Samuel Adams' seasonal offerings are usually among my favorite holiday favorites (I'm including October in the holidays), and their Winter Lager is no different. It's a bock with a nice reddish look and a typical medium head. It's a slightly toned down version of their amazing Old Fezziwig's Ale, with subtler spices to make it a bit lighter. You can sense the spices in the aftertaste, but overall this is just a nice little beer to keep stocked up for the holidays.

Flat, malty, and a tad sour. It could be a bad batch or just that this is a bad beer. It gives no feel or taste of winter. Just leaves a funky after taste and overall boring and bad.

This is a wonderful seasonal beer. A must purchase around the holidays. Smooth and flavorful. Easy drinking. Always in my fridge this time of year.

Red brown color, lot of rising bubbles, no head. Generic beer aroma. Flavor is of an average lager, with an added note of orange peel.

Pours a beautiful clear amber with a white head. Smells of caramel, malts, and spices. Tastes of sweet caramel malt, sweet spices, bread, and light non-bitter hops. Medium body with medium carbonation. Overall a decent bock.

One of the most drinkable winter beers around. It's unique because it's not unique. This is a wintry bock in terms of subtle spices, but doesn't try to overdo it.

Stands apart because it knows what it is, and doesn't try to be anything more. An absolute winter classic. I try all the other winter warmers, bocks, etc around this time of year, and think to myself, "That was pretty good. Now give me another Winter Lager."
