The colour is dark brown, the liquid clear. The two-finger head is beige and compact, and it sinks slowly leaving lots of lacing on the glass.
The very elegant smell is spicy with some roasted malts, grassy hops and pumpernickel bread. Some red berries and a hint of sweet liquorice.
The taste is at first bitter and roasted. It develops with ripe red berries, charcoal, bitter herbs, BBQ meat and some cocoa. Medium body. The aftertaste brings some oak-cask flavours, lingonberries, chocolate liquor, light clean bitter notes, some fresh herbs and a touch of prunes. The long dry finish is smooth with cocoa, brown sugar and a hint of banana peels.
The carbonation is medium strong with lots of small fresh bubbles. The liquid is smooth.
Quenchable. In some ways, it reminds of a fine porter, but it is much cleaner and more… brown. An excellent beer.

Pours a very dark reddish brown with thin, tan head.
Smell is malty and a bit roasty with notes of kavring and leather with some fruit hints.
Taste is roasted and malty with notes of brown bread, coffee beans and fruity hints of citrus. Moderate bitterness, and a dry, clean finish.
Mouthfeel is medium, well carbonated.
Overall, a very nice Schwarzbier, good mix of fruity and roasty.
