This stout arrived at my table exhibiting a dark, dark brown color and thick head. Nice inviting appearance, with some lacing. Deep malt smell, sharp floral hop in the background. Creamy taste with a heavy malt presence, preceded by faint chocolate. The hops seemed to add a prickly bitterness here and there, although the malt was dominant. Good overall taste. The mouthfeel, however, was decidedly thin - for an outmeal stout I expected a bit fuller body, and I felt this detracted from the beer somewhat. Still, this was an enjoyable oatmeal stout, and this pint made the stop at Jack Russell's well worth it.

Pours a tan, one-finger head that goes very slowly and leaves a good lace. Black color. Low carbonation and heavy bodied. Coffee nose. Starts on the sweet side with a roasted chocolate/coffee flavor, finish is smooth. $4.25 for 16oz glass at Jack Russell's Brew Pub Bar Harbor, Me.
