Nice enough place, worth the half-hour or so detour I took on a recent trip through the area. Older lady who was very nice was running the place, she went into the back to look for things I didn't see out on the shelves, but she wouldn't let me break up any sixers for singles. They had some singles, but I really wanted some Great Lakes singles since I haven't seen them in Philly. No dice. EDIT: However, after I posted this review, Jaimie, the store owner beermailed me and told me this was a mistake on the part of the employee who was working and that sixers can indeed be broken up. While this does not put the Founder's rye or the Edmund Fitzgerald into my stomach, I really appreciated the feedback and thought it was pretty stand-up of her to let me know for next time. Thanks, Jaimie!

Selection, however, is pretty fantastic. Complete Alesmith line, last three Vertical Epics and Stone 7th and 8th, full line of Founder's (so excited for the ones I picked up), Victory, Three Floyds, a bit of Rogue, Great Lakes, and quite a few Belgians.

Prices were pretty reasonable, I though. The Alesmiths were nine bucks, but I don't see them on this coast very often, the Founder's stouts were 10 for a four-pack, and most of the stone stuff was just a hair under 5 bones. All in all, a pretty nice place, but more singles would be nice. The lady running the store was really helpful, though.

I was in Columbus last weekend for a wedding and wanted to pick up some BA B.O.R.I.S. while I was down there. I read some reviews and was going to try Kenny Market, but decided to ask at the hotel if there was anywhere closer. They sent me here and I was very glad they did.

When I walked in I was prepared to be disappointed. It seemed like they mostly dealt with wine and I didn't immediately pick up on the beer section. As I walked toward the back I found the beer in the back corner. What they may lack in selection, they more than make up for with quality brews. And for the record, the selection was good enough for me, but just not quite as much as you would expect from a top notch bottle shop.

I grabbed my BA BORIS, a Brux, a Chocolate Yeti and an Imperial Biscotti Break. As I was cashing out I saw some FFF 22's behind the counter with "Do Not Sell" on them. I asked what they were out of curiosity and the cashier told me they were Arctic Panzer Wolf, Apocolypse Cow and Hoppin Frog Naked Evil. They were also for sale, they were just tagged that way so the entire case wouldn't be sold to one person, which made me happy to hear. I picked up a bottle of Naked Evil and gave them a little bit more of my money.

I will definitely be stopping back in next time I am in Columbus.

I've been shopping off and on at From The Vine for the past several years. Jamie the owner has always been helpful and always loves to talk beer. She has a tiny dog that she ocassionally brings to work with her that always seems delighted when each customer comes in. While I'm more of a fan of their beer selection my daughter is more of a fan of the puppy! She only dedicates about an aisle to beer but what is in that aisle is top notch. She has all the Stone Verticals with the exception of the 02, I picked up an 04 for $25! Their prices seem to be spot on with everyone else and she does seem to have quite a few things that you're not going to find elsewhere, like: Stone Verticals, which she commented about a previous review noting they've been on the shelf for years, she said the beers are rotated with back stock so they are not out in the light for more than a few months at a time. My last haul I picked up: 04 Vertical, Pannepot, Hop Heathen, Backwoods Bastard, Better Half and a bottle of Immort. Highly recommend this shop! Support local businesses!

The store is fairly large, but the beer is shoved back into a corner and takes up a small fraction of the store compared to wine. The beer was a bit disorganized, with some of them having no price labels and some beers stocked in multiple spots. The lady working the counter seemed nice enough and offered help.

The selection was decent, though nothing that really excited me. Perhaps it was good by Ohio standards, but I was a bit underwhelmed given the reviews. The only thing that really caught my eye was some older years of the Stone Vertical Epic, but opted out of getting any since I tend to distrust beers that are years old sitting on a shelf in the open.

Prices were a little above average. Not unreasonable, though.

Overall, a decent store. I don't know how it compares to other stores in Columbus, but it wasn't nearly as impressive as the score had me expecting.

She does get some rarer things in compared to an Andesons or Kenny Rd Market or Weilands. She has a very nice wine shop and it just seems the beer selection filled empty space in her store, but that is ok I guess.

