BEER INFO

Brewed by:

Style: American Imperial IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 10.00%

Availability: Spring

Notes / Commercial Description:
Inspired by the Orphic bone tablets which explore the dichotomous nature of life and death, our Bone Tablet series reveals the many sides of the IPA. Transmigration of Souls is an irresponsibly hopped Double IPA, bursting with life from an absurd amount of aromatic hops. You’ll experience a bouquet of orange, lemon, and tropical fruit sitting on top of a clean, dry malt body.

Food pairing
Transmigration of Souls is very overpowering; just pair it with another Transmigration of Souls. If you must eat, Transmigration of Souls is bold and dry, with an abundance of tropical fruit. It will pair well with spicy food.

Composition
Hops: Azacca, Lemon Zest, Apollo, Wakatu
Grain: Two row barley, white wheat
Fermentation: American Ale yeast

My brother who lives in Atlanta gave me a 6 pack of beers from local breweries from there. I always like trying beer from other small, regional craft breweries who's stuff doesn't get distributed where I live, so this was a very cool Christmas gift from my brother. Poured out of a 12 oz can into one of my tulip glasses, this beer pours a clear, medium golden color with lots of streams of little bubbles rapidly and continuously rising to the beer's surface along with a huge white head that's well over an inch thick with good retention. Has really good lacing. Some of the best lacing I've seen in a very long time. Aromas of some bready malts with bits of caramel sweetness followed by big fruity hop aromas of citrus, pineapple, melon, cantaloupe, floral hops. The taste is pretty much the same, with some mildly toasted caramel malt sweetness followed by very fruity notes of citrus, pineapple, melon, cantaloupe, floral hops. Really good balance of flavors here too. Has a somewhat crisp, yet also smooth and frothy, medium to full bodied mouthfeel with moderate carbonation. Has a very clean finish and slightly fruity aftertaste. Really glad I got the chance to try this one.

On draft, Loosa Brews, AL.

Pour is a straw gold, hazy with some frothy head that sits on top and leaves pretty heavy lacing as it settles.

Getting predominantly mango on the nose, definitely fruity with a backbone of sweet clementine. Not much of a hop presence at all.

Whoah, the flavors here I am not a fan of. Very bitter, earthy, floral.. no balance of malt or citrus.. just in-your-face hop overload combined with a grainy, unpleasantly boozy taste.

A tad thin, medium carb and a juicy finish. Lightly sticky, no complaints about the feel.

Got in a BIF from KMitch. 12 ounce can into tulip glass, no can dating. Pours moderately hazy golden amber/light orange color with a 2 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with awesome retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Thick foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, red apple, mango, melon, berries, citrus peel/rind, peppercorn, pine, wheat, cracker, biscuit dough, light honey, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, red apple, mango, melon, berries, citrus peel/rind, peppercorn, pine, wheat, cracker, biscuit dough, light honey, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, red apple, mango, melon, berries, citrus peel/rind, peppercorn, pine, wheat, cracker, biscuit dough, light honey, and herbal/floral/grassy hop earthiness on the finish for a while. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and no lingering hop astringency after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitterness and spicy alcohol. Medium-plus carbonation and medium-full body; with a smooth, creamy/bready/sticky, fairly resinous/rindy, and lightly slick balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Light-moderate increasing warmth of 10%, with mild booze lingering after the finish. Overall this is an excellent DIPA. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to sip on for the big ABV with the modestly bitter/resinous/drying finish. Not overly aggressive. Nice and pretty unique Azacca, Lemon Zest, Apollo, Wakatu profile. Very juicy, dank, and earthy balanced hop complexity; sizable pale/wheat malt backbone, but not overly sweet/heavy from lingering dryness. A very enjoyable offering, and well made style example. No complaints other than the warming/boozy finish.

Can dated 8/12/18, so over 2 months on this can. Look is hazy golden color with two fingers of white capped head that sticks around and leaves lacing behind. Smells yeasty, citrusy, light caramel, and subtle pine. The taste is initially booze then the malt and citrus hops come in ending with a big pine bite. The feel is effervescent, slick, and full. Overall not bad but definitely boozy!

Light straw to light copper in color with a hazy profile. Light lacing. There's a quarter inch of creamy and frothy beige on top. I smell overripe pineapple, lemon, pear, and citrus. I'm tasting a very complex blend of tangerine, pineapple, lemon, and grapefruit. The mouth is dense and moderately carbonated.
