What in the hell is happening here? I ordered at a fairly large outdoor tap trailer, but there’s also an indoor bar on the other side of their property, though its wide open to the freezing weather. Still, the more substantial building closer to the outdoor tap station doesn’t seem to be for public use. Perhaps I was a little miffed that all the indoor seats were taken and all the outdoor firepits were crowded around and I was relegated to a cold table on this cloudy, snowy day, but I could only tolerate two beers before I had to warm back up.
Anyway, they literally had 7 NEIPAs on draft, so of course I went for the brown. Also, unless I missed something, they don't seem to offer flights despite having a fairly sizeable taplist. Anyway, the brown was decent enough, but I threw a dart at the board and got an NEIPA next, which was no where near the quality I found down the street at Hitchhiker. It was passable, but nothing I'd come back for.
There doesn't seem to be in-house food, but there was a food truck parked on the road, and people were utilizing it enthusiastically, and their website appears to list a schedule of trucks for the week ahead.

Really lovely and unassuming. Even on a wickedly hot day, plenty of shade to be had and a light breeze keeps you cool. Great number of summery offerings... Hard to choose which one, they're all so good. Nice food truck on hand. Unfortunately, only porta-potties available after the beer runs through.... I take that back, I just saw a restroom sign in the little taproom.

Absolutely the best Craft Brewery in Pittsburgh. Fantastic staff, beers, grounds, and food trucks. Too many dogs (cool dog, bro).

Great brewery in Millvale just north of Pittsburgh. Good service, excellent beer, good selection and almost always a food truck. Lots of outdoor seating, but you must like dogs and kids. It's worth the trip for the beer though, regardless of your views on the crowd.

Packed when I went. I also didn't like how many babies were out with their parents on a Friday night and the dogs also could have done without being in a crowded bar. Outside area with food truck and covered patio is really cool.

Grist House was the first of seven breweries we visited in the Pittsburgh area in Feb 2017. I knew they had been rated the #1 brewery in Pittsburgh by Paste Magazine, so I was expecting a lot. The crowd on Saturday afternoon on a cold day was big. Standing room only and lines at the bar. We found a spot and got a flight. Great selection of beers, although none of them blew us away, all were decent. The best part of the visit was the 30 minute chat I had with the co-owner/brewer, Kyle Mientkiewicz. I'm not sure how or why, but we got into a long discussion about hop contracts! The Grist House web site says Kyle and Brian like to hang out and meet customers. It's really true!! That made this a memorable experience. It's so cool to see a place like this in an older neighborhood, bringing all shapes and sizes of people together to get good beer. A must stop for any beer lovers in the Pittsburgh area.

This place went from a quiet neighborhood hidden gem to one of the most hopping places in town! Complete with large outdoor seating area, occasional local bands, and an awesome crowd, Grist House offers a fine selection of craft brews! Each one seems to be better than the last!

The Grist House is located in Millvale, PA. The brewery is hidden behind a few taller buildings. There is indoor and outdoor seating. The exterior is a bit nondescript, but the interior feels warm and inviting. The staff was friendly and made us feel at home. It was a lively place with a good variety of beers, ciders, and non-alcoholic beverages. There was a food truck serving pizza during our visit. This is a diamond in the rough of Millvale.