I have always been treated nice here, which is a plus. The service has been the best thing about this store for me. She does seem to have her regulars and seems to treat them better than the occasional shopper, but thats to be expected in a small shop.

Overall, a small selection, which may include rarer brews, with friendly service.

I was able to get many local beers from the area that I cannot easily get, nor get at all in California. Jamie the owner was able to answer my questions and gave me some advice on a brewery to visit since I was passing through Akron. I did find some Founder Breakfast Stout, KBS, Dirty Bastard, then some Southern Tier crème brûlée Imperial Milk Stout, mokah, pumking Imperial Pumpkin Ale. Of course I got some Columbus IPA, and then Thirsty Dog Twisted Kilt. I should have picked up some Thirsty Dog Siberian Night, but I did so at their brewery in Akron. They also had Hoppin Frog B.O.R.I.S. The Crusher Oatmeal Imperial Stout.

I also grabbed a bottle of Stone Cherry Chocolate since it was sold out locally in California.

I could only purchase a four pack of the Founders Breakfast Stout, which forced me to drink two the night before I left Columbus. However, this was a small price to pay, as this beer is excellent.

Stopped into From The Vine today with a friend of mine, just looking for something out of the ordinary. Boy, we got more than that. I guess we were lucky to come in when we did, because there were all sorts of gems on the shelf. Ended up leaving with a Black Albert, 1999 and 2001 JW Lees Harvest Ale (up to this point I've never seen one prior to 2006), a sixer of White Rajah, Nøgne Ø Two Captains, Stone Cherry Chocolate Stout collab and a Stone 12th Anniversary Bitter Chocolate Oatmeal Stout. In addition to these, I saw Stone Vertical Epics (I believe she had 06 thru 10), Pannepot 2007, Brooklyn Black Ops, Beer Geek Breakfast, Peche Mortel, Rocheforts & Fantome among many others that I cannot recall. She has a lot of the more hard to find beers here and you won't be able to find much swill. The selection isn't real extensive, but you're always bound to find something you can't get anywhere else in Central Ohio. You'll find Founders, Bell's, Great Divide, Heavy Seas, Lagunitas, and all the more common craft beers as well... Some prices were a bit steep for some of the more rare brews, but everything is priced accordingly and some were a little under priced. The 1999 JW Lees was only $8.99, which I thought was a little low.

We reached the register to check out, and the woman said that most of the beers we were purchasing had just been put on the shelf shortly before we arrived. Apparently she occasionally pulls some of her extremely aged/rarer beers out and puts them on the shelf for sale. I've never experienced this before until today. Glad we came in when we did. I'll try and make it up to Lewis Center more often and suggest that others give this store a try. Nice to find some rare gems every now and again. Thanks much to the owner of this shop.

I had to stop here because this store is so highly rated. It was a bit out of the way and my GPS sent me to someplace in Westerville, but I eventually found it. When I first walked in I wasn't sure if I was in the right place because all I saw was wine. The girl at the counter (found out later she's the owner) asked if I needed help and she took me over to the beers. At first I thought there was no way this was the place because it was only one aisle of beer. After seeing the selection my opinion changed. They have about 8-10 cooler doors dedicated to six packs and singles and they have about 4-5 wooden racks of bombers, singles, 750's etc. They carry 3 "bad" beers..bud, bud lt and miller lt, everything else is high quality. I walked away with, Evil Twin Yin, Soft Dookie, 3 different Fantomes, Ommegang Zuur, Hop Dam, Mikeller's Our Side and a Dugges 1/2 Idgit. All in all this was a great stop. Service was great, the owner knows what she's talking about when it comes to beer. If you're looking for maybe not the largest selection but the selection with great quality beers, this is the place to go.

So, I decided to stop in this shop after reading the reviews on this site and one of the other beer sites. When I first walked in I thought there was no way this was the place that got all these rave reviews..reason being, all I saw when I first walked in was wine! The young lady at the counter, who I figured out later was the owner, asked if I needed help..I asked where the beers were and she led me into heaven! Now, they do only dedicate one aisle to beer but that one aisle blew me away! They had pretty much all of the Alesmiths including one bottle of Decadence, which I snatched up! They had Black Ops, pretty much all the Stone beers and Bell's beers, Rochefort 8 and 10, Peche Mortel, tons of Fantomes and just too many others to list! I highly recommend this place to anyone that's looking for great quality beer. By the way, the owner is quite knowledgeable so if you have any questions I'm sure she could answer them!

