look: Hazy dark peach with a big fluffy head on the pour that recedes to nil.
smell: tart and sweet. Hints of berries, funk and yeast.
taste: Much like the nose. A little subdued up front but finishes with a nice tart bloom.

On tap in Atlanta.

Hazy light amber with a hint of purple and a durable head.

Pleasing but puckering tartness. Fruity for sure, but blueberry is not obvious.

Smells rather unappealing, as is typical for style.

O: fun but a bit challenging to drink.

Another delicious offering from Orpheus. Not too sour, definitely not sweet. Can't wait for the barrel-aged version!

No label information. Wandering Blues is brewed in the style of an American Wild Ale brewed with Cold-pressed Blueberries, available in 22 oz. bottles and on limited draft. To my knowledge, this is the first bottled entry in the Orpheus reserve series, first bottled in 2015, even though it had been prior released in a limited draft format.

Poured from a 22 oz. bottle to a tulip glass.

(Appearance) Pours a crisp, foamy head of an off white tone over a densely hazy golden amber body with abundant carbonation. Retention is below average and there is no visible lacing. 3

(Smell) Malt body with notes of biscuit and cracker malts, a modest sweetness, tied in with a moderately sour profile, moderately acidic and lactic sour, generally clean overall with very subtle funk. Undertones of tangy berry contribute subtly but add some appreciated complexity to the overall aroma. Potency is moderate. 3.75

(Taste) Nicely balanced sweet malt and sour flavors. Smooth, soft pale wheat body with undertones of cracker malt and pale syrups, a moderate sweetness is met with a moderately tangy blueberry fruit acidity and lactic sourness, very clean and moderately drying on the finish. 4

(Mouthfeel) Texture is slick, smooth, softly fluffy, chalky dry. Carbonation is moderate, generating a medium frothiness and a moderately crisp finish. Body is medium for the style, shy of medium overall. Balance is slightly tangy and acidic over sweet. Alcohol presence is very light and there are no off characters. 3.75

(Overall) A very enjoyable sour ale that does a decent job at preserving the blueberry additions, although tied in with the sourness of this ale, it's indicative more of the bitter, underripe variety than the juicy and sweet ones freshly picked at peak season. A very enjoyable malt body does a good job at capturing a decent balance, although the sourness and acidity wins out ultimately, generating an incredibly dry finish in the end. I'll be likely to revisit this beer as I enjoyed it very much. 3.75

S - blueberries, sourness funk, tart

T - Tart, blueberries, funk - very very tart. Blueberries are fairly faint but evident

F - Highly carbonated, thin body,

O - Very tasty slightly fruity, heavily tart and funky ale. Well done, I am definitely digging it

Pleasantly surprised on draft with dinner at The Counter on 5/19/15.
Pour is the clarity and color of quality Oregon wildflower honey (I've tasted a number of good ones and bought a 3 gallon jar of an exceptional variety). Little/thin head on the pour that dissipates quickly. The nose conveys light citrus, wheat (thinking white IPA here) and an earthy floral trait. Taste is sweet, effervescent and entails a trace amount of tannin, citrus and some yeast. Feel is light-medium body with a kiss of carbonation and a semi-dry finish with just a touch of weight on the tongue.
A lightly sour, refreshing, easy drinking ale that went swimmingly with habanero salsa. Had two because it's twice as nice.

22oz bottle from Sprayberry Bottle Shop (Marietta, GA). 9.99. No bottling date but this just hit shelves last week (8/15). Served in a Barrel and Barley teku.

Pours an opaque hazy peach with a little over a finger of pale head. Those bubbles quickly fade to a meager collar, depositing only a few small specks of lace.

Smells tart with faint sour berries and some funky, earthy wheat/ hay. Simple and straightforward.

Flavor is only lightly sour, not at all puckering. Some lactic funk, vague berry skins, earthy, faint wet hay, soured grain and a hint of leather. The lack of alcohol presence makes this an easy drinking warm weather brew.

Medium feel with moderate carbonation. Finish is tart and mildly fruity with some slightly soured malt.

Despite having very little identifiable blueberry, Wandering Blues is a pretty tasty brew. It drinks more like a lightly fruited funky ale than the "blueberry sour" written on the label. That said, it is still enjoyable enough that I'll certainly have it again at some point.
