A- a chestnut brown pour with a clear body, and a big head with tons of lace. I'm shocked that this beer looks so good.

S- very malty and bready, with notes of fruity citrus and light ginger.

T- combining the orange and ginger with the biscuity qualities gives this a scone quality. Malty with a hint of hops, bready and sweet on the finish. I don't taste cinnamon specifically, but there is a wintery spice note here that is quite nice.

O- to me this beer is vastly underrated, what an awesome lager!

Pours a brownish orange color with next to no head formation. There is no lacing.

Faint hops and cinnamon in the aroma, honestly not much here.

Slick mouthfeel with a medium body and level of carbonation. Quite malty/sweet with some nice hopping and also the spicy notes in the background.

Overall, this is not my favorite beer or style, but I think this represents fairly well. Inevitably, since I live in a beer starved area, I end up drinking quite a few of these every winter.

12-oz bottle into weizen glass

A - 3 fingers of thick, cream-colored head over a crystal-clear copper body; moderate carbonation bubbles; great head retention and lace

S - malty sweetness; spice

T - malty up front, ginger and orange peel, caramel sweetness, metallic notes, mild hops (just enough to keep it interesting), spicy orange-peel finish with a touch of alcohol warmth

M - sticky, oily, medium body; moderate carbonation

O - SA Winter Lager is a decent bock if you enjoy a little spice in your beer.

12 oz bottle in a wine glass.

a: Orangey brown with one finger of off-white head. Minimal lacing.

s: Hint of spicy malts, caramel, maybe some brown sugar. I don't really get any hops.

t: Some earthy hops at the forefront, with some coffee-tinted sweetness in the middle, finishes with a mild bitterness. Pretty good.

m: good, medium bodied, good amount of carbonation.

o: Not bad at all. I'm not a huge Sam Adams fan, but they make some good stuff and this is certainly a good beer.

Appearance: Body is rich, dark amber in color. Fine carbonation with a thick, white head.

Smell: Light spiciness and soft malt notes.

Taste: Hint of spice and citrus-like flavors initially. Mild hop bitterness and nice roasted, nut-like taste towards the end.

Mouthfeel: Soft, fizzy. Seemed a bit weak in body at first, but graduated to medium in body later.

Overall: Nothing exceptional, but a fine winter seasonal beer overall.

Purchased at a large chain restaurant because it was the only craft beer selection they offered that I hadn't tried.

A-Pours a transparent, dark amber with a fleeting, two inch crown that left moderately pleasing ribbons of lacing as it departed.

S-Not much here.I let my glass get to room temp before I poured but the nose was still lacking. Some caramel malt, faint seasonal(ginger, cinnamon)spice, some dull earthy hops
and stale wheat bread.

T-Drinks like an American Red Ale.Toasted, slightly sweetened grains, generic spice blend, slight herbal hop bitterness and mild caramel sweetness. Also a slight metallic note on the finish.

M-Thin,watery and lackluster. What's there isn't horrible but overall the minuses far outway any positive traits.

O-Pretty uninspired.

12 oz bottle from the winter mix pack.

Appearance: Good looking, tea colored beer with excellent clarity, thin white head, and a few spots of lacing.

Smell: Big time spicing with cinnamon and ginger, almost pumpkin-pie like. Caramel and some toasty malt.

Taste: It seems overspiced at first, but it has a nice malt backbone with toast and caramel. The finish has the bitter orange peel which I'm not a fan of.

Mouthfeel: Medium, very lively carbonation. Very good.

Overall: This is decent, seems like it used to be a lot better.

A: Dark amber that pours a full finger of foam which quickly melts down.

S: Spicy with citrus. Something else that is sweet smelling.

T: Tastes rich, spicy, and sweet. The cinnamon really comes out in this seasonal brew.

MF: Fulfilling and thick. Perfect carbonation level.

Overall: Very good beer. A little to spicy for outdoors. But an excellent indoor beer or with homemade soup.
