Appearance - The beer poured it deep black color with a tan head crowning the glass.

Smell - The vanilla came through in a big way in the nose. Chocolatey barrel notes were lying in wait.

Taste - There was so much vanilla here. It did not come over as perfumey or artificial. Balancing well with barrel notes, the vanilla was nearly perfectly balanced. As the taste progresses, dark chocolate is evident and back.

Mouthfeel - The beer had such a smooth body that complements the vanilla perfectly. In my estimation, It would be hard to produce a better mouthfeel.

Overall - I was super impressed by this beer. It is top-of-the-line for vanilla stouts.

Draft pour to snifter, near black, no head or lacing. Faint nose of vanilla, some wood and bourbon. Bourbon and wood really come through on taste and meld well with the roasted malts and vanilla. Hints of molasses. A bit boozy in a very good way. Heavy and silky body with mild carbonation.

A wonderful, smooth, velvety, chocolately bourbon vanilla boozy mess of goodness. One of the thickest and richest stouts I've had. Straight motor oil pour, sweetness on the front with a backbone of malty bitterness that nicely complements the vanilla. The bourbon is balanced with the other flavors and not overpowering. 5/5, amazing!

22oz bottle acquired by a friend at the brewery release. Served in a Three Taverns snifter.

Pours oil black with less than an eighth finger mocha head. That little bit of initial froth disappears quickly and completely.

The nose bursts with a huge vanilla presence. That baseline is joined by chocolate, caramel, bourbon, wet oak and some faint creamed coffee. Outstanding.

As in the aroma, vanilla is quickl to the taste scene and that welcome note remains throughout. Bourbon, chocolate, oak, brown sugar, caramel, roasted malt, raisin bread and a subtle alcohol burn round out the flavors. This is a damned delicious beer.

Rich, smooth, full feel with nicely understated carbonation. That magnificent vanilla continues its pervasiveness in the finish, complemented by bourbon caramel filled chocolates.

Excellent work from Orpheus. Abandon All Hope is one of the best vanilla stouts I've had. I dare say this one is worth some effort to acquire and I'm quite glad to have lucked into a bottle on a store shelf to enjoy later.

Poured out of a 22oz bomber into a snifter. Thick pour, silky. Caramel head with long retention. Aromas I initially picked up vanilla, fudge, and caramel. The taste was vanilla up front with dark chocolate, roast, and wood character following it up. It has a lot of body and is a slow sipper. It is without a doubt a top 10 stout for me. Amazing beer!

On tap at 2nd anniversary. This was the Sunday version without vanilla beans in the barrel.

L: Pure black with a persistent tan head. Almost looks like it was on nitro.

S: Chocolate, caramel, vanilla, bourbon

T: Follows the nose. Everything so well integrated. Surprising how much vanilla comes out from the Ferryman part of the blend. Sweet, but balanced by just enough bitterness. If I'm being picky, I'd like a touch more barrel.

F: Perfect. Thick and velvety.

O: Wow