I walked in today on my way to Cleveland, hoping to find some goodies. The store is largely devoted to wine, which is cool, but not what I'm looking for. Most of the selection seemed to be understocked / sold out. Maybe they stock the place on Mondays and I'm an idiot for showing up on Sunday, but otherwise there's no excuse for how barren the place was. Still, I grabbed two ST Choklats, which I was not expecting to find. Otherwise, the selection is average for an Ohio beer store. Service was kind, but not very interested in my visit. I still think Belmont Party Supply in Dayton might be a better bet.

EDIT: I went to this place on a Sunday after a big Ohio State football game, which might explain why the shelves were a bit barren. I didn't realize that when I wrote the above info.

I headed over here because of the super high rating and decided to give it a shot. I like walking that there is two signs, one says no hard liquor sold and two that the store is kept at cellar temperature. That sadly was pretty much the high point. This store is mostly centered on wine, over 3/4's of the store is devoted to wine, with a sliver against the wall containing wine. The quality of the beers there was actually pretty good, as was the pricing a buck or two less than most places. Selection was really blah though, they did have good beers but nothing outside of 2 Buckeyere Brewing beer and Alesmith beers that I can't get in Chicago. A decent place if you want to stop by, but this is NOT a destination place for people outside of Polaris let alone Columbus.

Great little place just off Polaris Parkway, great selection. Purchased Southern Tier Creme Brule here for less than I had seen it at any other store. All her products seemed to be priced below what I had seen previously. Coolers against one wall filled with craft and imports, wine racks on every other wall, and also a section of wine and beer gift items.
Owner was very helpful and nice, offered suggestions and knew her products well.
It may be a drive for some, but well worth it. I'll definately be going back again. Has harder-to-find beers, and if not, owner will discuss ordering the product for you.
Also has well-organized and diversified wine selection.

I have been to this place twice now in the past week. The first to see what the buzz was all about and grab some good brew; the second to take my girlfriend out to nice place for "her" to grab some "wine."
Anyway, this place does really have a lot of specialty stuff that will take me quite a few trips to get caught up on everything that I would like to try. From imports, to seasonals, to limited releases, they have a lot... all but the staple craft selection you find at most other places. It's almost as if this place has TOO MUCH specialty (as in limited offering) beer, they don't have any room for some good wholesome year round offerings from all the solid breweries out there.
Both times I went, the one person working was definitely a wine person and both made a comment about other customers liking what I had picked for each trip- no personal knowledge was present from either worker on beer.
Overall, this place is very clean and neat and they have a lot of great stuff to choose from. Like I said, I will be returning here often to get some beers that I have been wanting to try but haven't found elsewhere...
Also, pricing is in line with any other place that has some of the same beers this place offers; there aren't any sticker shocks on the shelf that will make you go elsewhere to buy what can be found there.

*Beers off the top of my head found at From the Vine when I visited= Delirium Tremens, Fantome, most Great Lakes, Southern Tier, Rogue, DFH, Buried Hatchet, Brew Kettle, Ommegang, some Great Divide, few Smuttynose, Rochefort, Terrible, Weyerbacher, and I think some local stuff from Buckey Brewing and Elevator... there is much more to be found here, but those come to mind first

This is one of my favorite shops in Columbus. The selection may be small but it is always top notch.

You can always find something that will surprise you. Ive seen things like 120 min, WWS, Olde School, Fantome, Squall IPA go through here. I have heard stories of even Westy 12 making an appearance on the shelves.

Usually this is the place I go for limited releases and highly hyped beers. The owner, Jaimie, is a big help. She has made plenty of useful suggestions, answered questions I had as well as reserve some bottles for me.

It isnt very often that I make it all the way out to this shop, but when ever I do I am not let down.

Updated and edited review.

From the Vine can be a little out of the way, and it's not a be-all-end-all destination spot. It is mostly dedicated to wine, and it doesn't have a huge selection like you might find at The Andersons or something.

