I moved to Gaithersburg from North Carolina four months ago, and although I like living here generally, the beer siuation is grim. Prices are 30-50% higher than I was used to paying and most specialty stores feature mostly wine and macrobrew.

This is the best store I have found in the area so far. It's kind of a pain to get in and out of since the area is crowded and busy, but the selection is better than any I've seen nearby and they have better prices than most to go along with it. Lots of MD and DC breweries and a happening scene at the bar, although I usually carry out. They have bombers and Belgians and English beer no one else seems to

Awesome place! If anyone knows about Montgomery county knows that this place is limited to what the department of liquor control has. But they always seem to have just about every hard to find beers that the county has to offer. Their pricing is the cheapest in the county. Dave and Arash do a fantastic job at keeping this place the best possible spot for beer lovers. Total A++ place!

I'm from Kentucky so I suffered from sticker shock, as the prices were nearly twice what I pay at home. BUT, they had 20 taps of very good stuff, I had Abraxas! The bottle selection was very good lots of top shelf beers. Your gonna pay for it but it may be worth it.

I stopped in today to look around and I plan to be back. Beer and wine to go as well as a nice variety of taps for growlers and consumption on premises. This is as good as it gets in MoCo. A broad selection of beers, lots of local beers. Prices are about what you would expect in MoCo; maybe a little bit cheaper.

I think they're aiming for the non-shelf beer section of the market. I didn't see any Sam Adams or Sierra Nevada. Lots of locals, including DFH (although mostly bombers), Union, Flying Dog, Heavy Seas, and some locals that I hadn't heard of.

They do serve limited food but they said that you can byo lunch and enjoy a beer and lunch at one of the two or three tables.

I live down the road from this place, but had not visited until recently. I will be spending a lot of time here. Sure, the prices reflect the MoCo location, but they are surprisingly good given that fact. What's more, the tap/growler prices are actually pretty good, and the selection and rotation are top notch. What really sets this place apart is the apparent love for beer. Most of the workers really enjoy talking about brews, and that coupled with the layout of the place, the great music playing over the speakers, and the frequent tasting events from craft brewer's big and small makes this not just the best spot in the county for craft brew lovers, but indeed a worthwhile spot for anyone in the D.C. area.

EDIT: As time goes on, these guys continue to do what they can to be competitive with prices (like Stone Sorry Not Sorry at 8.99 while 9.99 in some places in NoVa) and offer great events and products. Downtown has distinguished itself as THE spot for beer in Mo Co.

As has been stated in other reviews, this is hands down the best place to get beer in Montgomery County. Of course, residents know that Montgomery County is (I think) the only county in the nation where the Department of Liquor Control needs to purchase the beer first and then it can be acquired by independent stores. This results in higher prices and very few decent places that sell a variety of quality beer because it's easier for these stores to establish themselves in bordering counties, DC, or VA.

That said, this place offers a phenomenal selection and the prices aren't too bad all things considered. They also have a nice draft selection which utilizes a digital beer display and about 20 rotating brews. This is on my way home from work, so I can easily envision myself making a habit of stopping here to grab a fresh beer and browse their latest haul. Staff is also very friendly and knowledgeable, this is the only place you need to bother going in Montgomery County.

This place is awesome, bets place in Montgomery County to buy beer period. The staff is always extremely friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable. Have 12 taps so the ability to grab growlers is awesome as well. Being that this is located 5 minutes from office, frequent trips are made here.

The best spot in the area to purchase and share a beer. The only spot in MoCo to carry doughnut and biscotti break.

Excellent draft and beer selection. Wine selection looks good too, but I do not drink it. They offer ~12 drafts that are constantly rotating. You can follow them on FB and see what is on tap. They offer 2-4 oz pours too!!!

It doesn't get better than this in Montgomery county. Dave is the man. It's great to finally have a place like this in Montgomery county.

Pretty nice selection for Montgomery County, but the prices to match. Has mix-a-6 of most of the beers they carry. Both a beer and wine bar. Better than most in the area.
