Beer Thirty has an open beer garden with picnic tables and covers, and some limited indoor table seating. Lots of cornhole courts, dart boards and ping pong tables. Has a separate fenced area for off-leash dogs. Super dog friendly place. Food is available from Carpo's restaurant next door through a side window. There are also BBQ salmon sandwiches next door at the Fish Lady.
Beer Selection is broad (thirty taps) and has plenty of local south Bay options. They also get some hard to find SoCal beers. Sours and ciders are excellent. The staff is very knowledgeable and can recommend good options. They have a big cooler for cans and bottles and an exceptional collection of non-refrigerated bottles, especially sours. 5 oz tasters are available in addition to full pours.
Just one exit north on Hwy 1 from Sante Adarius, so you can check them out.

This really is a great place if you like to hang outside with friends and drink beer. They have ping pong tables and corn hole set up and on both occasions I was there on a Saturday and there was no wait for either. The selection is mostly local, but once in a awhile they offer something truly hard to find in California. My favorite part is how often the taps rotate, while I was there for about 5 hours on my first trip, at least 6 of the taps changes beers.

As mentioned, close to SARA ... but could not be a different vibe. Definitely an outdoor hangout spot that brings together beer people ... and people looking to PARTY!!! (I literally saw a woman throwing up in the parking lot.) But the selection is solid, the outdoor space is excellent, and the weather usually nice but mild; what's there to complain about? (That wasn't a rhetorical question: the answer is "the bros.")

This place deserves a lot of hype. It is five minutes away from SARA but is a much better hang out spot than the aforementioned. They have a fantastic bottle list (for carry out or on-site consumption). The outdoor area is second to none. They always have a stout on nitro that they combine with a cold-press coffee and it is fantastic. Many times our trips to Santa Cruz turned into long afternoons / evenings chilling in the beer garden at Beer Thirty. No food but you can bring from anywhere, including a couple places in walking distance.

I use to really like this place. It's less than a mile walk from my house, pretty solid selection, and I like the layout. But the number of hipster douche bags that hang out that is too much. They clog up the lines sampling multiple beers like there wine tasting. And if I see one more of them grooming their soup catchers I'm going to puke. And I swear to god those mother fuckers press their flannels.

Nice place with good tap list, bottle selection, and outdoor seating, but the prices are ridiculous in my opinion. Any slightly limited/hyped beer shoots up to $10-$12/12oz, even stuff that is on the shelf at Whole Foods for $8-$10/bomber. I don't understand why people pay those prices when SARA is down the street.
EDIT: Since my original review I've been keeping up on their tap list/prices. I've changed my rating to reflect that. It looks like their prices have been better than I initially observed. Maybe I visited on unusual days...