But... what you will find is one wall of the establishment dedicated to craft beer. Every beer is carefully selected and worth its place on the shelf.

I honestly wish I lived closer by, but the distance keeps me away when I'm just searching for a quick fix to get me through the weekend. But any time there's a limited release or hard to track down beer that's available in Ohio, Jaimie has it.

This is the type of place that must have a ton of regular customers. On my first visit the owner, Jaimie, was helpful but otherwise somewhat disinterested. The more I came around she learned that I was a customer who often spent a good deal at a time, and now I can say that she has reserved several beers for me, and even sold me something from her personal stash in the back of the store when I was hunting down a sold out beer for a Christmas present. I was very grateful and offered her a bottle of homebrew as thanks!

Regular beers to look for: all GLBC, all limited Founders and Bells releases, Mikkeller, Hoppin' Frog, Bruery, the occasional Cantillon, the various Yeti incarnations, and more. Jaimie usually has a small singles section, and a couple coolers if you need something quick and cold already.

The establishment is well lit, easy to find, and quiet. I highly suggest checking From the Vine out when the opportunity arises. Strike up a conversation with the owner (who is the only person I've ever seen working) and you just might walk out with something special not on the shelves.

Also, Jaimie holds regular wine tastings a couple times a month and will sometimes also have beer tastings as well. From the Vine can also be found on Facebook, where Jaimie leaves somewhat regular updates on new wines and beers. Sign up for the email list and get updates on the tastings as well.

This has been a store I have been meaning to visit and finally got around to. Located in a run of the mill strip mall, the store doesn't look like much from the outside. On the inside, about 3/4 of the store seems to be devoted to Craft Beer. The selection was good, not extensive however, not that it's bad, it's just the type of place your going to find some rare stuff but not ALL the usual suspects.

As far as service went, it was a slow sunday afternoon and the women at the desk seemed friendly enough asking if I needed help with anything from behind the cash register awhile after I entered the store. I declined, so I can't comment on the knowledge of the staff, but from others I have heard that they are fairly knowledgeable.

My own find this trip was a Unibroue 15, which I was excited about. I'll be going back again.

I visited this store the other day with nothing particular in mind to look for. I didn't really see anything that struck my fancy. However, they did have some good beers, to be sure.

They had Westvleteren, DarkLord, vintages of Unibroue, vintages of Stone Vertical dating back to 03 - but I wasn't really looking for that. I realize that certain beers age well, and I've enjoyed several. Most unpasteurized micros don't. I'm a huge fan of "freshness". Always have been - ever since I visited my first brewpub and saw - from down in the basement - the tap lines running straight to the holding tanks.

That said. The staff truly is knowledgeable. Great wine selection too. Definitely worth a visit.

I have the feeling that if I lived nearby they'd willingly stock anything I wanted them to carry in exchange for my loyalty. I don't know this for sure, just guessing...

Quickly becoming a regular at From the Vine when I'm back in town. In terms of the establishment itself, a great little place located off Polaris Parkway just a couple blocks down past the shopping center on the righthand side of the road when coming from I-71. Located in strip mall that is a bit inconvenient to turn out of on your way out if there is traffic but very visible from the road and easy to find. The place is well lit and friendly, with a fairly sizeable wine selection, a small rack of glassware on the lefthand wall, and an aisle of craft beer along the righthand wall past the counter. The owner is very friendly and is happy to lend a hand, or you can just read her notes that are written on a dry erase board on the righthand wall as well.

In terms of selection, let me say that this place is not huge and primarily seems to deal in wine. That being said, the bottles it does have are of very high quality. First time I came in this store, they had Westy 12 on the shelf (albeit for $30 a bottle, but what can I say, they are difficult to import). A good selection of regional beers from Michigan and Ohio, including Bells, Great Lakes, and Thirsty Dog amongst others. Also, they are generally well stocked with Alesmith and I've come away on several occasions with Speedway, Old Numbskull, and the Wee Heavy. Also a great variety of imports, including many belgians and other well respected beers such as Thomas Hardy. The owner also seems to have a fondness for Southern Tier, as they've been very well stocked each time I've come in.

For the variety of beers, this small store really does the trick in the Columbus area. The prices are reasonable, the owner is very friendly, and the selection is very good. Stop by if you're in the area.

