A rare find at the Beer Circus, E. Croydon, London. The BB date is Jan. 07.

A: in a tulip-shaped big wine glass it pours a slightly cloudy, amber hue, with a slowly dissipating yellowish beer head, leaving just as nice, sparse lace.
S: deep and intensive scent of exotic fruits and profoundly perfumy--lots of preserved figs, ripe peaches, sweet pineapple, sugar-cane juice, sweetened tangerine peel, molasses, buttery orange-cake, wiht a touch of candy sugar and fruit esters at the back. Overall very very colourfully fruity and not sharp at all.
T: creamy textured candyish and juicy maltiness hits the palate first, combined well with a slightly astringent yeasty texture and lots and lots of slightly tart mixed fruitiness, bringing on board plenty of light citrus-fruit flavour and leaving a tangy and dryish (maybe dry-hopped), slightly clashing mouthfeel mixed of sugar, yeast, citrus-zest, and hops. Pretty mild finish, without unwanted sugary or alcoholic touch, just the way I like it.
M: very smooth, but with good depth of flavour and a lively texture without going thin at all. Overall a full-flavoured but medium-bodied tasty and fruity ale. Very very enjoyable indeed!

The liquid is dark orange-gold and hazy. The head is large, airy and golden coloured. It sinks slowly to a lid leaving some fine lacing.

The smell is strong, fruity and yeasty. Some sour notes of wheat, apricots, apples, green bananas are present. There is a mild metallic bitterness and some alcohol too.

The taste if yeasty with some sour wheat flavours matured exotic fruits and a mild metallic bitterness. The aftertaste brings dough and dry fruity notes like apples and apricots. The finish adds a hint of butterscotch.

The carbonation is refreshing with lots of small-medium bubbles. The liquid is light.

An Belgian pale ale just above average. Nothing special.

Really lovely ruddy orange-nectarine body, slightly yeast-hazed, below a big, poofy, long-lasting, bubbly head the color of old stucco. The aroma is wonderfully fruity but subdued and soft, with notes of bananas, peaches, kiwi, and a bit of earth couched in a marshmallowy sweetness. Hops are mild, just a bit leafy and floral, like wisteria; they get lost in the fruitiness of the yeast, but this isn't necessarily bad. Funk and fruit permeate the palate with each sip; the flavor is first focused on an apple-sweet, white wine-like core, then it spirals off into odd tangents like melon, tangy yeast, bread, orange, and coriander. Despite its sweetness and mild hop bitterness (which becomes less mild as it warms), this is bone-dry and refreshing. Quite interesting, not all that complex, but tasty enough and quite a nice quaffer. Something tells me it might be nice with sushi; I can see it linking up with wasabi well.

Big off-white head, cloudy golden colour. Smell is yeasty, spicy, hints of lemon there is some hops in the nose as well. Flavour is yeasty, spicy and actually a bit hoppy. Mouthfeel is lively, medium bubbles. I had this a year ago and liked it an I still do!

Serving date: 2009-03-11. Served in tulip. Best before: 2011-04-12.

A: Brass colored, hazy and with a big ivory colored head that dissipates very slowly and leaves tons of lacings.

S: Very fresh and pleasant. Sweet fruity aromas up front (banana, peach). Some dirt, yeast and slight alcohol right in the end. A rather powerful smell, mostly sweet but with some tart notes.

T: Not as interesting as the smell at first, but after a while, when the beer gets warmer, it develops in the right direction. Again, plenty of fruit up front (banana, apple, passion fruit). Earth and yeast. Nice mix of sweet and tart aromas. Plenty of malts with a prominent wheat character - rather doughy. The finish gets bitter just for a second, then more earthy yeast, mineral flavors and malts take over. The alcohol gets a little more noticeable towards the end.

M: Medium body. Rather creamy (perhaps because of the generous amount of foam that sticks around) despite the semi-dry finish and lots of tiny but lively bubbles in the liquid.

D: This is more than decent, rather good actually, but not great. Very fresh and well balanced. Really easy to drink. Nothing is really bad, but nothing is really good either. Recommended.
