On-tap 10/23/2016 at Natty Greene’s Tavern in North Attleboro, MA, served in a tulip glass.

A: The beer is a medium brown color, with a short off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains spices, wheat, chocolate, bananas, caramelized malts and a touch of hops.

T: The taste starts out bready with flavors of wheat and a hearty malt character. Then some mild sweetness comes in from flavors of chocolate, bananas and some spice. The hops presence is mild but complementary and brings a good balance. The after-taste is slightly bready and slightly sweet.

M: Crisp and smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.

O: Tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, decent kick, good representation of style, this is a solid beer to drink for a while if you’re in the mood for the style.

Very smooth and yummy, but a lack of rosemary left something to be desired.

A great dunkel. The Rosemary flavor is subdued, but definitely adds somethning to the beer. One of my favorite offerings from Black Hog

Drank this at their brewery yesterday. Poured a muddy brown with significant cloudiness. Decent head retention left some lacing. Smells of sweet malts and some banana esters, a touch of yeasty spice. Flavor is nice, you get the initial sweet tang of the wheat followed by the decent hefe yeast characters. Finishes sweet and bready with lingering touch of spice and some herbs in the very back. Decent mouthfeel, clean, but not as chewy as a typical dunkel. Overall a good beer, I wasn't really getting a lot of rosemary, which is just fine. A decent dunkelweizen on its own.