Made a stop while passing through town; ok, not really through town, cause this place is a little out there, but you get it.

Tucked away quietly anchoring a strip mall, the store was empty sans the gal (Jamie?) at the front. Cordial greeting and non-invasive offer of help, just what I like.

Beers all down the right side. Nothing massive. Several shelves of warm bottles to choose from, a box of singles to mix. A couple coolers of cold ones to peruse.

Not an extreme selection, but high quality all around. I found some Rigor Mortis, some Baretree (07), Flying Mouflan, Laguniatas (IS, IPA), SN-SH Harvest, and some Mad Brewer beers (never seen before, but recommended by Jamie).

While I won't need to drive all the way out here, I'm glad I did make the detour to check out the shop. If you are in north columbus, it would be a worthwhile stop.

Buckeye Brewing 76 IPA

Troegs Flying Mouflan
Southern Tier Mokah

Thanks to BeerFly, I was pointed to the direction of From The Vine on my way out of Columbus for the ROTR weekend.

The store is easy to find at the west end of Polaris Parkway in North Columbus. The store anchors the left side of a newly constructed strip mall. Parking is not a problem with lots of spaces directly in front of the store.

The beer selection is nearly top knotch although not as inclusive as I would like; albeit the place is a bit more dedicated to wines than craft beers. Of the beers that I saw were the Stone collaboration beers, 5-6 Toegs, Lagunitas, Unibroue, Rogue, Buckeye Brewing, and Southern Tier. Their selection spans about 100 craft beers with nothing BMC related. The beers seem to be a bit more pricey than the same ones found in Cincinnati or Lexington.

The store is extremely clean and open with an airy feel. Sleek with metal shelving, stained concrete flooring, with simple and elegant decor. The beers are located on the right side and from mid floor to back.

The gal at the front was extremely helpful and helped me with phone calls to locate special beers that were in the back or at other local stores. She was fantastic in conversation and made us feel at home while there.

Ultimately, I think that other good Columbus beer stores probably sell the same or similar products so I will probably re-visit From The Vine if I am in the area, but not likely to travel too far out of the way to shop here again.

All I can say is this place always has something new and exciting to try. It may not be the biggest selection around, but it's the best selection of craft beer I know of.. bar none!

The other key to this location is the store owner Jamie. She is always willing to help and is very knowledgeable about both beer and wine. The friendly watch dogs are a nice touch as well.

Last but not least, if there is a beer about to hit the shelves, Jamie is happy to hold a bomber/6pk/4pk back and contact you when it arrives. Just to give you an example, last week I picked up the highly coveted KBS (Founders Kentucky Breakfast Stout) she was holding for me. You got to love great service!

After reading some great reviews for this store I decided to stop by while I was in the Columbus area.

I arrived on a Sunday a little before 5 and was the only customer in the store for the majority of my visit. The lady working was extremely helpful, friendly, and gave some great suggestions on beer to try and was readily available for the myriad of questions I had for her.

The prices seem in line with what I have seen in other stores in the area and the selection is a lot better than some of the reviewers would have you believe. Yes; the store is mostly wines but the beer section is incredibly varied and contains a lot of great brews that I've found on this site.

Only a few minutes from I-71 and the Polaris shopping center; the location is very easy to get to and thankfully not deep in Columbus.

I highly recommend this store to anyone just getting their feet wet(like myself!) with the craft beer scene and hope you have as great of an experience as myself.

They had a good mix of some hard to find and quality craft brews. They also had a new supply of Avery Brabant which I really wanted to get. They had a good selection of locals which is what I really want when I travel. The lady working was very knowledgeable and helped us as well as the other customers. I am relatively new to the Columbus area, having moved here a few weeks ago, and I must say that if this website is correct, and that this is indeed the best beer store in the area, I have some reservations about my beer-drinking future here in Columbus. Compared to beer stores in Wisconsin, the selection at this store was limited and what was present was massively over-priced.

This is primarily a wine store, and the beer selection is limited to one aisle. And much of that aisle seemed empty or out of stock to me. And what was present was not mostly mind-blowing. Some Great Lakes, some Hoppin' Frog, some Bell's. I bought two Brew Master bottles I'd also seen at Blacklick Liquors. However, they did have some hard-to-find beers such as Struisse and AleSmith.

