12 FL OZ bottle
Served in a snifter
This beer pours virtually black. It is topped with an inch of tan head that leaves spotty lacing.
It smells extra nutty thanks to the addition of almonds to compliment the hazelnut. The vanilla is nice.
The hazelnut is front and center as in all variants. It has a great nutty flavor. The vanilla is there and adds greatly to my tasting experience.
Medium bodied with a smooth mouthfeel
I am a big, big fan of Chickow! and its variants. This is another stellar offering.

The proper name of this beer is actually ``Bearclaw Chickow" (it's a variant of their flagship hazelnut double brown ale). Double hazelnut brown ale with vanilla and almonds. Served on tap at the brewery (DISCLAIMER: I was fighting a bad cold when I reviewed this, so this beer might be better than I give it credit for). The pour is dark brown, clear, and allows some light to escape through. On the nose I get sweet toffee-like notes, vanilla, malt, and hazelnuts.
Full body with a creamy feel. Very sweet, rich flavor that follows the nose very well. Lots of treacle toffee, vanilla, and hazelnut. Could maybe use a bit more roast. Also, I'm not sure the almonds are contributing much. It really tastes like regular Chickow with some vanilla and more toffee. As the beer warms, the hazelnut definitely comes forward more.
