Notes / Commercial Description:
The rich, black-as-night color with the creamy, tan head tells you that the beer in your glass is a stout through and through. However, after you raise the glass to your nose, you will know that Sad Panda is something special. Aromas of vanilla and chocolate are prominent yet balanced with the malt sweetness and caramel aromas expected in stouts. Your first sip introduces the complex combination of flavors you might expect in your favorite coffee – the balanced sweetness of vanilla and dark chocolate flavors with a smooth coffee bitterness at the finish, this drinkable stout hits all of our sensory pleasure points. The sweet balanced finish invites another sip. Just one more….

Identified as a Coffee Stout. I'd probably have included vanilla in the name, as I thought vanilla was the most prominent flavor to this one.

Pours dark brown, verging on black, with a cream colored head. Aroma is vanilla bean, white chocolate, caramel, roasty, and a touch of of coffee. Flavor is similar with the vanilla showing itself first, followed by some white chocolate, roast, and caramel, and closing out with just a touch of coffee and very mild bitterness. A creamy, medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, not a vanilla stout fan but I definitely enjoyed this one. Would drink again.

On tap. Pours a dark black with a fingernail tan head that recedes moderately and doesn't leave lacing. Killer nose of coffee and caramel with some dark chocolate undercurrents. Taste is roast-ey goodness with roasted malt, coffee, and bitter chocolate before a sweet vanilla finish. The vanilla becomes more prominent as the beer warms. Medium-full body and low carbonation.
A nice surprise from a tap list with underwhelming selection. The nose was fantastic and the body was wonderfully creamy. The taste didn't quite live up to the nose, but was definitely rich. It got a touch sweet, especially as it warmed, but was still a good coffee stout.

Meh. Typical sweet vanilla stout with Coffee thrown in to give it a style.

Look - Rich dark coffee brown with a light tan thin head.
Smell - Coffee milkshake with a waffle cone of malty batter thrown in.
Taste - Sweet. Sweet. Vanilla with a coffee chaser. Just enough bitter coffee on the finish to make it drinkable. But not enough to make me want another sip if I hadn't already paid for it. No balancing hops and it doesn't taste like oak is the source of the vanilla to me. I really wish Coffee had been allowed to shine in this. I can taste the character of it hiding under the blanket of creamer.
Feel - Go ahead. Commit. Hit it with the lactose and sit outside the lefthand brewery and sell this out of your trunk at the end of the night. Without it, this is a beer with a mismatched profile. Taste that evokes a thick milkshake (albiet coffee milkshake) stout, but mouthfeel that lets it down.
Overall - Not terrible, but not one I would come back to any time soon.

This is a phenomenal coffee stout. The guys and gals at H&D did a great job of balancing the coffee and milk stout flavors. I grab this whenever it's on draft. Taste is a smooth, coffee flavor with just enough sweetness to balance it out. A bit of chocolate as well but not a stand out flavor. Best coffee/espresso beer I've had.