And what was present was highly over-priced. The few 12oz singles were mostly priced at $4.99; many of these same singles would be less in WI. IL, or IN.

The lady proprietor behind the counter was very friendly and helpful. But I can't say her store offers a great bundle of value for the discriminating Beer Advocate.

I decided to give this all fives because it deserves it. The selection may seem small, which it is, and it's lacking in stuff that one can find about anywhere. What matters is the treats that can be found: Alesmith among them. I even found some Pannepot, which is the only time I have ever seen a De Struise beer in OH. There are other goodies but I'm going to leave that to you to find out what they are. The service is exceptional and the owner, Jamie (I may have spelled it wrong.) is probably one of the nicest people I've ever met in a beer store. She's also willing to hold products for you for later pickup. It's definitely a place to check out in you're driving around north Columbus. I definitely recommend it.

I'd say for any Beer Geek in the Columbus area, this is the best place to go! It is located on the North side of Columbus, outside of SR 270 in small shopping plaze just West of the Polaris shopping mall. The store is probably 75% dedicated to wine and 25% beer, and is kept at a cool 60-degree-ish temperature (why don't more shops do this?).

Where you might not be blown away by the size of the beer aisle, it is the quality here that really counts. You can regularly find Jolly Pumpkin, Stone, Founders, Bell's, Alesmith, Southern Tier, Cantillon, Unibroue, Avery, etc. On a less regular basis, you can find some of the rarer Dogfish beers, some occasional Three Floyds stuff, and I even snagged a few New Glarus bottles a few weeks ago. There are rumors of other rarities such as the Westy, Dark Lord, etc, but I won't confirm or deny these.

The staff is about as good as they come. Jaimie, herself, is as knowledgable as anyone you'll come across, and the rest of the staff is extremely helpful as well. If you live in the Columbus area or are just passing through on your beer voyage, stop in and check this place out. It'll be worth the effort.

So, I guess this will become my regular spot when I'm travelling to see my in-laws now. Jaimie, the owner, is super helpful, and they are able to get a bunch of stuff I can't get in Chicago. It's a great place for folks like me who are looking for some beers from Stone, Alesmith, Weyerbacher, and some others we can't get in Chi-town.

I got a nice haul from here about two weeks ago, including: Stone Old Guardian, Double Bastard, Ruination, 08-08-08, and a handful of IRS; Alesmith Speedway and Yulesmith; Green Flash le Freak and DIPA bombers; and a bunch of singles including Founders Imperial, Two Hearted, Weyerbacher Imperial Pumpkin, Siberian Night, Green Flash West Coast IPA, and a few others I'm not recalling at the moment.

Also, was able to do a nice trade with Jaimie (cabgoddess) to get a bottle of '08 GL BA Blackout. Thanks!

I really failed to see what all the hype about this place was about. I stopped by here on a Sunday, and I couldn't believe how bare the shelves were. I was told that they'd be getting shipments throughout the week. The store clerk was not the owner, she made that clear, and was incredibly rude and condescending. She couldn't answer any of my questions about their beer selection, that didn't bother me. She took incredibly harsh tone when I searched for a beer on my blackberry, telling me it was against store policy. I then asked about a shipment of Westvletern, I had read a recent post mentioning a spotting of it here. She told me that she had heard it would be coming out in later February, the beers release date. I couldn't help but chuckle to myself, I mean if you don't know then don't try to bowlshit a bowlshitter. The cooler was almost completely empty, with exception to a few easier to find 6packs. Needless to say, I was very disappointed.

Edit: I received an extensive and sincere apology from the owner. I feel compelled to up the service, as it shows that she really cares about her customers. Thanks Jaimie.

First, I just want to state that this place has several quality beers that are difficult to find such as, AleSmith Speedway Stout and Yulesmith. They also have a variety of regional beers from Avery, Rogue, and Bear Republic.

The trip was definitely worth it! Jaimie, the owner, managed to find the last bottle of Westy 12 and Pannepot for me in the back room. Left with a huge smile on my face.

