it blew my mid that this could be so delicious, but that their base ipa could be so brutal. an odd order of things i guess, but this in isolation is a nice beer. richer amber in color, nice clarity and a nose of rich oily hops yet balanced middle caramel malt. belma is the dry hop, a new varietal that is extremely in vogue right now, love it too, so fruity and southern hemispheric. the nose and taste are the same, with a little more malt girth than is necessary, but it works with the oily and heavy hops. i think a little raw, unrefined, but loaded with the hops and heft i expect in the style, and frankly one of the better beers on tap down there. a very cool taproom too, lots of room and some quite in the back, a nice patio, and attentive service, my first visit was a good one, and this was probably the pick of the lot as their beers went. will be back soon to see if they have anything more interesting. off too a good start though i would say.
