Perfect marriage of Black IPA and Rye IPA. Very drinkable. Arguably the best brew of the many great ones at Grist House.

Great look nice smell. Would rate higher. But theres a terrible aftertaste. Like they used extract instead of whole grain. Except then also mixed the extract with chimpamzee chyme then burnt it with a hand torch. Needs fixed.

Pours a dark brown color with a tan head. The aroma is toasty and smells like a stout. Cocoa flavor from the malts start things off, assertively hoppy with a pine element, and just a hint of rye. The rye flavor gives of more of a grainy note than a spice note. The feel is light bodied, moderately carbonated and has a semi-dry finish. Overall, this is a solid hoppy stout or black IPA. Leans more towards a stout to me, which I liked.

Pours opaque black with a tan film for a head.

Smells of earthy malts and roasted coffee beans.

Flavor is of rye malt with licorice, roasted coffee, some earthy smokey elements, and a pronounced pine hoppiness.

Medium body with tingly carbonation on the tongue.

A pretty good dark IPA with some interesting flavors, I wish the rye were more noticeable though. Worth a try.