From the Vine has a superior collection of rare beers, I just wish there was slightly larger selection. Overall, a great store if you're traveling through Ohio.

I've been there several times now and this place is probably one of my favorite places around.

Quality and the selection of brews is totally insane. Everything here is high quality. They always have something new everytime I'm here. Tons of Beligans and other nice brews. Not the largest selection of beers but they make it count for sure.

Service is outstanding one of the best I've been to. Knowlegdeable and friendly. There's an email list you can sign up for and they'll hold stuff back for you!

Fantastic "beer tastings" for only $5.00 per person a few times a year. Tasted 12 beers which was certainly a value - discovered some porters that I usually don't like, and loved them.

Staff is very knowledgeable, and helped me pick a few bombers based on my general likes and dislikes. Discovered London Porter from one of the tastings, which is now my personal favotire. Wanted to pick up a six pack of Carlsberg (for the husband) while I was there, but they didn't have it - but were happy to tell me what store had it close by.

I am on business this week in Columbus and decided to visit From the Vine based on previous outstanding reviews. I was not disappointed! Excellent selection with the Belgians well represented including Trappist Westvleteren 12. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable.

Some of the Belgians I remember there include the following: Scaldis, Chimay, Trappistes Rochefort, Tripel Karmeliet, Delirium, Scotch Silly, St. Bernardus, and several De Dolles. There are many other selections available as well as a great selection of craft beers. I bought some B.O.R.I.S. as well.

I would highly recommend this store to anyone living in or passing through the area. I'll definitely be back.

Great Store in a small strip mall on the north side of Columbus, very near to the Polaris Mall area.

About 2/3 of the store is devoted to wine. Everything is spaced out nicely. Nothing is cluttered and this helps to make for a better shopping experience.

The staff is great. A nice lady at the checkout, who appeared to be the owner, talked to me about home brewing and seemed to have a detailed knowledge of each beer she sold.

The best beers from all the region's craft brewers (bell's, hoppin frog, great lakes, etc... were available). Tons of Stone, Unibroue, and De Ceil lined the shelves and coolers. A few smaller shelves boasted well selected, high quality Belgians from St. Bernie, De Dolle, Boon, etc... and even...Westy. Yep, they had Westvletteren, but at $30 a bottle for either the 8 or 12 I wasn't interested. High Quality German and English imports like JW Lees were also available. Overall, a superb selection.

Great shop and only about 5 minutes from the highway. Stop in if you're ever in the area.

Stopped through a few days ago on my way back to St. Louis from Pennsylvania. This stop was a good one and well worth it. Thanks to the BA's who recommended it to me.

The owner was fantastic. She let me come browse around even though she wasn't technically open yet. It was only 15 or 20 minutes early, but still. Then she let me hang around for like 2 hours. I was doing a beer run for some friends too since we can't get a lot of the stuff where we live. She was helpful and always making suggestions. We talked about all sorts of stuff and it was a nice break in my trip. She was really generous and kept offering me a few bottles from the back. She scrounged up an extra bottle of KBS for me as well as an 07 Dark Lord. In addition to those, I picked up some Dogfish Head Red and White, Black and Blue, Burton Baton, World Wide Stout, Aprihop. Some Flying Dog Wild Dog Doppelbock. Alesmith IPA, Speedway Stout. Some Hoppin Frog and Lagunitus for my friends. I also bought several bottles that are eluding me at the moment. In all I spent close to $200. A few of the bottles seemed high priced, but some of them just go for that much. I was happy to pay the prices, they weren't that bad. Plus, she only charged me 15 for the Dark Lord. A great stop, and it sounds like she pretty regurally gets shipments of Westvleteren.

Stopped in the store on the way home from a trip to Cleveland. Was an average sized store but mainly focused on wine. The back right corner held the beer. The selection wasn't huge and had nearly all the same brews I could find back in Cincinnati. There were a few breweries in stock that I don't see often, though. They also had a Westy 8 on the shelf for $30. They had a decent bomber section for a (mostly)wine shop and all the big named Belgians. The lone employee didn't know much about the beer section but offered to sign me up for their random tasting sessions. Pricing was fair, even for the imports. A $30 Westy is a bit steep but not unheard of. Overall it wasn't a terrible place. I would have liked to see a broader range of breweries. I was a little weary about the age of some brews as I saw plenty of FFF Dreadnaught and Gumballhead still on shelves.

