Poured into a nonic pint glass, the appearance was a dark amber almost brown color with a finger’s worth of fizzy to almost foamy white head. Some light sliding lace. The aroma had some strong chili spice up front skating upon some roast and smoke. The flavor tried to blend the previously noted aromas but for the most part kept them fairly separated. Aftertaste was roasty, smoky and spicy. Finish was somewhat smoky. The palate was about light bodied with no such sessionable sort of aspect to this. Spices are too harsh. Carbonation did feel fine and the ABV felt fine. Overall, I like the idea but somehow cued up The Offspring’s "Come Out And Play" just to remind me that there’s not agreement in the aromas and flavors in this beer.
