Appearance: Arrives at the bar with a fudge colored liquid; the cap is impressive and drizzles plenty of lacing

Smell: Peanut butter and brown bread

Taste: Brown bread with the peanut butter flavors growing into the mid-palate; hints of chocolate arrive, after the swallow, and join with the peanut butter in the finish; a little acrid in the aftertaste

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: Really enjoyed this beer; love the flavor the peanut butter powder imparts

Thanks to UcDru for this beer from a massive box of Ohio locals he laid on me.

Pours a thickish looking black with a finger of light tan head that stays for the ride as a thick cap. Leaves bubble wallpapers of lace after a swirl.

Peanuts up front, nicely accompanied by chocolatey roast malt, and a hint of herbal bitter. Wow. Vanilla and coffee appear at times as the beer is consumed.

Not as much peanut in a medium strength taste, but roasty chocolate and light coffee flavors are there for sure, with some bready holding it all together. Sip ends with a rooty herbal bitter drying it out. Vanilla at times pokes in at times is completely absent as the beer comes to room temp.

Light in mouth, not as clean a flavor bill as would be optimal, not a great finish, and bit overcarbed. Definitely the beer's worst feature, though it doesn't destroy the enjoyment much as it could.

Overall a tasty beer with a bit of a rooty herbal thing going on in the linger I didn't care for, and not as "fresh nut taste" as others I have tried. Recommended but not highly.

2/27/2015 - 12oz bottle at Todd's Pub

Every once and a while you come across a beer that just rubs you the wrong way. Harsh artificial flavors quickly drop this mess to bottom of an ever increasing list of "peanut butter cup coffee porter" whatevers. I personally found this to be an unbalanced mess. Not recommended. I still have quite a few Listermann's beers to try so hopeful things get better from here.

Poured into a Wicked Weed snifter. No freshness date.

A- Pours a mostly opaque black color with a 1/2 inch dark tan head that retains well before becoming a thick ring around the edge of the glass and a half sheet of sheer surface foam. Resilient lacing leaves large clots behind.

S- Intense creamy peanut butter aroma. Sweet and milky.

T- Taste is nutty as well but isn't quite like the aroma as there are other things in play like vanilla and milk chocolate. Kind of like a peanut butter dessert but there's enough roastiness to keep it from being cloying. Also the ABV is hidden quite well.

M- Typical porter feel with medium carbonation and a body leaning toward the fuller side. Also slightly slick.

O- Pretty good for what it is, but not something I would reach for more than once.

I like it, but I'm not sure I like it any more than sweet baby jesus which it tastes exactly the same as... but at twice the price.