Went to From the Vine after seemingly scouring central OH for years trying to find a reliable beer source. It's out of the way for me, but definitely worth it. The selection is not the largest in the area, but it is by far the most eclectic and high-quality. They even sell the very rare Westvleteren 8 and 12 for $30 a bottle (the blonde was sold out). One bottle each of Dogfishhead 120 and Olde School were even available. My other favorite brew store in OH is Belmont Party Supply (www.schwartzbeer.com) in Dayton, and while From the Vine doesn't offer the sheer volume, I think it definitely trumps Belmont in the "hard-to-find" department. Several varieties of beer from the top breweries are available, not just one of their more popular choices.

We ended up getting: Avery Hog Heaven, Ommegang Ommegeddon and Chocolate Indulgence, Three Floyds Dreadnaught and Gumballhead, a Victory Storm King 6pk, Hoppin' Frog Mean Manalishi Double IPA and Southern Tier Gemini, of which the Gemini, Ommegeddon and Dreadnaught I have not found anywhere else. I will definitely be back soon. Oh, and there is a beer tasting there on Friday January 26th.

Highly Recommended.

Stopped by this place over the weekend. As you walk in the store just keep to right and walk towards the back. About half way through you will start seeing the beer.

Comes across as a clean wine store that is located just outside of Columbus. I have been there a couple times now and have never seen more than two customers in the store.

Service was good. The lady behind the counter had some good recommendations and knew the prices of the high end beers without having to look anything up.

Selection was very nice. Included Bear Republic, Stone, Three Floyds, Arcadia, Weyerbacher, Founders, etc...

Here are some brews I walked out with:
Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout; Anchor Christmas Ale; Alesmith Yulesmith; Rochefort 8; Dogfishhead 120 minute, World Wide Stout, and Olde School Barleywine; Barrelhouse Boss Cox; and many more...

I have now been here several time and am just getting around to reviewing. The owner, as always, was very friendly and very helpful. I asked what was new and interesting, and what I got was a guided tour of the entire beer stock. Approximately 1/3 to 1/4 of the store is beer, with the rest being wine. They have a small selection of Belgian and Trappist beers, including some nice selections from Cantillion. No Westy, although I hear it has been there in the past. There is also a good selection from US brewers, including many from Stone, Alesmith, New Holland, Jolly Pumpkin, Southern Tier, Weyerbacher, to name a few. The had lots of stouts this time of year, including Stone and Brooklyn Brewery. They did have Sierra Nevada Harvest Ale and Stone's Old Guardian so all in all, it was a good shopping day. There are some beers in coolers, including some macro-style beers such as Corona and Red Stripe. I live too far away to go here all the time, but when I want to replenish my cellar with great beers that I can't find other places, I know I can come here.

Was really looking forward to my visit to Ohio so I could go here. From reading the other reviews I walked in the door, saw the women behind the counter and went straight to the back. The beer selection did not dissapoint. Service left a little to be desired, but I was expecting great things. I held back a little on my purchases, but left with what I felt was a good selection. One let down was they had sold the last bottle of Trappist Westvleteren 12 the day before. They had a good selection of Rogue, southern tier, three floyds, and also had a lot wine if your into that.

So I went to this place as my last stop for beer in Columbus. I walked in from the torrential downpour from hurricane Erin. I walked in the door and wasn't greeted by the woman sitting at the desk, busy at her computer. Nobody else was even in the store. The right side of the store displays all the beer that she has in stock. Among them were: DFH, Bear Republic, Cantillon, Founders', basically anything that is available in OH and at the going price. The best par twas the Westy 8 that she had on the shelf ($28) and the lone bottle of Blushing Monk from Founder's ($15.99) which I bought. There were some coolers with cold beer too. There really wasn't a whole lot of beer out on display compared to the amount of room the store has. I would have liked to see more shelving and larger displays, which I'm sure would amount to more sales for her. I could easily see this store dominate Columbus' craft beer sales. It's funny how the stores here carry mostly the same stuff but they each have a little gem waiting to be had.
