Not at all what you would expect from the name. The name suggests a beer that has actual bourbon flavor, but this has none. A little bourbon scent in the nose, but that's it.
What this really is a slightly soured stout with a pretty good cherry flavor. But no stout flavors really come through. I can't help but feel like they could have brewed any neutral flavored beer and achieved the same result. It's also really light in body, but that is fine considering the focus on the beer is on the tartness and cherry flavor. No flavors you would expect from a malty beer like a stout, which is a bit dissapointing because that could have paired really well with cherries.
Overall, it's not a bad tasting beer, but a little mild, and slightly disappointing as this could have been really good. The price ($25) adds to the disappointment as I could have easily drove a mile down the road to OEC and have gotten a better similar styled beer for half the cost.
