I spent a couple days in Roanoke in late June for a convention and had the pleasure of trying out Soaring Ridge. The venue looks to be an old freight transfer station with multiple truck doors on each side. All of the doors on the street side were open making for a really nice vibe on the warm summer evening. They had six beers on tap all of which were very basic styles (Kolsch, IPA, Porter, etc) but the quality was good. Roanoke seems to be transitioning into a craft beer town and Soaring Ridge's location not far from downtown looks to be a nice addition. I wouldn't say it's a destination brewery, but if you find yourself in Roanoke it's worth a stop.

Visited on a Friday evening on our way to Blacksburg. They had a band but the place was not too crowded.

We visited six brewery/brewpubs over three days and this place was clearly our least favorite.

V - Large, open, with garage doors to the outside. Looks like it would be a good place to take the family. Lacked the coziness of many places I like. Felt like one of those big bars where everyone is drinking BMC and getting drunk for the sake of getting drunk. 3.25

Q - All the same glassware. No complaints about quality.

Ser - No real bar. Just standing in line for a beer. 3.5

Sel - The selection was narrow and the beers had no distinguishing qualities. 3.5

Nice brewery in the Roanoke area. The have a good selection of beers on tap and cans to go. The taproom was open air garage with a couple of picnic tables outside. The staff was,on point and very helpful and friendly. The had some decent music entertainment, two acts, solo female who was a pretty good singer and two guys who were ok. The food truck this night was a little underwhelming. They had a good crowd filling the bar, tables, and some standing. It worth a visit for sure.

Stopped here on a craft brew tour. They give a nice tour of the facilities, though they are small so that's fairly easy. Good explanation of their brews and ingredients. Simple presentation but a nice setting. Decent number of beers on tap and service was good too. Not necessarily a place to make a point of visiting, but if you're in the area it's certainly a nice little spot to visit and knock back a couple of beers.
