alcohol may wear off first.

Medium/full juicy mouthfeel with nice prickliness.

A simply outstanding DIPA. revisit this often.

From bottles expiring 09 March 2015: Intense pine and moderate grapefruit aroma. Tastes of strong hops with pine, citrus, and flowery notes nicely complemented by somewhat sweet, bready malt; some spiciness that starts fading mid-palate. Long moderately drying finish with grapefruit pith and flowers, and moderate hop bitterness and lingering sweet-saltiness on tongue; some nasal alcohol fumes. Reminiscent of Sierra Nevada's Hoptimum—but with more citrus and flower here—and Bell's Hopslam—but sweeter here—if I recall correctly. I seem to be drawn to brews with grapefruity esters. An excellent American DIPA, with a subtle Arcimbaldo-esque figure on the label representing its rather silly name. —Reviewed 27 October 2014

What can I say that hasn't been said?
This beer is a treasure, and for being a 'shelf beer', it's one of the best, ever.
Fresh, floral and pungent. Slightly dank and tropical.
Drinks great for almost 9%, with zero noticeable alcohol.
IMO, this beer almost has the same hop profile as Zombie Dust
So if you can (which you can) find it, grab it, and enjoy!

This thing has been selling out like crazy with a lot of hype behind it. 2 distributors told me that they have had both Pliny and Heady and this is far superior. Well, I have had both and was finally able to get my hands on a 4pack!

Appearance: Pores a nice golden color. Similar to Pliny, but a tad lighter with a nice 2 finger head with a little sediment floating around.

Smell: HOPS and Citrus!!! All types of citrus exploding from this guy. I'm picking up tangerine, grapefruit, a little lime and some tropical fruits.

Taste: HOP FOWARD explosion for sure!!! The hops kick hard with a citrus taste almost identical to the nose. Citrus and tropical fruit, but it is very balanced.

Mouthfeel: Slick, juicy feel to it as the hops and flavors explode in your mouth. Not very oily or resinous to where it leaves some damage behind on your palate, but the flavors definitely stick around. Has a beautiful aftertaste.

Overall: An extremely solid, delicious, well balanced Double IPA with a hop forward attack, a great blend of flavors with almost no alcohol presence in the taste though it is there. It is a great double IPA. Is it better or close to Pliny or Heady? No, definitely not, but it is solid and if those beers are damn near impossible to get for you like they are for me, this is a solid replacement.

pours a light, hazy amber orange with a huge head. nose; big orange/mandarin zest, citrus hop, grapefruit pith/pulp, and light pine. taste; bright and hop-forward out the gate, with malts well-balanced (even a bit light). lots of sweet orange & grapefruit in the middle, and a decently sweet aftertaste with candied herbal orange and citrus hops on the finish. high carbonation and medium mouthfeel. a very solid ipa that does a great job balancing bright, bitter citrus hops and citrus fruit sweets.

Golden yellow body with a chunky, rocky, creamy white head; loads of fine carbonation. Orange marmalade with a lesser dose of pine deeply infuse the aroma. The abundance of fine carbonation gives the body a nice hint of cloudiness while the lacing leaves a nearly solid yet translucent white wall of foam coating the glass; definitely one of the best looking IPAs I've ever seen. Very soft, very pleasing feel and taste of light, warm malt with an exemplary complement of eye-popping hop bitterness add a velvety edge to things.

One of the finest, well-balanced and intriguingly complex IPAs I can recall having. Glad I ran across this at Coaltrain Wine and Spirits in Colorado Springs. The only down side is I only bought one four-pack. I highly suspect my next visit will leave me empty handed with this beauty.

Sweet, no aftertaste or a tiny bit dry. No stupid afterflavors like berry, chocolate, pepper, etc. Less hoppy than most IPA s at this ABV. SOLID. Your less beer-knowledgable friends will like it AND SO WILL YOU.

An excellent double IPA.

Pours a very rich golden color. Not clear, much more of a hazy pour. Bright. Really, an awesome beer in appearance.

Citrus notes on the nose. Pineapple, grapefruit, tropical fruits. Pine background.

A wonderful citrus taste right off the bat. Then the piney notes and bitterness on the back of the tongue.

Mouth feel is awesome. Very rich and creamy.

Overall, this is an outstanding double IPA. If you enjoy IPAs, this is going to be an excellent beer for you to get your hands on. This beer really stands out over many others in its class. One of the better year-found DIPAs I've had.

Nose: Dank citrus, some tropical notes in the background
Body: Smooth carbonation, lacing is ridiculous, in a good way.
Taste: Citrus forward (orange/grapefruit), with some tropical fruits creeping in the background.

Overall, im not a huge fan of grapefruity beers, but this one does it right, everything is perfectly balanced. Cant tastethe ABV at all, you could tell me this is 6.5% and i would belive you.

This one should be inevery hop lovers rotation.
