We can be swayed by the illusion that some things are just out of our grasp, but sometimes all you get is all you get. It’s worth realizing how fortunate you still are, and what you have here will not disappoint. Tart, fruity, and a touch sweet, this hazy sour ale is all you really need.

I'm really not into sours, but the ones offered by Orpheus Brewing are probably the best I actually enjoy...
Don't get me wrong, their sours are sour, but they mute the puckering effect by adding fruit flavors as a way to dampen the overall effect. This one, though not as good as one of their others, is still enjoyable in its own right. Nice to look at, great touch on the nose, the sour flavor is balanced with a fruity taste I really can't distinguish but I can tell you it's there, and it helps. I skip over cans that state they are sours, but if Orpheus Brewing is also stamped on there, it goes into the cart.

12 oz can, dated 1/20/21, into Southern Grist Blue Logo snifter.
A dark apple juice color emerges and a very whippy creamy head of 2 fingers lays on top. Fluffy lace remains.
Aroma is non-descript; a little honey, bread, and salt. Maybe some honey pretzels.
Flavor is also non-descript. I can taste a little hop spoilage already, indicating that this was maybe supposed to be some sort of IPA? Sourness is here obviously, in a sort of salty Gose-meets-Berliner sort of way. Hints of orange zest and pear but both are eclipsed by the kettle souring. I get a pleasant pretzel-bread note that lingers throughout the profile which is pleasant. It ends on some farmhouse funk and green tea. It really goes in several directions, like a herd of cats.
Feel is starchy, slick, smooth, moderately carbonated, mild noticeable alcohol heat, and leaves a clinging finish.
This thing is basically a sour golden ale, with slight Belgian IPA influence. It's really hard to pin. I'm not going to say it's terrible but it's really different. I may be giving it more credit than is due but I'd say maybe try it once and see how you feel. Don't buy a 6 pack straight off though.

16 ounce pour - $7.50 at Taco Mac in Kennesaw, Georgia.
Appearance: Sufficiently hazed to present a drab yellow tone. Slim, powdery-looking white head.
Smell: Curdled barley and steaming farina with scattered rose petals, crushed cloves and fruit pulp smearings.
Taste: Rather tangy and tart offering. Again, a creamy, wheaty vibe. Light brush of honey. Floral tones usher in apple, pear and citrus.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Lightly carbonated.
Overall: Feels a little clunky.
