The colour is gold-brown, the liquid clear. The few bubbles don’t manage to create a foam.
The smell is rich and mature intensively sweet with raisins, caramel, orange marmalade, brandy and ripe apricots.
The taste is sweet-sour in a rather peculiar way: Sweet raisins and brandy mixes with fresh lemon juice and sour fruit candy. Light body. The aftertaste brings some complexity with orange peels, lime juice, young bourbon and birch sap. The finish is harsh with unripe plums and lemon candy.
The carbonation is light with a few short-lived bubbles. The liquid is light and harsh like … I don’t know… Some cheap very dry German Riesling?
I tried this beer fresh at a festival in 2013. I noted that it tasted odd and that I should store a few bottles a few years. Now, I think it has passed its peak with many years.
